I have just installed Unbuntu 10 on my PC & my mothers PC the web browser Fire fox works fine on my PC but on my mothers it wont open Yahoo mail is this a browser problem or a setting in Unbuntu.

So its work just allow to open mail.yahoo.com but unable to login , As it block javascrpit and also unable to open login.yahoo.com:443. Tell me to which dstdomain should be allow to access mail.yahoo.com with out any disturbance.
I tried to use evolution as mail manager for my yahoo account,and now it works but there is really big problem for me. Evolution sucked and deleted ALL messages I had on yahoo so now I can't find them with any other computer except this one ! This is really bad because I'm on the move all the time and it is impossible to access my contacts or reply to some message from cell phone for example ! Can I somehow recover all inbox from evolution to yahoo mail ?

View 4 Replies View RelatedRecently, or more specifically, yesterday, Thunderbird started telling me that the IMAP Yahoo server does not accept my password encryption. I checked in the settings, and it says it is "Normal Password". I then change it to "Encrypted Password" and then change it back after it reloads and tells me the encryption is wrong. After I change it back, it works fine for about 10 minutes, after which it tells me the encryption is wrong, even though its on "Normal Password". Mad, I delete the account and start a new one. The account manager then tells me that my password is wrong, writing something like

Seeing as I tried to do this about 50 times, I doubt I typed my password in wrong 50 times. My other account, a Gmail one with IMAP as well, works just fine. Is the IMAP address of Yahoo different now?
PS: My firewall is off. I have also installed the WebMail and the Yahoo Webmail Thunderbird Extensions.
I just downloaded and installed Ubuntu a few days ago (on my Windows Vista Laptop), played around with it, did some trouble shooting (got my wifi card working!)... and am generally enjoying it.However, I am having issues loading my Yahoo Mail. I am using the newest version of Opera (which I also run on windows), but have tried Firefox as well. I am having absolutely no issues with Yahoo mail when I use Windows (in Opera, firefox, chrome, and IE), but can not get it to load at all with Ubuntu. Basically I can get to the Yahoo home page no problem, and can access any of the links etc., except for Mail. When I click it, I just get an error page (as if there was no Internet connection). I have not had problems with any other sites.I'm thinking its some kind of scripting/application conflict, but like I said this whole Linux thing is brand new to me. Have only ever really used Windows in the past.I'm hoping to get these minor issues hashed out, and eventually just drop Windows out of my reality.

on ps aux | grep yahoo , i get a lot of connections such as these:
I get about a dozen of it, i think it is taking up my connection, anyone has any idea why how these connections appear? Is it because of my server's security loophole?
I am now very confused as to why i cant login on any secured sites since my firewall is setup to masquerade technique in iptables. Of course i can browse normally to any normal http connection. I attached my firewall script.
I setup squid on the same box and configured browser to use that proxy. All is well, i can browse and login both normal and secured sites (ie yahoo mail)
I have a problem with my VPS not being able to send any emails to Yahoo! addresses. Each time someone with a mail account tries to send something to a Yahoo! address, the email stays stuck in the mail queue and a 'delayed mail (still trying)' message is sent back to the user. I understand that Yahoo! has a tendency to block mail servers on a whim, but what I'd like to know is, how can I prevent Postfix from specifically retrying to send emails to Yahoo! mail servers? I don't want to stop retries to other mail servers.

When I acquired the company its email was hosted by sina.com as its in China. It was being run under a windows server and had issues sending & receiving.
I moved it to a linux server system in Hong Kong that has a US co-host site in Chicago area thinking its got to better than whats running in China.
We are still having problems sending emails to hotmail, yahoo and gmail.
My entire company is about ready to redmond our company email and use their personal webmail accounts.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI got this working before, but now I have a freshly installed Ubuntu 10.04 and I wanna play yahoo pool and I followed all those crazy insane commands they posted but they (java) didn't help at all, their support and help is really poor as I get errors like directory does not exist or no such file. I basically installed the jre-6u21-linux-i586.bin file in my home directory like and used all their commands like cd /home and all that. Here is my ls output they say always to check, but it seems like I installed it but I can't get it installed with firefox together.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my 11.4 firefox and flash to get rid of an apparent flash problem. Before the packman online upgrade, the event pulldown on yahoo finance didn't work. It behaves the same after the upgrade. I noticed on this site, I couldn't click the cursor into the simple search window. So from openSuse, firefox is third party, adobe is fourth party and yahoo is fifth party. Who owns this problem? The rest of my system is KDE 4.6.0 on HW 686 - 32 bit.

- Using -no-remote could work, but I would have to make a whole different firefox profile for each set of pages, not really a solution. - Also tried setting it to a particular display and it opened as a tab again. ie. firefox [URL] -display=":0.0"
I have been having trouble getting Thunderbird to open links within my emails. When a link is clicked there is no response at all. I am running firefox version 3.6.2 and Thunderbird 3.0.3. After surfing the interweb and the forums I have tried setting the default browser through Firefox itself and through the preferred applications GUI in Ubuntu with no luck. I have gone into the about:config for Thunderbird and added the following lines:
network.protocol-handler.app.http /usr/bin/firefox

I've been getting annoyed with the way that Firefox opens files for me. I used to have it so that they would come up with a window that asked whether I wished to save files onto the hard drive or simply open them. When choosing to Save, they would go to my Desktop. Because I mainly save files from my Uni website, they are generally .pdf files. N for some reason, they open in the Firefox window, so then I have to go to File, Save, then choose where I want to save it. It would be more efficient if it worked the way it did originally. How can I get the settings back to the way they were? I am running Ubuntu 9.04 and Firefox 3.0.19. Because I use a shared computer, I'm not sure whether the version of Firefox has been changed.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am using the latest version of ubuntu(10.04 LTS) Desktop edition 32Bit. My problem is, after I open the firefox browser for first time after booting, a chain of new firefox windows start opening one after the another. In a matter of few minutes, there are like 15-20 instances of the browser opened.
I reinstalled the OS, but it is happening again and again. Is there some flaw in OS, something related to OS not compatible with my computer or some problem with the keyboard where some key(combination) is in a "press" mode (however, I dont see that happening on Laptop, the keyboard looks fine, plus Windows XP is working just fine).
This problem is forcing me to spend a larger time on Windows (which is bit cringy, after you get used to Ubuntu!).
Specs: 1Gb Ram, Centrino Duo, 1.88 GHz

View 2 Replies View RelatedI started using 11.04 awhile ago, and switched from Unity to Classic because I didn't like switching from the mouse to the keyboard that frequently to open applications. I noticed that Firefox had stopped using the setting of opening my homepage when I started Firefox and have been trying to figure out why. It turns out yesterday I think I figured it out. There is an add-on for Unity Menus installed, once I disabled that the behavior returned to normal. Hopefully, someone else here will find that useful.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI install a nautilus plug-in which in turn installed the elinks browser and now all of my .html files are opening in elinks instead of firefox so how do I get .htm/.html and other web type files to open in firefox instead of elinks.
I also tried removing elinks from my system but then the files just open in gedit so again how do I associate .html (and other web files) with firefox.
BTW firefox is already set as my default browser in System > Prefs > Prefered Applications > Web Browser
I have a strange problem with my browser(s), even Epiphany....when I go to my music site [URL] then log in, go to my page and click on link to play a song the browser Crashes. It never did this before and I dont know what I could have done to cause this. It only does this on this website. Could it be that they use a Quicktime plugin to play the music? I don't know cause I used to be able to play music on there before. It doesnt do this on my Reverbnation site page, just Icompositions. If I click on the icon to restart browser a box comes up saying "we're sorry"...your browser crashed for no apparent reason.....and offers a choice to either reload the page (that repeatedly crashes) or start new session. It isn't a big deal but this never used to happen before. Could it be some bad code on that website?

When I click that item I will be moved to the workspace 7. I find this very confusing.I would prefer the behaviour to be, if there isn't a Firefox in the current workspace to start one and use that rather than reuse one in a different one.

The download button would open a dialog that offers me to choose to either open the file with Open Office Calc or save the file. I would like to open it on the fly. But an error comes up that reads:

The helper application in Firefox's Edit > Preferences is Open Office Calc. I checked in /usr/lib/openoffice.org3/program/, and found the script for scalc.
I am a new Linux user and I have tried to download three things off the internet. each time I'm notified that the download was successfully completed, but I can't seem to run them. Can someone please tell me what I am suposed to do to run them? One of the downloads was Firefox.
