The details are as follows: Nagios version:3.0.1 At the end of installation when I try to execute the command #chkconfig --add nagios Its displaying "error reading information on service nagios : no such file or directory".
Updating my install of OpenSUSE from 11.0 to 11.3 and notice that the Nagios network monitor can no longer probe servers with self signed certs. It appears to be any monitor that used openssl 1.0.0 has an issue. If I install the openssl 0.9.8 libraries and use old plugins linked against it, they work fine.
How to see the code behind the nagios plugin: Nagios Checker? I opened the folder which i have downloaded. After that where do i have to go to see the codes? Is it in App_Codes?
So we monitor all of our disk space, but only get pages for critical. What we would like to do is have one email sent to our team every month with all the "Warnings" for our disk. I have been searching and haven't found a way to do this. Any suggestions?
I am running Server 10. I have a requirement to perform an action before the MySQL service starts, and perform another action after MySQL service stops.
I found the init script for MySQL under /etc/init/mysql.conf. I added my thing to the pre-start script there and works fine.
I am having trouble finding the script that stops the server so I can modify.
The desktop search has stopped working in Gnome.I get a message that says 'Search Service not running' with a button that says 'Start Search Service'.When I click the button nothing happens
I have little problem with gpk servce pack (from gpk-package-extra package). When im trying to make list of my packages in system i have:
Quote:
Can't write the file, no permissions. OK, but when i run gpk service package as root, program freeze, i click create packages list option but application never create this file, status is always on 0%, even after 1 hour. I saw video tutorial, where base are created by normal user i /home - why i can't Console says nothing about this.
I am trying to setup LDAP server on Ubuntu 10.04 and am sticking to the old /etc/ldap/slapd.conf file configuration.
I had to comment ldapi:/// from /etc/default/slapd since it was giving 'Address already in use error'. Also had to juggle with pid directory and file issues
After that I was able to start the slapd daemon (service slapd start) but now I am running into multiple issues:
1. Can't stop the service with service slapd stop
Code: ## Service stop returns 0, maybe because start-stop-daemon is not giving error #service slapd stop Stopping OpenLDAP: slapd. # echo $? 0
Will switching to BDB database resolve this ?Also can't I slapcat at non-root user ??
What is the best nagios web frontend available? I want one that allows to add hosts, remove them, configure them, etc. If possible, with a good documentation.
I installed Nagios following the Quick Install method from the Nagios.org web site but now I would like to add and monitor another host.I dont find a way , I have for example replaced the ip number of the localhost(127.0.0.1 localhost.cfg) for another ip number and I am able to monitor another computer that way. But then I no longer MONITOR the localhost unless I replace the ip number in the localhost.cfg file. what I would like to do is to monitor both or more computers.
i have two linux machines i have installed nagios on only one machine and i am getting graph for that one(localhost).but for the second one(host2) i am not getting the graphs so what should i do.. what should i do to get graphs for othe host (remote machine).
I want to monitor RDS (mysql database of EC2) using Nagios. In command line ( I am able to do it but I dont know how to feed it in nagios . On nagios server if I execute the following command , I am able to fetch the information of database (RDS)
I have installed nagios 3.2.2. I want to check the cpu and disk temperature. I have installed check_lm_sensors y check_sensors. If I execute check_lm_sensors -v and then I ask for sda it works. The problem is that if I want to ask for the temperature of cpu or revolutions of fans. I have tried to put "cpu Temp', cpu cpu0 but neither of them works. What are the correct names? With check_sensors I only obtain a message "sensor ok".
I have a bunch of Windows servers and they all connect to 2 networks. One of them is all public IPs (an entire /24) which is protected by a pfsense firewall. The other network is just a 48 port gigabit switch that each machine accesses using a private (192.16 static IP on a separate nic. There is no gateway/DNS/DHCP server on this private network and we want to keep it that way.
I want to deploy a ubuntu server that will connect to both networks. This server will not sit behind our firewall. It will have a public IP address from our /24 and be connected to the switch that feeds our firewall and a second nic with a static private IP that will be connected to our private network. This server will need to run nagios, run a few command line items that grep log files and serve the output via apache, and act as a VPN to allow an outside machine secure access to the private network. Sitting on this private network are various web based GUIs for the switches, UPS boxes, etc that we do not want exposed directly to the Internet. Both of these networks are mission critical so I can't change any existing settings and I can't add anything to the existing firewall. There would only be a couple of VPN connections at a time.
Do you think that ubuntu 10.04 LTS server (32 bit) would be able to handle this? I am looking at running it on a supermicro Atom D525 box with 3G of ram and a small SSD for storage.
I just installed nagios to a Cent 5.4 box. Everything is working so far except I want to add a plugin I found on nagios exchange. The file has a .pl extension. I am unsure how to add the plugin to the rest of nagios. Do I need to add it to a nagios folder and then define it. If I just try to run the pl file I get a error mesg. I am unsure if the error is caused by system misconfig or because the plugin is not installed. The plugin is check_dayime.pl and the error I get is Can't locate Date/Parse.pm Perl seems to be working as I can run simple perl scripts and perl -v spits out v 5.8.8
I've followed all the instructions in nagios documentation to install the nrpe agent in a remote host, but the daemon nrpe is not listening on port.. that means I can't even test it localhost!
netstat -at | grep nrpe returns nothing. You added the nrpe entry to your /etc/services file - done The only_from directive in the /etc/xinetd.d/nrpe file contains an entry for "127.0.0.1" - done xinetd is installed and started - done
Check the system log files for references about xinetd or nrpe and fix any problems that are reported - syslog empty..
Is there anything else I can do to correct this? I configured this yesterday and it was working ok.. but today when got into computer it stopped working
Been following the steps to do the manual installation from [URL]:installation, but when I finish I cannot access http://192.168.100.110/nconf -> 192.168.100.110 is the ip address where nconf is installed. Error: Forbidden You don't have permission to access /nconf on this server. Where is the problem? I did everything exactly as they said and got no kind of errors.
setting up Nagios which I have done quite easily, I have only one concern I am not able to setup email Notification from Postfix. I am able to send and receive mails from Postfix internally, I just need to know how to setup Postfix i.e point the server to get NAgios Notification.
Troubleshooting Nagios configuration? I'm already done with the installation and it's working fine. Now I'm working on adding Windows Server in Nagios to be monitored but the problem is my cfg_file=/etc/nagios3/objects/commands.cfg and cfg_file=/etc/nagios3/objects/windows.cfg there's no such /etc/nagios3/objects directory is existing on my nagios directory.
