I installed ubuntu 10.04 today..but when i clicked on "broadcast accounts" of nothing happened at all.I tried to run gwibber manually but again nothing happed at all...the "chat accounts" are working fine..the problem is only with gwibber..I searched different forums and found that some users are experiencing this problem and others are not.
I've just upgraded to Lucid Lynx on my Asus Eee Netbook, with Notebook Remix installed. I wqs glad to see that Canonical integrated the gwibber client into the desktop environment, as this gives me better opportunities to use my Twitter account properly. Unfortunately, i can't run "Set up broadcast account" when clicking the "letter-applet" icon. When running gwibber from terminal, I get this code...
I'm currently using the 10.10 beta of Ubuntu with all of the most recent updates installed. When I boot up the computer, gwibber fails to start up and when I do open it, it shows an icon in the notification area (Which I flat out do not want) and does not use the indicator applet at all (even when closed).
Just did a fresh install of 10.04, everything working great, and I was pretty excited about the integration with gwibber, evolution, and empathy. I was fiddling around, getting things the way I wanted them (startup programs and such), and upon a test restart, noticed that unlike the first couple of times I had restarted with 10.04, the Evolution icon no longer came up in the tray, and my "Me" menu was useless - didn't have me signed in to Gwibber or Empathy, didn't give the option to do so.
Yes, I can still run these programs no problem, and I could probably get it such that they ran at the start... but what I would like is for them to run minimized, in the tray, like they did the first time I booted up 10.04. Again, I trust this is a mere couple of lines in the command prompt, I just don't know what they are.
After a fresh installation of Ubuntu 10.10 I uninstalled empathy (im using skype). The empathy menu in the evolution indicator was gone after that.I also uninstalled gwibber. But the gwibber status indicator remains within the about-me panel... Uninstalling the gwibber package also removes the me-menu which I want to keep actually. Especially the shutdown/restart... part of it. See attachment.I know there is a shutdown panel-app...but its butt-ugly and it doesnt allow to logon/off.
In another thread I read that the gwibber status shouldnt be there if no account for it is configured... which it is not... I do use ubuntu-one though which is in the same menu... I saw that this issue was addressed at some bug report before, but not fixed yet...
Does anybody know a good workaround to get rid of the gwibber status in the panel while keeping the about me and the shutdown button?
My Firefox used to start instantly, or at least near instant, but since yesterday it took about 30 sec to launch. Opening subsequent windows is near instant, but once all windows are closed it would take a long time to open again.
When I open it up in a terminal, it has absolutely no error message, clean start up and shutdown.
I turned up the CPU clock speed from 1.2GHz to 2.0GHz and it doesn't seem to help. Other programs starts fine too, so I kind of ruled out performance issue.
Yesterday I also tinkered with compiz settings and also installed the cairo dock and some media codecs. But I can't pinpoint when does it happen exactly, I also struggle to draw any relationship if there is any. And if it matters Firefox is 3.6.10 and Ubuntu is 10.04.
An little annoying problem. When i start firefox it starts in fullscreen mode. So the tabs to close, minimise, and the 3'rd to maximise have disappeared. On windows you hit f10 i believe to get these back. How do you do in firefox?
I download the Fedora 12 and updated from Fedora 11. After installing successful and restart, I can't find Fedora 12 selection on the Grub. I try to write it on the grub.conf, but it's still can't start the Fedora 12. code...
I just installed JEE (not openjdk) and tryed to use both eclipse's galileo 32 and 64 bits (im under fedora 11 x64) but none is working i don't even get any message nor a single window, nothing. I'm really lost, what should i do?
I've updated a Fedora Core 3 server to Fedora 11. The old FC3 had an external modem attached for when we felt like dialing in for a ppp connection. I've replicated login.config, mgetty.config and dialin.config from the old server and had to put a RS232-to-USB adapter on the modem. I've test connected to the server and everything look fine. I'm have a difficult time starting the Getty session from inittab.code...
I wanted to change screen resolution manually from xorg.conf and apparently a missed it up and my fedora core stucks and wont start, how can i start fedora in command line (so that i can remove xorg.conf), i tryed ctrl+alt+f1, ctrl+alt+backspace and still cant start in command prompt.
I have fedora version 8 with mysql 5.0.45 installed. I have also installed drupal. Recently drupal gave me an error "error code 28". When i checked it out it seemed to be with the db. When i tried to created a db (for testing purposes) in root...i wasn't able to. so then i tried to restart mysql ...it stopped but unfortunately i have not been able to get mysql back up...i get a message saying "Timeout error occurred trying to start MySql Daemon".
I am having a problem getting my facebook account to add to gwibber. I have searched the forum for the last couple of days and found several others with an identical problem but to date no solution is offered other than keep trying.I have run gwibber in terminal and attempted to add the account. Below is the output. For information I am trying to add an existing account not create a new account.
** (gwibber:1986): WARNING **: Trying to register gtype 'WnckWindowState' as enum when in fact it is of type 'GFlags'[code]....
I recently updated my Lenovo laptop to Lucid Lynx, and everything works great, however Gwibber will not open. When run from the terminal I get the following errors.
** (gwibber:4031): WARNING **: Trying to register gtype 'WnckWindowState' as enum when in fact it is of type 'GFlags' ** (gwibber:4031): WARNING **: Trying to register gtype 'WnckWindowActions' as enum when in fact it is of type 'GFlags' ** (gwibber:4031): WARNING **: Trying to register gtype 'WnckWindowMoveResizeMask' as enum when in fact it is of type 'GFlags' ** Message: secret service operation failed: The name org.freedesktop.secrets was not provided by any .service files Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/gwibber", line 50, in <module> from gwibber import client .....
Lucid is adamn good release and in my opinion, one of the best till date. If I have to rate Lucid on its OOB Factor (Out Of Box), I would rate it 9.7/10.I have an AMD based laptop with ATI graphics chipset and this used to be a major headache (ATI's fault ofcourse) previously and I was gearing up for another hour or so of installing the video drivers from ATI and getting it to work. But,suprisingly it just worked out of the box with visual effects enabled. Every component on my machine worked as it ought to be.
I cant say enough about the interface overhaul. Its like a F16 got upgraded with some slick Alien technology. Ubuntu 10.04 is surely a GOLD standard for all Linux Distros out there. Coming to this minor issue, I am unable to add the facebook account in Me Menu via gwibber. It takes the login credentials and prompts me to allow or deny publishing to facebook. Clicking on allow doesn't do anything, it just sits there.
I've recently upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 and I've got to say that for me (been using Ubuntu since 9.04) that this has to be the best release yet, however one of the main added features doesn't successfully work for me? Unless I'm doing it wrong? So I'll list what I do just incase the problem is me.Firstly I access Gwibber (either from the Me Menu ( i think that's what it's called) and click broadcast account, or access it through the applications menu) then select Facebook from the drop down menu. I then click authorise and take all the steps needed to authorise Gwibber (logging in, accepting etc) and it says Facebook Authorised. I then click Add and it just highlights the box and doesn't actually do anything?
So I would like to know if I am doing something wrong while trying to authorise it and add the account, or if it just isn't working for me at the moment?
I have tried remove from ubuntu software center and Synaptic Package Manager, but when I reinstall Gwibber, it directly load from software list, and not download from internet. I want completely remove Gwibber, so if I want to reinstall Gwibber, my system download from internet and not install from database previous installation.
I have a problem with gwibber. It has emerged randomly for no apparent reason as I have not changed any settings. All of a sudden, when updating my status on Facebook, and I click send, gwibber appears to work for a while, and then just nothing happens. My status does not get updated. It works fine with Twitter. It's only facebook. I have checked my application settings in Facebook and gwibber has full permission to post.#
I tried setting up the account again in gwibber, but this just opened a can of worms, because I had to reinstall gwibber and delete all of the config files in order to reinstate my facebook account, (see URL...)due to a bug in gwibber, which was a pain.
