i have this blog, and i want to embed flash vids in it like videos. however, i want to do this from my apache2 web server, partly for bragging rights among my non-techie circle of friends, but mostly because i cant get videos to do what i want (which is private viewing of vids by non-..... members). any tips on how to do this?

I have a film that has been split into 2 files, both of which has an associated srt subtitle file.
I want to embed the subtitle file permanently in the films, so I can subsequently combine the 2 video files (and so have continous playback).
I've tried playing about with Avidemux but no joy so far. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

That's what I have. It shows the box where the video should be - but doesn't play it, just asks to save. Not sure if it's something with my browser plugins... or my code on my page... ? Tried with FireFox and Rekonq - same results. Tried with many different embed codes as well - all same results.
i'm in 64 bit kubuntu, with the the nswrapper in 10.10http://www.metacafe.comin firefox i get the sound but not the video in metacafe, when the video is unblocked by flash block. Others have the same problem?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a file server running Ubuntu Server. No monitor or input hooked up...I just ssh into it for maintanance. I use it to store all of my music and video files. I was watching Hulu at work today and thought it would be nice if I could somehow stream or play my files from my file server while I was at work.
I have apache set up so I can serve websites from it so I was thinking if I could some how select the file to play and it play it in an embedded player, that would be fine. I'd like it to play music and videos.
Is there any way of going about this? I have minimal HTML experience, but I have extensive C/C++ experience and server experience. So I'm comfortable using some open source libraries to accomplish this.

Its no secret that flash video performance is sub-par in Ubuntu. I have a Zotac Mag HD ND01 that I have connected to my 40" LCD tv and have a minimal Ubuntu 9.10 installed running openbox and firefox/boxee/xbmc
My primary use for running a web browser is so I could watch live streaming hockey games in HD. However, thanks to Flash's performance (and yes, i've tried the latest versions, even the 091510 version in labs) in full screen mode, watching hockey is not possible because its way too choppy.
Now, on my desktop computer in my office, I can watch the same stream without issue. So, my question is, is there any way to take this live stream (which is using Flowplayer), and re-encode it on-the-fly so I can stream it to my htpc in a format it likes (such as MKV i guess, it can play 720p/1080p mkv files without issue)?
My desktop is a Core i7 920 overclocked to 4.2Ghz with 6GB DDR3 ram, so I would hope its powerful enough for the cause. Also, the desktop is running Windows 7 64bit and Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on a dual boot, so a method in either is fine.
Since upgrading to 11.04 i haven't been able to watch any flash video.Any websites that feature flash prompt me to install or upgrade my flash player.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu 11.04, have 4GB of Memory, and an AMD Phenom II X4 840 Quad Core processor.When I play Hulu Desktop the video is choppy.Now, the odd thing is that I had this problem before. It's the whole reason I upgraded my processor. When I upgraded I noticed an improvement, but it was still a little choppy. I then went to the Adobe site and got the latest version of Flash, and lo and behold, I could watch Hulu Desktop on HD quality with no problem!
View 8 Replies View Relatedi've noticed a problem this morning when watching bbc flash videos on firefox (3.6). whilst the video is playing, firefox is fine and new tabs can be opened. but once you close the tab or window where the video was, firefox freezes and has to force quit. other flash video sites like videos, cnn, sky news, guardian and flash games seem okay and firefox doesn't freeze. bbc videos seem okay on firefox on winxp too. the bbc problem occurs on news video and on iplayer vids.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI installed Kubuntu 10.04 and found out that there is no sound for flash in firefox. Also I here no sound when playing local video files (VLC, KMPlayer).
I checked kMix and everything is on. I tried to install pulseaudio, but I am not sure about it. Last time I saw it couldnt connect to some server or what... Although I can hear system sound and Amarok 2 plays mp3. I didnt mention that I tried to install libflashplugin and kubuntu restricted extras.
I watch alot of news videos and within 1 - 2 minutes the video and audio become out of sync. The video is lagging the audio. I'm using 10.10 32 bit with Shock Flash 10.1 r102 on Firefox. Will the 10.2 beta flash fix this problem?

When I put my mouse where where the "play/pause" button should be I can click there and they work, but its all white. Flash in chrome works just fine, I use regular ubuntu repos. One weird thing is that ..... videos work perfectly when tagged/embedded in another site, such as facebook or a gmail chat, but on the ..... official site I can't see a thing.

I am using Firefox 5.0 with Ubuntu Lucid x64 and I have no audio with Flash video. Audio works just fine on other applications so I'm guessing this might be a permission's issue or setting of some sort? I also have: flashplugin-installer 11.0.1.60~110713-ppa0~lucid & flashplugin-nonfree 11.0.1.60~110713-ppa0~lucid installed with ALSA v1.0.24.2.

When I put a video on - even if high definition or not I still get a studder from flash. The video plays but it keeps chopping up and you can see on some frames how the next frame moves on the bottom of the screen and the previous frame is still stuck on the top. Flash does not run smoothly at all - that is on every video. I am suppose to be on the latest flash version for linux off of addobe.

I watch the video, and the audio is fine for a few seconds, but then the audio cuts off as the video continues to play. Sometimes, when I move the scrollbar of the screen/pause and replay the movie, it starts back up again for a few seconds then shuts off or plays the audio I just heard.

I have an old dell inspiron 1000 with a 2.26ghz centrino and SiS integrated video chipset.It used to run flash player playing 360p ..... clips in fullscreen very smoothly and better than my windows 7 install but with 10.04 it is doing about 1 frame every 5 sec.

Although I did install the package flashplugin-nonfree, in debian that I'm a little more used to flashplugin-nonfree provided libflashplayer.so and not flashplugin-alternative.so which seem to be the one all my browsers are using. However about plugins in firefox says very little except "application/x-shockwave-flash Shockwave Flash". Can I just replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so and maybe make some links or something or would that be bad?
The process using my CPU is reported as plugin-containe but it only happens with flash video and not any other plugins. If the video is playing, paused or stopped/not started makes no difference. I did replace all the flashplugin-alternative.so with libflashplayer.so, it didn't help. Seems firefox was using that plugin all along, presumably from here "/usr/share/ubufox/plugins/". I can't imagine I'm the only one who wants a fix for this here, there should be hordes. I use the latest kbuntu, flash player, firefox and kernel all from the repo.
I have an ATI 4650 HD and using flgrx via jockey, on 10.10.X becomes unresponsive when I play flash videos inside a browser. The image freezes, and the audio track loops, with a loop length of around 0.5 seconds. The only thing I can is reboot my computer. The xorg log file contains no indication that something went wrong. The last entries in it are the monitor display modes.
I cannot switch to the open source ATI driver, as my monitor screen goes blank after booting.I have tried a fresh system install, but that hasn't worked either.
I am having a problem getting sound to work in flash-videos in Kubuntu 10.10. My system currently has two working sound cards, the one integrated into my motherboard and the other is a USB Logitech headset. After installation, the speakers were set as my default output device which I did not want. I was able to move all the sounds over to the USB headset using phonon. While Amarok works, videos work (downloaded, wmv, avi, divx, etc) I cannot get flash video to work in Firefox. I set up my prefered device as the USB headset for everything in Phonon, but still the sound will only come out of my integrated soundcard (speakers). I'm not sure what exactly I am missing, I set everything up, but still it's a no go. What switch did I miss? I haven't used Kubuntu for a while, but i'm pretty sure this worked fine in Ubuntu 9.04 (when I last used it).
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Ubuntu 11.04 (64bit) on my Thinkpad X220. When I watch flash videos I see that Xorg consumes a lot of resources (CPU time). Flash videos in full screen are extremely choppy. Playing videos with Mplayer, for example, is no problem at all. Any ideas how this can be fixed? I found lots of posts by other people with similar problems but they had different graphics cards so their solutions were not applicable in my case.

I have installed Kubuntu Natty on a Toshiba laptop with an Intel Card on i386. Sites with flash video content (....., vimeo and the BBC's iplayer site) however don't work as expected: the video track stops while the sound carries on. Pressing the right mouse button in the video player screen makes the video continue immediately, but this is not the expected behaviour! I have also tried with Windows, and it works fine, so it is not a network problem. Audio seems to work fine. I'm attaching the output from lspci and that of Xorg.0.log that appears relevant to the intel driver. code...
