there are 2 related to 11.3: openSUSE_11.3/ and openSUSE_11.3_KDE_Distro_Factory/ Index of /repositories/KDE:/Extra they are not listed as official kde4 repos here KDE repositories - openSUSE, but they are in the same directory structure on the build service so it would assume they are official (what ever official means) They have rpm's I didn't see in community and playground (at least for 11.3) such as audex and clementine I would guess that they are for the stable and factory versions of KDE4 but then shouldn't there be a 3rd for unstable if this was the case? Or do they refer to the distro, 11.3 stable and 11.3 factory
I have a problem while burning a CD-Extra (audio+data in two seperate sessions) in k3b 1.68.0~alpha3-0ub on Karmic. The audio tracks are being burned and the session is closed, but k3b does not start burning the second session. There is the last status message in the log: "Searching previous session" and one near the progress bar: "Closing session". Normally it should close the audio session, eject the burner for resetting his state and begin burning the second session. But in fact it just stops, instead of burning the second session. My only option is to cancel.
I already tried to add -eject into the user options of wodim/cdrecord. It ejects, but it didn't help. The first (audio-)session nevertheless is correctly burned, only the second (data-)session is missing. I tried to switch the writing app to cdrdao (option in k3b), but in this mode k3b dies with a segmentation fault. Only "auto" or "cdrecord" mode works. (In fact "auto" chooses cdrecord). There doesn't seem to be a different version of k3b available in synaptic to try out. I switched over from gentoo, where k3b worked. Unfortunately I cannot remember the exact version of k3b in gentoo. The system was approx. 1 year old.
PS: Is there a native Gnome/GTK app that does CD-Extra? Brasero and GnomeBaker do not support it yet.
I have a Toshiba Tecra M3 laptop with a resolution of 1024 X 768 and a Nvidia GeForce Go 6600 TE/6200 TE graphics adapter build in, on to which I want to add an external Dell E196FP monitor with a resolution of 1280 X 1024 pixels. I have installed the Nvidia VIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 173.14.22 driver and X server application, but when I go in to the application by "System" -> "Monitors" I get the following message: "It appears that your graphics driver does not support the necessary extensions to use this tool. Do you want to use your graphics driver vendor's tool instead?", to which I answer yes.
In here, I go to "X Server display configuration", and "Detect displays". Here both displays (the Dell and the build-in Toshiba) is shown, but I do not know what setting to chose under "Configure", where I have 3 options:Disabled Separate X screen TwinView I want the same screen image on both displays - almost like a projector, but I can for the life of me not get it to work.
Still new to the ubuntu world, here's my issue short and quick. Card seems to work fine until I try to change visual effects to "Extra". At that time the desktop goes black, but I can still see both bars 'top&bottom' and any windows, I am sure you know as well as i that support for the 7500 seems scarce.........
I had a Compiz update two weeks ago, this update came from the official repository of Debian. So everyone had this update, this update did not had a positive effect. The extra plugins on both my desktop and laptop can't be enabled now. Such as Expo or the Animations. I can just use the basic stuff. There have been some partial upgrades ever since for Compiz, so I guess they are still working on it. But my question is; am I the only one?
Not too happy with Ubuntu's venture into 'unity' so intend to give debian a 'test drive'.Re some eye candy, compiz-config settings manager enables numerous attractive settings but it doesn't seem to work on my machine. On Ubuntu wobbly windows and desktop cube works fine but not as it stands with my debian setup.Under Preferences-appearance debian has 3 tabs, Ubuntu has an extra tab which I think may be the key.Is there something extra I need to install on debian to get my 'wobbly windows'.
I tried to install a package of extra Compiz Fusion plugins but it won't run. Says there is some kind of conflict or error. Anybody know where I can find this. The particular plugin I want is Show Mouse.
I tried fixing m pulseaudio so it wouldnt mute the sound whenever i set it below 24%, but now i cant adjust the volume. Are there alternatives to pulseaudio? i have kmix installed, will this suffice?

Normally in my music collection, I have some songs that are the same song, just in a different album. When transferring files onto my MP3 player, if it detects the same name for the song, even though they are on different albums, it says that I have to either replace the file, retry, or cancel.
I'm head engineer for a community radio station. One of our compressors has recently died and I want to replace it with software compression on our streaming machine. I've been looking at VST/LADSPA/JOST etc and I've got nothing but confused. Hence I'm coming here looking for help.
My spec is this. We need a system to run a compressor and EQ, probably a graphic and a parametric. The compressor needs to be multiband and have proper control of the compression curve. A way of configuring it without too much command line work would be an advantage. All needs to run on an Ubuntu server with not massive overhead as it's not exactly the latest hardware. I suspect it would be possible to run WINE for windows requiring VSTs if needed.
I was hoping some of you good people might be able to point me in the direction of a suitable host and plugins to achieve the effect described.
I recently downloaded several MP3 albums from Amazon. Most of these albums contain works from several different composers. The problem is, the Rhythmbox music player in Ubuntu Maverick won't display composer tags. I am therefore searching for a way to overwrite the artist tag of each file with the composer info. This overwriting would need to be a batch process.
Let's say that I have an album of the New York Philharmonic performing works of a dozen different composers.I would like for the correct composer to overwrite New York Philharmonic in each file. Is it possible to use a program such as EasyTag do what I need? Please provide detailed instructions and/or a link to such details.
I have released a Firefox extension, called FlashVideoReplacer, that automatically replaces embedded flash video object with video/mp4 or x-flv, allowing to watch flash streaming content with a less CPU intensive plugin.
I'm looking for a method for modifying some jpg photo files last modification date with the corresponding timestamp creation date of each file. The reason is that shotwell import pictures in folders according to last modification date which is stupid on my opinion.
I have suse 11.4 installed and I wish to replace the on-board sound chip with an add-on sound card. The following are available at my local shop but they cannot advise whether any will work on Linux Suse 11.4.
Anyone know which of these cards will work on Suse 11.4?
Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Asus Xonar DS
I'm relatively new with Ubuntu- but I'm pretty experienced otherwise with computers. I just installed Ubuntu on my Intel machine and it seemed to be running a little slow so I checked the System Monitor and found that there were 2 CPU's being displayed (I only have 1) and that one or both were maxed out at 100%. What I have for hardware is one Intel Atom 1.6Ghz processor, with 2GB of ram. When I check what resources are running, none of them seem to be taking up that much memory (firefox being the most at 60mb).Any advice on what might be going on here? How is it displaying 2 CPU's when I only have one?
I'm running 10.10 and whenever i click on extra under visual effects in Appearance I'll get the keep settings dialogue box, but then the effects don't enable and if i go back to the page the effects is back on none. I am very lost and would be happy for answers. My grpahics card is a ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card.
So i saw a thread somewhere about using a thumb drive to make extra ram for your pc. This was of course on a windows pc. I was wondering if this works on Ubuntu also and if it is really worth it?
Also if you have 4 USB ports could you put in 4 usb thumb drives and have a fantastic amount of ram?
In the default version of Open Office (3.1) packaged with Karmic I notice that a lot of common fonts eg, Times New Roman etc, are missing. How do I add all these common fonts?
When I open a directory from the Places menu on the Gnome panel, two Nautilus windows open up. One is the location I asked for. The other is always "/media/Data/ZZZMaint/PC/R stats pkg". I think it may be to do with the fact that some time earlier I had created a launcher in the Main Menu - called "R documentation"', with command "nautilus --no-desktop '/media/Data/ZZZMaint/PC/R stats pkg' " (the idea was to have a menu item that opened up a folder containing a set of documents I refer to). I have since disabled that menu item but the problem remains. I would very much like to stop Nautilus opening this extra window.I've tried looking through gconf-editor but haven't seen anything that looks relevant. The extra window doesn't get opened when I run Nautilus from other places, but it always happens when Nautilus is opened from the Places Menu, regardless of whether I'm opening a drive or a bookmark.
I've recently installed the package xscreensaver-gl-extra, and noticed not one of the screensavers on that package works - all I get is a blank screen on all of them. However, I remember those screensavers working under Jaunty on exactly the same hardware (didn't test them on Karmic). How can I make them work again?
How to add the extra animations like burn, glide and a whole lot of them. I recently installed lucid and installed compiz but some of very cool effect are missing and not listed under animation and also the wallpaper option is missing under the utility which i get to know by this forum in ubuntu 9.10. Any ideas i miss cool animations of compiz and want them back.I reinstalled compiz and compiz settings manager, but no success.
I have Ubuntu Linux installed on a hard drive in a seperate computer. I want to transfer some stuff so I pulled the drive and hooked it up to my main machine. I then installed Ext2Explore so I could read the drive. I am able to read it now and see all of the folders but it appears that I am only able to see the main partition. With the other partitions, I see them listed in the Media folder but I click on them and they are all empty. Does anybody know how I can retrieve the data in these partitions?
