Im trying to delete a folder from the terminal named iTunes Music but it thinks im trying to del a folder called iTunes and one called Music. How can i del this file from the terminal?
View 5 RepliesI hacked together this script to rsync some files over ssh. The --remove-source-files option of rsync seems to remove the files it transfers, which is what I want. However, I also want the directories those files are placed in to be gone as well. The current part of the find command, -exec rmdir -p {} ; tries to remove the parent directory (in this case, /srv/torrents), but fails because it doesn't have the right permissions. What I'd like to do is stop rmdir from traversing above the directory find is run in, or find another solution to get rid of all the empty folders. I've thought of using some kind of loop with find and running rmdir without the -p switch, but I thought it wouldn't work out. Essentially, is there an alternative way to remove all the empty directories under the parent directory?

After creating directory (DirName) in media/ directory, i wanted to remove it, so i used the rmdir command, "rmdir media/DirName". but now, i have mounting problem, i can't mount media disk, cd and dvd disk. how to recover settings and restore it?

The problem is im running out of disc space. Any ideas on how i can add more space. I have gparted but i dont know where to move the free space to because wubi installed it.

I am developing a I2C CDROM client driver. The CDROM firmware supports TOC information read through a I2C command. It sends the TOC information in burst ( Interrupts a GPIO pin when it is ready ) and my CPU does a I2C read to read the TOC. When the CDROM firmware finishes sending the last data burst , it informs my CPU that it is done with the TOC, by a flag in the last data burst. I would like to know, which is the most efficinet way I can send these TOC information to userspace?

Today I was installing a lot of software since I'm just setting up my Slackware system again after a fresh install, and I realized that my root partition has very little space left.

As you can see, I have a 20G (19G here for some reason) root partition, 8G /var, and 86G of /home. I thought this would be plenty since many recent recommendations for / are 10-15G. Now, though, 17G are used up for some reason! How is this possible? I thought a full slackware install only had about 4G of software! I don't have any music or movies or any crazy huge files that I know of, and those would be in my /home directory anyway. Is there any way I can see which files are taking up all this space?
If it's necessary to allocate more space to my / partition, is it still possible to boot up a GParted live Cd, shrink /home a bit, move some partitions to the right, and expand my root partition? I would REALLY prefer I don't have to reinstall since I just spent a ton of time setting up my system again, but if worst comes to worst ... :'-(

After getting 1MB of data it has to send it to the user space application. What is the best thing to implement for this in driver.? Is it ok to implement like, after getting data, the driver will send a signal to the user space application. Then the user space application sends an ioctl to read the data. Is there any alternate, that the driver directly sends the data without the user space application asks for it.?

Now i tried to install CENT OS by formatting ubuntu. I inserted CENT OS DVD and restarted and i selected to delete my /dev/sda2 which is showing 20480mb and it shown me free space. but i tried to add partion /boot of 100mb it got added. but, when i am trying to add / of 3000mb in the remaining 20380mb free space it showing an error message that no free space is available.

I originally had an Ubuntu partition on my hard drive which occupied about half of it. I installed Windows 7 in the remaining unallocated space and I was planning on doing a grub update from a live cd afterwards. BUT when I looked at my partition table, the space where the ubuntu partition used to be is now unallocated space!

df -h [URL] I did the following command to find everything is in /usr or /var, then tracked it down to /usr/lib and /usr/share as the main offenders, but out of all the directories none are more than 1mb or so.
du -sh /* | sort -gr | head -n 5
I tried to uninstall firefox, which is what got me in this mess in the first place, the log claims it will remove ~240 mb but failes on a "E: Write error - write (28 No space left on device)" [URL] If I could juggle something onto an external hard drive so I can uninstall firefox I would be out of the wood. Failing that I believe a new install is in order.
