I have installed "plug and play" webcam logitech c270. Audio works fine. I can see and hear when people call me. People can hear me, but not see me. On the Skype/Options/Video the "test" button for video results in blank white screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust found my old Logitech webcam again, and tried to get it to work on 10.04. Somehow this doesn't work. I tried searching the forum, but did not get an answer to my situation.
Here is what I can see:
After connecting (or rebooting), dmesg shows the following lines

And that's it. No message that cam was registered to /dev/video<x>. I should add that I already have another cam (Philips) that works and is registered to /dev/video0, and I also installed a Hauppauge PVR350 card that also gets registered to various /dev/video<y> files. Why the Logitech cam won't register? I'm guessing I can't do anything until this cam has its own /dev/video<x>, right?
I'm trying to get my Logitech webcam to work. I don't know the exact model but it's a round globe.

I upgraded recently to Ubuntu 11.04 and have been trying unsuccessfully since to use an old webcam: Logitech Quickcam Messenger. The system doesn't recognize it at all as far as I can tell, which it did on 10.10 (I didn't really use it then, I just remember I could get a picture at some point.

I've tried this with 2 different logitech webcams, and the same thing happens with both.
It works fine or a minute or two, but then the picture freezes.
Using Skype, Cheese or flash based ustream.
THey are both HD Logitech webcams and give me a great image until they freeze.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an ancient Logitech Express webcam (046d:0850) that worked immediately when I installed 10.04 Lucid Lynx, except for a frame rate issue. GUVCVideo has the frame rate at between 1-3 fps. I'd like to see it at between 25-30. The video options within guvcvideo DO NOT allow me to adjust the frame rate, resolution, or auto-exposure. Cheese works, skype works, and camorama doesn't. All functioning programs have the fps issue.
In searching around, all I've found is some wild goose chases promising pots of gold that some leprechaun must have stuffed up his keister because they don't work for me.
Basically the only thing you have to do is installing quickcamteam's configuaration file (logitech.xml) with uvcdynctrl. Now I have a real good fully functional HD capable webcam.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to ubuntu 10.04 and everything is ok except my USB Logitech Headset. The problem is that volume of the device is very low and I can't hear the music or any sound like I use to heard. Even if I increase the volume up to 100%, I still hearing the sound with a very low volume. But if I use the analog output of my sound card I can hear very well. I remember that i used to have this problem in ubuntu 9.10 but I fixed with a script that I found it in this forum, but I can't find it again.

I am using a USB headset and a logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 with Ubuntu 10.04
1. When I change the sound to internal sound the webcam works in Skype but I have not sound.
2. When I change the sound to the USB headset (sound output) the webcam does not work in Skype.
After cheering the Ubuntu Developers team on the great work they did with hardware recognition, I was suddenly stunned by the silence from my USB speakers this afternoon. Although previously correctly recognized and fully functional, after installing several non- audio updates, the sound from my USB speakers ceased.Moreover, this pair of Logitech Z-5 USB speakers aren't even listed on the Sound menu (System > Preferences > Sound) although lsusb lists them correctly. I have an embedded sound adapter to which no speakers are connected. My PC runs on Ubuntu 10.04. What should I do to get the sound through my USB speakers?

Am using openSUSE 11.2 X86_64-KDE4. Audio mixer is not muted but I cannot hear from the headset, although I can hear sounds if I run Windows 7 or Ubuntu 9.10.

There are 2 jacks at the front of the computer, one for mic, the other for headphones. I plug them in, and I can't hear any sound. Have checked all sorts of documents and settings for pulseaudio and ALSA. If I play a sound file, the Pulseaudio meters are showing that there is sound, but I cannot hear anything. Have checked the obvious, nothing is on mute. Here are the results of some commands ..

I have an acer aspire netbook with intel graphics. To get the graphics fully working I had to execute the script from the following page: [URL]...That broke the audio. So, I bought a cheap USB soundcard. I plugged it in, it was recognized and worked immediately. But the sound quality was horrible. Next, I bought some reasonably expensive Logitech USB headphones. They also immediately worked. The sound quality is a bit better, but still bad. One weird thing is that the audio quality improves with increasing CPU usage.What is also interesting is that the sound quality is perfect with bluetooth headphones. So the jitter really seems to be associated with snd_usb_audio somehow. But I have no idea what to do about.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two computers--a Zareason machine (no details yet) running 8.04. I also have a Dell 1525N laptop running 9.10. I purchased recently a Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Webcam. The video works on both systems with Ekiga and Cheese. I can also see the video in Flash applications (but *not* in Meebo even with the other person logged into Meebo). (Both computers are running the latest Flash plugins).
However, the built-in microphone is problematic. With 8.04, I get playback when I test it under System|Preferences|Sound--but with lots of echo. But I get no sound with any Flash chat applications. I've not been able to test it with Ekiga as the testee (a Windows 7 user) can't get Ekiga to work on his machine (probable Windows firewall issues). I haven't installed Skype because Skype pulled its 8.04-compliant .deb packages and I've not tried yet to compile it from source code.
With 9.10, the webcam works with Cheese (video) and I can get both webcam and mic to work with Skype. (Again, no test result possible for Ekiga until I get a testee). However--my Win7 testee friend says that when I log into Googlechat using Pidgin on my 9.10 laptop, a webcam icon appears next to my userID telling him that I have an open webcam (even when there's NONE actually plugged in). He doesn't see the same icon when I log into my 8.04 desktop with no webcam plugged in. I have searched Pidgin and my System preferences and see no evidence that any of these applications or my system sees a webcam that's not there.
So--how to get the mic to work? (I am thinking the simplest answer will be to simply upgrade my desktop to Lucid). And also, why the webcam icon in Googlechat even when no webcam is plugged in on my 9.10 laptop??
Is there currently any way to record a webcam video with sound? This used to be possible back in the day before PulseAudio was installed by default (by using Mencoder, following guides such as [URL] and [URL] ) but that method doesn't work any more: /dev/dsp doesn't exist. I've also tried Cheese and that again just records a video with no audio. All the articles I can find on the topic are from the good old pre-Pulse days.
I've tried messing about with the commands a bit to use the Alsa Pulse device (defined in /etc/asound.conf) since neither mencoder or ffmpeg seem to have built in Pulse input support:

Runiing 13 64bit, full install, default kernel.
i am trying to video chat with my logitech C200 webcam but it does not work with skype or empathy. Do i need to download special drivers?. In skype i can't even test the camera. and with empathy the webcam icon and the video call option are grayed out. I downloaded "guvcview" from the software center and it works like a charm, i can capture video and take pictures, so i don't really understand why skype and emphaty dont work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was having some issues with my old webcam and decided to just get a new one since my old cam was just that, old. Anyway, I went with a Logitech Orbit AF and it works as far as video goes but I can not figure out how to change the pan/tilt. I did not expect all the options of the cam to work but I figured I would at least be able to move the cam up since it is aiming at its lowest setting, which when using is around my chest. I have been searching around trying to find something that tells me what I need to do. From what I read, I think I need to change the settings of some functions called v4L2UpDownPan() and v4L2UpDownTilt() in luvcview, which I guess are in a file called v4l2uvc.c but I can not find that file. Is this what I need to do? Is that the file I need to change and if so, where is it? I just want to set it and leave it.

Have Logitech 9000 web cam .. brand new out of the box.
It installed and works both in Cheese and in Skype. (outstanding image!)
But, there is a severe lag in the image (audio does NOT lag .. so makes using any on line VERY hard to do!) Is there some way to get this thing to work properly, or am I going to have to wait on 10.04 to see if that works? (hate to use the old saw of "it works in Windows", but it DOES on my Windows machine .. just that I want it to work on the Linux box as that is my primary box and used for almost all on line activities.)
I installed Fedora 10 few days back in my laptop (dell inspiron15) and i had problems with wireless connection and webcam. I have a WLAN (UTSTARCOM) Had no problems connecting to net using lan cable.But wireless was a problem.I tried changing the settings in the Network Connection window using the settings wit my ISP. Still no luck. And with my webcam like i updated wit "yum update". and i got some software application named "digikam" but tat did not detect either my lap webcam or the usb (logitech) webcam that i had.
Sorry that i could not give more details about Wireless Driver. I also would request to know the command that i should use to actually know what driver is in my laptop and also for the video driver.
