in the middle of script, i need to send the output of (send command on line 8) to a file
#!/usr/bin/expect
spawn telnet 172.20.64.133
expect "ENTER USERNAM <"
[cod]....
i treid the below on line 8 :
1- send "show command;
" > logfile.txt : gives an error extra character after the "
2- logsave logfile.txt 'send "show command;
" ': error invalid command
3- i simply tried to send the output of the whole script to file logsave /home/logfile ./script : seems that logsave work under root only
4- ./script > logfile : the problem with this is that the output of echo or (read "enter your id") command will not be displayed on the screen (actually nothing will be displayed, i have to open the log file to see the output). is there any way to save the log of the "send" ? or to save the log of the complete script without hiding the output on the screen?

I am trying to get tftpd going in Ubuntu, and its kind of tough because I am new to Linux. I installed the tftpd software using packet manager,and I used this guide to configure it at this link,URL...Step number two must be asking me to make a config file. How do I make a config file. I cut and paste the script into a file I made by right clicking, but I am not sure if that was right thing to do.Also when I try to send a file is says no such file or directory.

I want to send a PGP encrypted file to a friend who (unfortunately) probably doesn't even have any idea what PGP is. He runs Windows XP. I know I can encrypt and decrypt PGP files easily and freely on Ubuntu, but I have no idea about how to handle PGP in XP... I tried downloading a PGP file in an XP virtual machine to find out, and Windows was pretty much unable to identify the file type. What kind of software on Windows (that is completely free and trustworthy) would be able to decrypt my PGP files?

I need to send large files from a Linux machine to another using cryptography. The sender machine knows the recipient IP but not vice-versa. I don't need strong cryptography and prefer higher-speed less-secure solutions.
There are no problems with presharing crypto keys but I'd prefer not dealing with SSH users creation.
I think to HTTP PUT over TLS, but I never had experience with it and I prefer to hear which are the possible solutions. I know that it can listen as a daemon but I don't know anything about cryptography. So pipeing with OpenSSL may be a solution.

I have this problem.I need to do this:I got a small version of Linux installed in some small devices. These devices come from the provider with this small version of Linux installed.This devices should send data to some other machine in the internet. I have tested wput for this purpose with a PC which has an Ubuntu version 10 and it works fine. However, when I try wput in the small device, I get an error. It seems that the wput might need some libraries to work with the small version of Linux installed in the small device.The fact of using wput or not is optional. I just need being able to send files through ftp with this small version of Linux.The thing is that to be able to run wput in this small version of Linux, it seems that many of the needed libraries were missing. So what I did was just install all the needed libraries. But still the wput program fails in its first line.

I've got a Debian Squeeze computer on which the graphics have packed up, but the terminal in single user mode work perfectly fine.
There are a few files on this Debian computer that I want to transfer off, to a networked computer, but I have no idea how to do this.
The destination computer is a freshly re-setup Mandriva install, without (as yet) samba. I don't think it's necessary though. The Mandriva install works fine, has graphics, etc, but can't see the Debian Squeeze computer on the network, possibly because it's in single user mode, thus prompting the problem of how to transfer the files, using only a command line.

Devices are paired, sending files from laptop to phone no problem. I think, there is a problem with permissions to write into a public dir. Picture 1. Permissions settled for shared 'Public' dir. Picture 2. Grey-out options in Bluetooth 'receive file' dialog. What to install into system to resolve that issue? Or, is there another solution?

Within PyGTK I'm using gobject.spawn_async to launch a bash script. I would like the output of that bash script to be displayed within my application. I have a textview set up to receive the text ...
Here are the commands that launch the program:
Code:
def run_command(command):
global keep_pulsing
keep_pulsing=True
(cpid, cstdin, cstdout, cstderr) = gobject.spawn_async(command,flags=gobject.SPAWN_DO_NOT_REAP_CHILD|gobject.SPAWN_STDERR_TO_DEV_NULL,standard_code....
Here are the two callback functions. But like I say ... I have no idea how to get that data from the 'cstdout' file descriptor into a textbuffer.
Code:
### THE FOLLOWING ARE GLOBALS:
textview = wTree.get_widget('textview1')
textbuffer=textview.get_buffer()
def update_textview_callback(fd, condition):
global keep_pulsing
if keep_pulsing:
progressbar.pulse()
code....

i am working on some kind of PBX and i have list of telephone numbers inside a file, i have to insert these numbers into the correct command and then telnet to a remote server and execute these commands. i can read the telephone numbers and insert them into the command with no problem, but when i try to insert these commands into the send i face problem. here is the basic code
#!/bin/bash
read msisdn < input
string="ZZZZ:MSISDN=$msisdn;"
[code]....
i can make external loop inside the Bash which read the input file and issue the command and then telnet and execute, but this will make the script connects and disconnects again for each line which cause high load on that server and hardwar problem. i am wondering if there is an option inside the expect interperter which makes the send read directly from a file... somthing like this:
expect "<"
send "input-filename
"
expect "<"
expect eof

I'm configuring an rsync between 2 machines, A_Server --> B_Server, using the following script:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
#
# Script de backup a travs de Rsync desde RMP-1 hasta RMP-2.
#
[Code]....
The Rsyn is working OK. What i need is to change one of the lines of the /tmp/prueba.txt before sending it to the remote machine (obviously not changing the file in the local machine), i mean, send prueba.txt to the remote machine deleting one line and adding another one...how can i do this?

Problems with Bluetooth. The dongle appears to be working, but then it craps out on me after only a few minutes!
I'm using the blueman-manager GUI to connect to my cell phone. If I load blueman-manager almost immediately after connecting my dongle, I can use it for a few minutes, but only long enough to add my phone, pair it and mark it as trusted. Certainly not long enough to send or receive a single file, though. Eventually and inevitably, the connection breaks, blueman-manager hangs/freezes up, and I start getting errors in dmesg.
Here's all the relevant diagnostic stuff...
Code:
Code:
Code:
I added the MARK myself to separate where the dmesg output stops immediately after plugging in the dongle from what appears after the connection is broken. It's right when that timeout error happens that the connection severs itself, and the error usually repeats itself several times.
Even if I just connect the dongle and not do anything except wait a few minutes, after a few minutes that timeout error will still happen. I'm running fluxbox and I don't believe I have any automounting programs, so there wouldn't be any interference from something like that.

I'm writing a script that will send an alert email given certain conditions. I have the impression that sendmail is what I need to do that. I just don't know how to use sendmail at all. I assume I have to set it up like a typical mail client so that it has a mail server to log into to send from.
I've looked through the man pages, but I can't find anything in plain English there on how to set it up, or how to use it once it is set up.
