am trying to connect and list my Samsung Captivate Device in Ubuntu, but i failed everytime. Here is my environment
Launching Ubuntu 10.10 (guest OS) from Windows 7 (host OS) using Virtual Box 4.0
In the host OS (Windows 7), i have enabled USB Device Filter for Samsung_Android, and i could see that device in Ubuntu 10.10, but when i use 'lsusb', it doesn't list the samsung device.
I have Samba guest shares working - win7 and android tablet see the shares. However, a media player just reports No Folders Found. The media player can see Win7 and Android samba shares. Here's the testparm -s

For those that use Virtualbox on their slackware host and have a windows (xp) guest running. I have tried various settings for sound (Alsa, PulseAudio), the AC97 drivers are installed in the Windows xp guest os, but there is no sound and there is an unknown audio device (in the windows device manager). If I remove the AC97 drivers and use the soundblaster16 drivers in the Vbox settings there is no unknown sound device, but there's still no sound. why I can't get sound working?

Plug in the headphones, press play, and listen to it. Essentially, turning my own computer into my own personal "cloud streaming service" like Ubuntu One.
I have gotten none of them to set up properly. any help would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to buy a large microSD card if I don't have to, i'd rather just stream it to my phone from my PC.
I don't want it to be WIFI only, I need it to work on my normal data connection.
How can i do to mount a scsi device ? it is a lg android phone ...

View 4 Replies View RelatedSince I use openbox with some packages from Xfce4 (mainly for convenience) I get most stuff "for free" as it were when using openbox, but I can't figure out how to mount android devices in a simple way. I can either do it manually, or install some other file manager that has this capability. This leads me to my question, I've noticed that if I install Nautilus, which automatically mounts android devices OotB, I get this functionality in Thunar as well. This leads me to believe that there is clearly a dependency package of some kind installed when running apt-get install nautilus that enables it, It'd be great to get this functionality in Thunar without having all the nautilus packages just littering about for no good reason. the required package is gvfs-backends, which I should have realized when I was unable to browse smb:// addresses. You forget a lot when you only make a fresh install once every 2 years or so.

View 1 Replies View Relatedi just upgraded to ubuntu 10.04 the netbook distro. at the desktop view there is a list of about 10 buttons/menus listed on the left hand side, is there anyway to control what buttons/menus are listed and which icons are listed under each of them? having a netbook i would like to remove and unclutter the desktop view as much as possible but i dont want to remove those apps i still want to be able to open those apps if i want to even if by removing those icons and menus/buttons makes it a pain.

It works perfectly and effortlessly on my ubuntu desktop box, but I hook it up to my server box and ifconfig does not find a usb0 device like my desktop does. OpenSUSE installed in a Virtualbox Virtual Machine and I want to set a shared folder.
1 - Set up a Virtual Machine and install OpenSUSE 11.2
2 - Create a shared folder on host (HostFolder)
3 - Setup the shared folder in Virtualbox Via the Virtual Machine details or via Devices > Shared Folders...
4 - Install dependencies for running the Virtualbox installer You need to install the right development kernelpackage for your machinetype (use 'zypper search -i kernel' to see what's installed) sudo zypper make gcc kernel-source kernel-hosttype/default-devel
5 - Run the Virtual Machine and go to Devices > Guest Additions This mounts an iso image in your OpenSUSE guest.
6 - Open a root terminal and run
cd /usr/src/linux
make oldconfig && make prepare && make scripts && make dep
cp ../linux-obj/$HOSTTYPE/default/Module.symvers .
make prepare
* A commenter on previously mentioned thread says this step is unnecessary but it doesn't work without on my system. I suggest trying step 7 first and returning to step 6 if that fails. *
7 - Run ./VirtualboxLinux yourhosttype .run from the mounted iso image.
8 - Create shared folder in OpenSUSE (GuestFolder)
9 - Test with sudo mount -t vboxsf HostFolder /home/user/GuestFolder It works? Great! Let's set up the system so it automounts for your regular useraccount instead of root-only access.
10 - Add this line to /etc/fstab HostFolder /home/user/GuestFolder vboxsf defaults,uid=1000,gid=1000 0 0
11 - It works for me but if it still doesn't automount after a reboot; sudo mount -a
I installed a Fedora 14 guest on a Fedora 14 host with Virtualbox, then i run these commands on the guest:yum install kernel-devel kernel-headersbut if i try to install the virtualbox-guest additions on the guest, is still complains about that it's unable to find the kernel source directory?Ha anyone succeded installing the guest additions on a guest Fedora 14?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a lot of trouble installing Guest Additions within the Fedora 13 Guest on a Linux host. I had to mount the vboxGuestadditions.iso from the Device --> CD/DVD Devices menu. Then I located the appropriate package for my system. In my case it was the AMD64 Linux version.I ran this as administrator in Terminal. I used the "bash" command followed by the package name. This was after CDing the the appropriate directory. The packaged installed, I then rebooted and it worked fine. (Something that would make this easier is to load a script into nautilus that would allow me to open a locatation as administartor at the open window. I'm sure there is something in Fedora to do this but I couldn't find it in a hurry so I used the command line way).

I have Ubuntu 10.04 running on my laptop. IBM R51 Been running for some time fine.I bought an android Acer Iconia A500 tablet. It has a usb port and I can plug it into my windows machine fine and see the drive etc.I plug it into my Ubuntu system and nothing mounts. I have tried several searches in google but what they say to do does not work.Is there any plans to fix this soon? I hate to boot windows to load files to my Acer.

I am trying to get Eclipse and the Android SDK working in Ubuntu. So far everything works except when you try to create a new Android project and, the build target area is grayed out. Why? I did run the android tool inside the sdk folder and created and Android 2.2 AVD. Why is it not reading it?

On past installs, my device was recognized automatically and debugging was as easy as checking "debug" in the Android's settings, but now (after updating to Maverick from Lucid) the phone registers with adb as?It mentions some necessary tasks for set-up on Ubuntu, but only mentions this process for Dapper/Gutsy/Hardy. Is there any personal experience out there that can confirm that this works and/or is necessary on Maverick?
