Software :: Changepassword.cgi - Change The Password Using Web Displayed "user Not Found Or Invalid"

Jun 21, 2010

I have installed squid 2.6,sarge,webmin 1.5,squidguard1.3, dansguardia in a centos 5.4 version.Since I want to implement the password change option using web, i installed changepassword 0.9.Everything was working fine except the changepassword cgi. I can see the interface of change password screen and when i tried to change the password using web, it displayed "user not found or invalid. Please go back and try again." But actually there is a user with that password. My password is stored at /etc/squid/squid_passwd.I have changed the permissions to 777 .But all in vain. Where i can search for the logs?the httpd log is as follows

[Mon Jun 21 22:02:35 2010] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/sbin/suexec)

Red Hat :: Cannot Change Root Password (let Alone Standard User's Password)?

Jan 6, 2009

At the RHEL prompt, I entered the standard user's username/password combo. Linux displays a message box stating:"Your account has expired; please contact your system administrator."Next, I entered "root" in the username field and entered the root password (which expired also--keep in mind that passwords are set to expire after x days). Linux displays a message box stating:"You are required to change your password immediately (password aged)."When prompted to "Enter current UNIX password", I entered the new password (was that the right thing to do?); Linux displays a message box stating:"The change of the authentication token failed. Please try again later or contact the system administrator."I rebooted the system and got into command line mode; somehow I logged in as "root" (don't know exactly how, but needed to change the password there). At the "#" prompt, I type "passwd root"; Linux displays the message "Changing password for user root", followed by the message "passwd: Authentication information cannot be recovered.

General :: Invalid Size Displayed For SSD?

Dec 11, 2010

I have an 80GB Intel X25-M SSD drive installed on a Linux box running Debian 5.0. The file system on the SSD is ext4. I've had no problems with the drive, and have been using it for quite some time as both swap file storage as well as a place to store a few large database files which require random access.

However, I noticed this odd size readout from ls:

> ls -lh /ssd
total 34G
-rwx------ 1 root root 23G 2010-12-11 18:00 file1.dat
-rwx------ 1 root root 22G 2010-12-11 18:00 file2.dat

I changed the names of the files here for security reasons, but other than that this is exactly what ls has output. Obviously, the total size readout is incorrect.

Here is the corresponding output from df

> df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda1 74G 35G 36G 50% /ssd

Despite this incorrect readout, the drive seems to be working fine, and diagnostic utilities turned up nothing wrong with the drive. Is this some sort of known bug in ext4, or is it more likely there's something physically wrong with the drive?

General :: Parsing Err Or Invalid $END - Correct User Use Of Invalid Characters

Feb 10, 2011

Trying simply to insert into table. Have succeeded in doing this but now want to correct user use of invalid characters. If I'm understanding correctly, Real-escape-string seems to correct these, so I've been trying to figure out how to use it. A short, test code version gives me a syntax error at INSERT VALUES, which--because it still has the single quotes in the text--tells me the real-escape-string didn't work. The code below gives me a parseing error with invalid $END at </body>.

Insert Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' VALUES (UTC_TIMESTAMP,'What's happen' bra?')' at line 1 Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /home/powere15/public_html/DB/exercises_insert_record.php on line 94

Ubuntu :: Cannot Change User Password

Jan 5, 2010

I've tried both the GUI and the terminal to change my user's password and both are failing. I'm running 9.10 with current updates.

In the GUI, I type in the current password and it recognises it. I then type in the new password twice. Upon clicking change password it hangs.

In the terminal I use "passwd". I type in current password. I then type in the new password twice, but an error of:

Code:

I've even changed the new password to another something different (with NO special characters), and it still fails.

Are there certain characters I should NOT have in a password, such as /#/ or /;/?

Software :: Allowing User To Change Their System Account Password From Intranet?

Jan 10, 2011

I have configured httpd web server to allow each of the system users to have their own web page (using UserDir directive). At the same time I have configured ftp server to allow the users to upload their html files to the web server. With above set up my users need not have any knowledge of linux; they can work from any windows PC on the network. There is no problem in the above. However, now I need to allow my users to change their passwords. The point here to note is that the users should be able to do this even from windows PC on the network. One of the way is to configure a telnet server (or sshd). But I find that the windows PC does not have telnet client. The other idea is that I should put a php script on the server which would take user name and password from the web page and then change the password. I don't know how can the system account password be changed through script - I will have to check this out.
