Software :: RHEL 6.1 Where Is Konsole In 'FolderView' Mode?

Env: RHEL 6.1, KDE 4.3.
Up until now (RHEL 5.5), when I right clicked mouse, I used to see a list of menu with "Konsole" on the top . ( The others were 'Create New', 'Paste Clipboard Content', 'Icons', 'Refresh Desktop'.. etc.)
Now after installing RHEL 6.1, I don't see "Konsole" in menu. Actually, when I right click --> "Folder View setting" --> Appearance --> Desktop, I do get in a situation where if I right click, I can see the Konsole menu but then I lose the folders that were there.
I want to work with CLI (that's why I want to use 'Konsole'. But I also want to navigate using mouse clicks. So I want to see "Home" "Trash" folders in my screen.
My current setting is: right click --> "Folder View setting" --> Appearance --> FolderView.
I was using win-7. I tried to install RHEL 6 today. [dual boot]/ = 40000 MB and /boot = 1000 MBThe installation completed successfully.The problem is that it is not showing the graphical mode. Only the terminal mode is available. I tried chvt 1-7but I am unable to go to the graphical mode. It is not appearing.What should I do? I can't install rhel 6 in gui [init 5] mode in my vm (windows and linux). it install in text mode and no pakage selection coming. it open with multe-user text mode
Im trying to restore RHEL 5.3 which was previously installed on LVM. I have completly new disks.
1. I have started RHEL install DVD with option: linux rescue 2. set up network 3. connected to NFS server where the backup is stored 4. restored partition image: dd if=/mnt/source/layout.bin of=/dev/sda bs=1024 count=1 (this will preapare partitions like it was before backup. After that it is necessary to run fdisk /dev/sda and choose oprion "w" - write)
Now, I want to create Logical Volumes, but I have no "pvcreate" command in RHEL rescue mode.
i am trying to install rhel 6 (86*64) on my windows 7 (AMD Sempron 145 processor) using DVD iso image. after selecting keyboard language and it goes to ther rest of the process for 20 seconds and then the monitor goes to power save mode. trying to input with keyboard or mouse does not seems to be helping. i have changed my windows 7 powersave options to "never".
Problem installing graphical mode of red hat 5 on virtual software. But text mode is getting installed but its also taking more then 1hr. I've adjusted all the recommended options regarding memory,hard disk ,etc. Also please suggest me good virtual software for red hat enterprise Linux 5.
If I use Dosbox in full screen mode, and then exit back to KDE, my desktop icons get shuffled around.I'm using the desktop folder view in KDE 4.4.3I've noticed that this also happens with ScummVM as well, so I think it's more a KDE issue?
Environment: A 32-bit kernel RHEL5.3 system running on a virtual machine. The root(/) filesystem is on an LV.
Issue: Unable to resize the FS after extending the root LV since it is mounted. After extending the LV, online resizing of the FS was not supported and the root filesystem could not be unmounted while it was in use. On rebooting, I got a kernel panic error. In runlevel 1, I couldn't run chroot, couldn't find the /etc/fstab, root FS could not be mounted, fsck did not run (tried block 31 for second copy of superblock using dd count=1 bs=4k skip=31 seek=1 if=/dev/sda2 of=/dev/sda2), couldn't find any rpm on installation media to install unix-utils rpm. is possible to edited the default RHEL CD to have it automatically install RHEL based off of a kickstart file that I will store locally on the CD. My plan would be to put a cd in a server and have the OS automatically being installed.

I have 4 partitions in my system, out of which two(sda1, sda2) have windows on them. I have installed RHEL 4 32 - bit on sda3 and after that , installed installed RHEL 64-bit on to a partition sda 5. Now i am unable to boot into RHEL 32-bit. The error i am getting is Error 13: Invalid or unsupported executable format.
can not ping from host (RHEL 6) to RHEL 5 in (virtual)? I have stopped iptables on both machines. But still not able to ping from host machine to virtual.

A client has sent me an RHEL 5.1 box for me to do some work on, but it's not registered with Red Hat. This is causing me problems, because it's a minimal installation, and I need some more dev software.My immediate reaction was to install various bits (emacs, and so on) from my Centos 5(.0) DVD.The base RHEL system only had one (disabled) repo entry,so I added a yum DVD repo entry in yum.conf.d.
This looked good to start with, but it doesn't work. Something in RHEL's pirut/yum/rpm/whatever is getting confused, and can't work out what is/isn't installed.
Question - how do you maintain an unregistered RHEL box? Has RH done something to make life difficult? Is my problem simply that I'm using a Centos 5.0 DVD, instead of Centos 5.1? Am I stuck with downloading lots of rpms from the net and doing everything manually? I really don't want to do that.
I am trying to download RHEL 5.4 AS version for testing..But under [URL] There is no specific link for AS version or ES version..How can I detect which iso is for AS and which one for ES..? There are separate links for AS and ES version for RHEL 4.x version but why is it not available for RHEL 5.x versions?
I have a database server running RHEL 5.1 32 bit that suffered some catastrophic failures about 6 months ago. We were able to patch it back together and keep it running, but now the manufacturing site it supports is going to shut down for two weeks and I would like to replace it permenantly. Does anyone have any guidance for that sort of thing? I'd like to have the new server up and running before hand, basically changing the hostname/ip and restoring the databases only on conversion day. I've done this in the past with HP UX - Red Hat conversions, but this is my first red hat to red hat move. Any advice or shortcuts?I forgot to add the other wrinkle. The new server will be running 64bit linux.
i have old RHEL 3 system which has kernel 2.4 installed into it. I wasnt to upgrade it to RHEL 5.x so i downloaded a kernel 2.6 package but was not able to compile it.
Environment:RHEL 5.2 and 5.4 AP x86_64, 2 drives (sda, sdb), installing without optional features like clustering and virtualization. I have tried this for a couple of days now and just can't get it to work. My goal is to take the RHEL 5.2 DVD and RHEL 5.4 DVD and install them on separate drives of the same machine. I want the grub menu to give me a choice. I prefer to understand the steps and choices offered me by the install dialog to do this rather than fiddle with grub.conf. If that is not possible, I will write up the bug.
So far, I just get the the error 13 when trying to start the grub added second OS. I have read elsewhere that "Anaconda frequently recognizes the other operating system and sets up grub so you can boot from either operating system". That would be nice. The install dialog lets me choose a drive to install to. I have figured out that I need to check "review and modify partitioning layout" to enter the advanced grub choices. Do I have it install a boot loader for the 1st OS? Trying to add the 1st OS during the second OS install creates a grub conf with no kernel line in the added boot stanza.
How do I go about adding Konsole (or any other terminal) to startup? I do not have the Startup Applications in a menu list - as I am only using a distro <i>based</i> on Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex.
I just started having some problem after switching my desktop manager from GNome to KDE. One of such situation is the konsole on KDE not running popular commands like ifconfig that I run when I was using GNome. Although, I have fallen in love with KDE, I am feeling a little bereaved of some feature. where I could use KDE to mastery? (Because I want to believe that I am not doing somethings I should and not that KDE is so limited)
