Ubuntu :: Can't Connect To Creative Zen 4GB Music Player Via MTP?

Mar 7, 2010

Banshee can't connect to my Creative Zen 4GB music player via MTP. I'm running the latest daily builds of Banshee from the PPA. Rhythmbox works and syncs fine. I'm running Lucid Lynx 64bit. Banshee outputs this when I run it from the terminal.

[Warn 18:20:31.837] Hardware manager extension failed to load - Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
[Warn 18:20:31.837] Service `Banshee.Hardware.HardwareManager' not started: No HardwareManager extensions could be loaded. Hardware support will be disabled.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Every Music Player Wants To Stream Music?

Apr 19, 2010

I've had an awkward problem lately: every music player I use wants to instead of play music from my USB external hard drive, stream music from it. I have no idea why it suddenly started doing that. It may have been an accidental key-combo I pressed, thinking I had another window targeted and didn't bother pressing it again for my Totem music player. So I closed out of Totem in hopes that Rythmbox would work like totem used to. Well, it doesn't. It wants to stream music now.The problem with the streaming music is trivial, but here it is: I have a playlist with a little over 300 songs. I have Totem set to shuffle and repeat my music. Streaming music with it makes it just stop randomly after a few songs, and when I try to pause music and play it later it takes a good 30 seconds before it kicks back in at the beginning of the song.Like I always ask because I don't know enough to give back to the community yet, can anyone help me? Thanks.

I am trying to configure mpd (music player daemon) to access my music files that are stored on a windows server (NAS).

In the mpd configuration file I have to point to the directory in which the music is.

How do I do that? Is it something to do with mount?

OpenSUSE Hardware :: Creative Zen X-Fi Mp3 Player?

Jan 24, 2009

I am running Open Suse 11.0 and KDE 3.5.10 and I am trying with no success to use my Creative Zen X-fi mp3 player, my main objective being to be able to download some podcasts into my Zen I tried with Amarok which does not recognize it. Banshee sees it and I was able to import from my Zen into my computer but not the other way around I guess I have to mount it somewhat but I do not know how. I tried mtpfs but probably did not do it right

I am very new to Linux (probably an obvious statement from what I said before) and learning it the hard way.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Computer Sees Creative Zen Player But Programs Do Not

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Banshee Doesn't Mount Creative Zen Player 11.2?

Dec 16, 2009

When logged in as my normal userid to OpenSuse 11.2, I cannot get Banshee to recognize my Creative Zen MP3 player. The player does appear as a device on the desktop and I can access files on the player through that icon, but cannot get Banshee to recognize it so it can be managed in Banshee. If however, I log on as root, Banshee recognizes the device without a problem.

The log file in ~/.config/banshee-1 shows the following:
libusb couldn't open USB device /dev/bus/usb/001/004: Permission denied.
libusb requires write access to USB device nodes.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Connect Creative Zen X-fi To Exaile

Jan 11, 2010

I installed ubuntu 9.10 last week and it is my ambition to completely switch to this platform at some point. However, I am experiencing some difficulties with the different music players at hand. I currently try to use exaile as my main player. But I can't make it connect to my mp3 player. My player is a Creative Zen X-fi 8GB. Can anyone guide me through the process of making exaile compatible with my zen? As far as I can read from different posts, it should be possible... Another question of mine is the following. Is it possible to edit the artist names in the music library. My problem is that exaile has one entry with the artist name Band of Horses and another with the artist name Band Of Horses. I would like to have these entries as only one entry, but I don't know how to edit the one or the other. Right-clicking doesn't lead to anything...

Ubuntu :: Software Centre Not Downloading - Creative Zen Cannot Connect

Nov 2, 2010

my Computer Sci friend cannot even fix this, so here goes... I need some kind of mtp or gnomad2 to let my creative zen x-fi connect with my linux so I can listen to mp3s in peace. But, if I try to use software manager, nothing downloads. It simply says archive manager as reason for failed download. I've tried deleting and re-installing the software centre. I've tried downloading what I need online. But neither have done anything.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Seeking Xms Like Music Player?

Apr 21, 2010

I am searching for an xmms like music player. rythmbox doesn't do it for me because it organizes songs by genre and such rather than by files - I find changing tags on individual music files tiresome, and I prefer the xmms style - all music was accessed as I access all other files on my computer. Frankly I don't know how to "compile from source" and can't quite follow the instructions describing how to "compile" the original xmms. Xmms2 doesn't seem to work on my computer.

Ubuntu :: Cant Get Any Music Player To Work Correctly?

Oct 18, 2010

im using ubuntu 10.10 on a dell e1505 laptop with a x1400 graphics card. 2.5 gb ram and a core 2 duo 1.83. i also dual boot vista for lightroom only. my huge problem is that every music player i try doesnt work correctly in some way. ive tried amarok, banshee, rhythmbox, songbird (wine), exail, one with a name that started with a "g" and was long and strange. i forget the name now. i think i tried a few others too. i also have about 40k songs but ive only loaded my entire library into rhythmbox. the others i just tried with one cd.

my problem is that they either crash right away, things dont work such as the eq, or they freeze the entire pc. rhythmbox is the best i can do and it freezes my entire pc after about an hour of use...sometimes quicker.something that could possibly be of importance...i could not get 10.04 to work with my external monitor on this pc. it made the entire screen very wiggly looking. 10.10 solved that. though it does flicker every once in awhile.please tell me there is some way i can fix this...i really dont want to go back to vista.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Syncing Music Player Libraries?

Feb 26, 2010

I'm dual-booting Ubuntu and Windows 7, and I have all my music files on an external hard drive that I read from both OSes. When in Windows 7, I use iTunes as my music player. Does anyone know of a way to keep the ratings, primarily, and play counts as a bonus quest, synced between iTunes and a Linux music player, whether it's Rhythmbox, Banshee, Amarok, or some other player. This is the number one feature I'd like so I'll switch to using almost any music player if I can have this.

If there's a way to import ratings from iTunes that's a start, but that's more of a one time thing. I might be able to write a script that does this importing regularly but what I'd really like is a seamless way to keep the ratings between the two music players synced. I know I can use Amarok or Banshee on Windows and that might make what I'm trying to do easier, but for other reasons I need to keep using iTunes on Windows.

Ubuntu :: Rhythombox - Wouldn't Trade It For Any Other Music Player

Apr 17, 2010

I love Rhythombox. I wouldn't trade it for any other music player. But it keeps putting the songs under the wrong artist because one letter in the songs properties is different. Such as Starrstruk by 3Oh!3. I have all my other 3Oh!3's songs under the artist "3Oh!3" (set by Windows 7) and Starrstruk is set as "3OH!3". So now, there's two artists of 3Oh!3 (3Oh!3 and 3OH!3.)

In Windows, I right click the file, click "Properties", switch to "Details", and I can change the artist's name. How can I do this in Ubuntu?

Ubuntu Multimedia :: Music Player With Mp3 CD Burning Capability

May 13, 2010

I'm looking for a music player, similar to rhythmbox, but one that allows for drag 'n drop mp3 cd burning capabilities.

If I'm not clear, I want to be able to drag songs from my library into a playlist, or whatever, just like rhythmbox will do for audio cd's, but be able to burn it as an mp3 cd to allow for long playlists.

My music folder is close to 10000 files in MANY MANY different folders. So making a long mp3 mixtape would be much easier if I could do it in the same program that already has every song in front of me.

Ubuntu Multimedia :: 11.04 - How To Sync Music To MP3 Player Using Amarok

May 27, 2011

I am having a few problems concerning my mp3 player: (I thought a long time about posting this in the hardware section, but in the end it comes down to the fact that this is still an mp3 player - I know it's still piece of hardware - which indicates that's it is some sort of music device... doesn't matter)

1. The system somehow doesn't recognize it and doesn't handle it the way it handles external hard drives. However, the device is recognized by amarok. How do I change this circumstance or if this is normal, why?
2. How do I synchronize music to it, using Amarok?
