Apr 26, 2010i installed 10.04 beta1 and now i want to upgrade to the release candidate, so how do i do this, or do i just need to wait until the final release

Ubuntu Installation :: Customized Install Of 10.04rc From CD?
Apr 24, 2010I have the cd image for the install cd of ubuntu 10.04 release candidate. Before I install it, is there anyway to specify which of the default packages I DO NOT want to install (via command line arguments or some other means). There is ALOT of things I DO NOT want, like firefox, "cloud one", "social features", totem, rythmbox, "music store", empathy. I know that the cd allows you to adjust the command arguments for the install command, and something tells me that there should be an argument for specifying which packages to install/not-install or to choose from a list or something to the same effect.

Mar 23, 2010im not sure if this is normal or not, i never tried a beta before, always wait until normal release. this is the 5 version of ubuntu that i will use with this laptop. 8.04 some hardware was not detected, screen and graphics not good and i had to use windows driver for wireless 8.10 the wireless improved, used backported drivers instead of windows drivers 9.04 wireless working, all hardware detected 9.10 screen and graphics working good, match lcd resolution 10.04 the live cd stop in the middle at the logo screen with dots, never one live cd fail to load, but again, never tried a beta before. stay with 9.1 or try another distro? the bad thing is i dont know how i can to fix it, or get more information useful to anyone

Apr 4, 2010I am booting from a USB stick live CD image of Kubuntu 10.04 Beta. When I run the installer, and choose the "manual select partitons" option, it lists only my full hardisk, whereas I have atleast 5 partitions on it, and none are shown. Could anybody help me with this? I want to install on one of the partitions and leave the rest intact. I am dual-booting BTW.

Apr 29, 2011I am looking for a copy of 11.04 desktop beta1 amd64 to download. This is running on an x120e. Beta1 installs and works but freezes every few hours. Beta2 almost fully installs but pops up with a friendly error that says "installation has failed" with not much helpful in the syslogs. 11.04 Final kernel panics half way through installation.
At this point, I've tried almost everything, so I'm just trying to get back on Beta1 to get stable because this is my work computer. There are a lot of links on google, but every single one went dead as soon as final was released. After that, I will work on trying to get 11.04 final installed properly.

However, I could not get Ubuntu 10.04 to even see the Etheros AR2427 card (iwconfig). Am I doing something wrong or is there no driver to support the card? Jun 1, 2010While upgrading to a newer version of Ubuntu I noticed a warning saying that the installation/upgrade should not be interupted. Unfortunately though, during this process my computer froze up and I had to shut it down. Ubuntu no longer starts on my computer. I still have Windows though, which is what I'm using now.

May 13, 2010I do a clean install of slackware64 13.1 beta1 with KDE and switch default runlevel to 4 in /etc/inittab.
I try to login in kdm, I always come back to the login....
I try this with default runlevel 3 and an .xinitrc with "ck-launch-session startkde" .. works without problems, so I switch back to default runlevel 4, now i can login and only get the error "Cannot open ConsoleKit session: Unable to open session..."

This is most likely a transient problem, please try again later. I tried again several times in different days and it is the same. I have 10.4 recently updated from my original installation of 9.10. I think it was not a pre-release, I did it automatically from the website and it took a long time. As far as I know, all I have installed is official, except perhaps Skype itself.

Mar 23, 2010I was trying to update from 9.04 to 9.10.
During the installation, I kept getting tons of errors. Finally something came up saying that I had to abort the installation and it did some stuff. I tried running an application, but I got an error. So I restarted the system.
The normal screen came up where I had to choose the Ubuntu stuff (I'm new to Ubuntu) in the box. I noticed that it had gone to 8.10... which I had earlier before installing 9.04, which went great. So I chose the first on and the system failed to start. I rebooted and tried all the other options, but they all had errors. Now I'm booted to Windows.
I installed Ubuntu from a CD I created. But it is now outdated because it is 8.10, and I have already upgraded to 9.04. 9.04 to 9.10 is where stuff went wrong.
