Ubuntu Multimedia :: Experiences With The PGF-format (instead Of JPG)?
May 6, 2010I've stumbled upon the so-called pgf-format in a Digikam-related website. According to the makers of this format, it ought to be better than jpg.

Which one is the best to install for multimedia experiences?
converting videos to 3gp format.
i have installed transmaggedon software but it fails to convert because quicktime muxer plugin is not installed.
This plugin is not available in the repositories.
How can i get this video converter to work or what else can i do to be able to convert videos to 3gp format?
I'm running Debian Lenny. I'm not pleased with kde4 so I'm going to be staying with Lenny. But I'm really looking to upgrade the old Openoffice 2.4 to 3.x. I've got the backports entry in my apt sources.list file. And I have downloaded the packages list. I'm just wondering if anyone else has installed the OO.o from backports? Does it work good and does it futz up anything from the stable install?
On a side, does anyone know where to get an updated Kopete. The version in Lenny is old and won't connect to Yahoo chat anymore (I guess they changed the protocol again.
These are really the only two reasons I messed with KDE4 anyhow. Kopete isn't a big deal because i can always use Yahoo messenger online anyhow, but really want to see how OO.o 3.x works.
Anyone ever try and do any type of video chat from abroad specifically? I'm going to China to teach a class for $work for two weeks and wanted to use something like Skype video chat with my family while over there (I'm in the continental United States) and wanted to know if anyone else out there had tried this or another service? My laptop runs Linux, as well as the computer at my home, so any chat service would need to be Linux friendly
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm still trying to find out if my coby mp3 player will actually play mtv video files as is advertised.
ffmpeg -formats does list mtv but the only command I really ever used was one to convert a vid to an mp3 so I tried Code: ffmpeg -i test.mp4 -acodec copy output.mtv it returns Code: Unable to find a suitable output format for 'output.mtv' I can't find any mtv files online for purchase or free for that matter, so I know this is all pretty obscure but shouldn't there be a way to convert them since ffmpeg lists mtv format?
Is there any multimedia file format converter which can convert .mov to .flv on Ubuntu.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter installing Ubuntu 10.04, 64-bit, I can no longer rip CDs to MP3 format. I can play MP3 files on the computer just fine. And this isn't limited to a single application.I normally use Sound Juicer to rip my CDs. Under Edit >> Preferences >> Format, the drop down menu no longer lists MP3 as an output option; however, if I click on the "Edit Profiles" button, there is a "CD Quality, MP3" option and it is set to active.
I'm having the same problem with Rhythmbox. Under Edit >> Preferences >> Music, the "Preferred format" box is empty, the dropdown menu is grayed out, and clicking the "Edit" box only shows the same sound profiles as Sound Juicer with no way to make one enabled (yet they are marked as active).
Alright, I got a pair of darn nice stereo headphones over the past month and I'd like to maximize their use with the best audio format possible on my Ubuntu computers. I have a pretty extensive music collection but now going from using Itunes, Winamp, Banshee, etc formats seem to be getting pretty extensive. I want to know what the BEST overall quality audio format is. I'm only talking about simple listening, not editing, if it makes a difference.
I don't care what the size of the song comes out to here. If a 5 minute song ends up being 25mb, so be it. And what is your reason behind your choice, short and sweet.
How would I go about converting an MPG to a DVD format so I could burn it to a DVD disc and play it on a standard player?

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow do you erase/format a Data DVD+RW? I had originally burned some folders aka data onto a DVD+RW disc using Brasereo. The burned worked fine but now when I try to burn someone else on it, it won't let me. I tried using the "Blanking" option but all it does is make a burning sound and doesn't stop. Once it tries to blank the disc I can't stop the process except by pressing the power button on my computer. The DVD+RW is not corrupt because I can still read from it and copy working data on it. I'm not sure on what to do. I have already tried K3B but that doesn't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've just started to use Rythmbox, and as I was ripping CDs I noticed that the songs ripped as .ogg files by default. I use Rythmbox to sync with my iPod Classic (80 gig, if it matters), so I would prefer that the songs ripped in .mp3 or AAC. Is this possible without leaving Rythymbox? If not, what's the most user-friendly software available to rip CDs in .mp3 or AAC?
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo the other day I plugged my iPod shuffle into my pc while booted into Ubuntu. I couldn't access it through rhythmbox, o I mistakenly figured the best thing to do would be to format it with the fat system. Big mistake. ended up turning out an error saying something along the lines of not being able to format the iPod in a 32 bit format. Now my iPod doesn't show up at all, and I have no clue where to go from here to get it formatted and set up for use with rhythmbox

I can play nearly any video format on my pc because I have loaded all of the nessessary software. But what about tvs? I loaded some videos onto my flash drive and then I inserted it into the usb port of a LCD tv. Nothing on the drive would play. I assume it is because tv have a limited number of formats that they will play. Now, if I intend to download videos and convert them so that they will play on a tv, what are my best options for..

I have a Panasonic G1 digital camera this outputs raw files in Panasonic's own format (suffix .rw2). UfRaw and RawTherapee can both read these so I can work on them in ubuntu (though ufraw displays a very overexposed image at first). f-spot has problems and displays a funny pinkish mess.
Can I get F-spot to display .rw2 thumbnails?
I would actually like to get Gnome to be able to display panasonic raw thumbnails as well. Is this possible?
As an aside it would be one in the eye for windoz as Panasonic have not released a codec for XP, only for Vista and 7 (and it seams to have a nasty hook in it according to dp review)
I see lots of threads on converting your CDs to MP3s, but I want to do the opposite. I want to burn MP3s into CDs that will play on older CD players that dont have MP3 support.
So how do I do it? I have Mint on this particular computer, which is like having Medibuntu already I think.
