View 2 RepliesI've downloaded from the Ubuntu software center a touch-pad application that allows me to set some preferences to my touch-pad. So since I rather use a mouse, I've disabled it, the problem is, it only keeps disabled for a few minutes, later it works again. So I want to keep disabled until I enable it again, any suggestions?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhere is the "disable touch pad while typing" preference stored and how can I alter it without using the GUI?I have written a script to disable my touch pad, but if the "disable touch pad while typing" preference is on it the touch pad will reactivate its self after I type. Clearly the "disable touch pad while typing" preference must be stored somewhere, if someone could tell me where I could alter my script to disable the preference along with my touch pad.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor instance, the one thing I hated more than anything, was the touch-pad on here, and I mean whenever you touched it it counted as a mouse click. I always hated it and in Windows I found a way to disable it with disabling the entire mouse pad, how do I do the same in Ubuntu? In every other distribution I didn't have to worry about it, but I suppose that I'm using the proprietary drivers or something.
Anyway, TL;DR: How do I disable a touch pad feature
I want to install tomcat so i followed the steps mentioned in below link: [URL] After going through the steps i checked for
Code:
./startup.sh
but it showed me the error
Code:
touch: cannot touch `/usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/logs/catalina.out': No such file or directory
/usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/bin/catalina.sh: line 372: /usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/logs/catalina.out: No such file or directory
when i went through my "/usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/" there was no "logs" folder so i tried
Code:
find / -name catalina.out
but it returned nothing.BTW i have installed "apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src", "java-1.6.0". Please if any one could look into the problem and provide me the solution to error mentioned above and why there is no "logs" directory in "/usr/share/apache-tomcat-6.0.32-src/".
I would like to use as much FOSS as possible, particularly with touch screen computers. Is it possible to run Ubuntu with touch and/or multi touch capabilities? If so, will an HP Touch Smart computer run Ubuntu? I would very much like to purchase said machine via Linux Foundation discounts if this is the case.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI searched around and it seems like other people are having similar issues with multi-touch on Lucid, although my specific problem hasn't been brought up. I have an Eee PC 900A that I upgraded from 8.10 to 10.04. In 8.10, two-finger tapping was processed as a middle click, and two finger scrolling worked perfectly with the other functions.
After upgrading to 10.04, a two-finger tap is now the same as a right click, and middle click is three-finger tap. There does not seem to be any place in the touchpad settings to adjust this.
What's more, if I enable two-finger scrolling in the touchpad settings, the two-finger tapping suddenly stops working. If is change scrolling to edge or disabled, the multi-finger tap functionality comes back again. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a solution?
I've been trying desperately to try to sync my iPod to play songs from it and to add songs to it. I've tried Rhythmbox, Amarok, and iTunes through Wine, but none of them will even acknowledge that a device has been connected. When I connect my iPod while in Rhythmbox, a device called "Unknown Device" pops up for just a second, then disappears. This computer is running only Ubuntu now so I'm pretty desperate to find a way to be able to sync my iPod.

A USB powered mouse works, but not the touchpad. I even booted up from a live USB to make sure that it's not a hardware problem, and it worked there. Is there any way I can fix this easily? I don't want to have to do a fresh install, because I put all of my files back on it again as well as installed a bunch of applications and programs.
i am working with ubuntu 10.04 and have ipod touch 3g.i'v connected the ipod and was able to browse the ipod directories, but i wanted to manage music and video so i have installed gtkpod package.it did not reconized my ipod, even it was mounted.so i started trying all sort of stuff and ended up with broken ipod support...so i removed all ipod related packages from synaptic and reinstalled them.but now, i cannot even mount the ipod. i get the error:

I recently installed Ubuntu after xp went off its last leg and couldn't start up (I deleted all previous files in the installation). It's a very good program and I have no problem installing new programs
The problem is that it will not recognize any iPod connected to it. ( not only mine but family as well)
Now when I say it doesn't recognize, I mean that programs like Banshee, Rhythmbox, and Hipo fail to recognize that an iPod is connected but my iPod can charge perfectly fine so I know that it isn't an issue with the cord.
I just connected an old Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard (keyboard + mouse set) to my Ubuntu and I was wondering if it is possible to configure all the additional keys and in particular the wheel on the keyboard.I found that keytouch was the software to do this, but on Ubuntu 10.04 seems to have some troubles: even after the configuration, all the additional keys are just... dead. The events connected with any of the keys never start.Does someone know how to configure this software?
View 1 Replies View Relatedupon the upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10, all upgraded nicely, except for my touchpad, which can't right click anymore, I can use the scroll on the side, and the button-trackpad just functions as a left click.I have an HP Pavilion dv6, with a touchpad like that of the HP Envy, click touchpad, with depressing ends on the bottom and middle respectively for left, middle, and right click.
I submitted a bug report on this when it was in beta, is there a solution to this issue? I use my laptop for work, so I would appreciate a fix... or something I could do aside from uninstalling my Operating System and reinstalling the previous version, which would seem to be a hassle.
I must say I've spent many nights trying to get this touch screen going on ubuntu but with no luck. Does anyone have any general step by step instructions or is there any sites I can go on. I have a Acer t230h and the furthest Ive got with it is typing something into the terminal and getting out aload of strange looking symbols and stuff. I presume that was in the right direction but i forget what I pressed... something like 'lbus' but longer I think. I have the touchscreen info plugged in with a usb lead so what ever their called in ubuntu might be a help. another thing I did find something related to the screen in the /dev/ folder by plugin it in and out a couple of times and spotting what file was missing and coming back but when I run it in terminal this is what happens - evan@ubuntu:~$ cat /dev/hidraw0 cat: /dev/hidraw0: Permission denied

I've never been able to touch or modify anything in USR. Now it's being a problem, as wine installed itself like 8 times and won't run right. It won't let me delete the files.
How do I get permission to do stuff on USR?
EDIT: I'm set as "administrator" and I've given myself every right, however frivolous or useless. I still can't do anything on usr.
I have a 3rd gen 32g ipod touch with the latest firmware and restored to factory default settings. When I plug in the device via USB it will not mount. after plugging in the ipod my dmesg is as follows:
Code:
[ 399.300032] usb 2-1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5
[ 399.455746] usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 3 choices
And lsusb shows the device as:
Code:
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 05ac:1299 Apple, Inc.
The OS is obviously recognizing the device as an Apple product, but beyond that I don't know.
The device will connect fine with windows machines. I have not tried using it with Wine + itunes as I know that itunes under wine is buggy at best.
When I plug the ipod in I get the following error message "DBus error org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Message did not receive a reply (timeout by message bus)" Amarok sees the ipod but cant access it. Gtkpod doesnt see it at all.Its an Ipod Touch 8GB, 2nd or 3rd gen.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know there are a few threads on this already, but I don't think they apply to this type model specifically. This link says that the libgpod is not yet current with the hardware.
It also says that it works with iPod Touch 4G's with a lower OS (ex. 4.0.1). Mine came with 4.1, but even after jailbreaking, I cannot get it to sync music.
If I were to downgrade the OS (is this even advisable for this model), would I then be able to sync music in Ubuntu?

I'm thinking about jailbreaking my iPod touch 4g with ios 4.3 using the new redsnow. Can you do this using wine or do I have to go and use windows. Also, will the jailbreak delete my apps, and do I have to update to 4.3.1.

lsusb shows it's there and after following this thread I could get it mounted and see the directory structure.

But it doesn't show up in Banshee or Amarok at all.
Is it just because it's new and might have a quirk? Or could it be something simple I have missed? I'm not a total noob but still learning
