Jul 1, 2010I'm trying to install the HP array configuration utility cli rpm in Knoppix v6.0.1, but I'm getting failed dependencies- I'm installing using

and these are the failures I'm getting-

I've done lots of googling, and I see a lot of conflicting information about how to solve the problem- I need a real approach from someone who has been through these dependency problems before- whenever I try to solve a dependency problem I usually just make it worse I cannot find a .src.rpm file to rebuild this program from source with. Also, the /bin/sh dependency failure baffles me- can someone explain this to me?
General :: Installing Flash Player On Knoppix 6.0
Aug 14, 2009i have recently gotten the Knoppix 6.0, and have installed it on my usb flash drive. finally i can browse the internet again on that laptop, but alas, i can't watch any videos because flash player isnt installed yet. i tried to install it by myself and followed adobe's instructions but i just dont get why it won't install. here are my questions:
1. in the adobe instructions, it is said that i need to unpackage the files. and when i unpackage it, a new directory/folder is supposed to appear. but why does it always unpackage on the desktop? no folders are created when i unpackage it.
2. it is said that i need to navigate to the newly created directory and type a command. how am i supposed to navigate to a non-existent directory, huh? and how do you even navigate to certain directory? i typed help in the terminal (i'm using LXTerminal by the way) to look for a hint but i saw nothing there. so, how do you "navigate" using the terminal?
I really need to install the flash player. I've also tried using the Install components in start > system tools > install components and selected the 'flashplugin-nonfree: Flash support for your browser' but when i clicked install, nothing happens.

Sep 18, 2010I want to install knoppix on my hard disk of my netbook, I did manage to boot knoppix from usb to a live session. But when I try to install it, it says my hard disk does not have a compatible partion table or something.

Jun 9, 2011Every time I try to run another script from my knoppix.sh file, it pops up and says permission denied. I've also tried running the scripts manually after stopping the knoppix.sh script yet it still gives the same error.

I went about installing it thinking that it would all work. But it seems that I was wrong. So I try to start mysql, and here's what I get:

Dec 23, 2010I installed mysql on Ubuntu linux with the command apt-get install mysql-server. How do i competely uninstall it?
Is there a way when i install the server to configure the server options (e.g. where the data directory is). I know how to change this once installed but i was wondering if there was a way to do it during the installation for ease. All i remember from the installation procedure is that you can set the root password.

Jul 6, 2011I tried to install the package from centosplus repo but got the error cannot find libmysqlclient.so.15.Not surprising as I have libmysqlclient.so.18. If not does anyone know how I can build postfix with support for MySQL 5.5. It doesn't help that I have never built a binary before - I found a couple of good tutorials on how to build from source that seem straight forward enough but I have no idea what needs to be specified for the postfix build.

Accordingly, all Perl users for example have an identical path to Perl (e.g. /export/user/bin). The administrator suggested I'll install all the programs I need (specifically Perl and Mysql) in my personal space, and then add them to the path before the already installed ones. Accordingly, I could add/change modules without "sudo" privileges, and without changing the global setting.

May 25, 2011I've been at it all day trying to get PHP synced up with MySQL. The long and short of it is, php-mysql RPM's lead me into dependency hell (I've been trying to repent but for some reason I always end up there) after I had already used an RPM to install PHP. MySQL is fine, for now.
Here's where I'm at now... I have since uninstalled any previous versions of PHP and have grabbed the tar.gz2 version of PHP to compile / run with the "--with-mysql" option enabled. However, whenever I try to ./configure --with-mysql, I'm eventually told that "configure:error: libxml2 version 2.6.11 or greater required."
Running "rpm -qi libxml2" confirms that I've got version 2.6.26 installed... What gives!?

Jun 7, 2011i am using ubuntu 10.10. I had installed apache2 and subversion, using webdav, as described in the unbuntu wiki. SVN was working as expected, I could commit files, etc. I then installed php5 and mysql, as described in the ubuntu wiki, and i now get the following on apache restart:
