Software :: Qgis With Python Support On Slackaware?
Mar 3, 2010
I am trying to build qgis_1.0.2 from subversion, on slackware 12. For some reason, sip does not get detected and therefore the python support is not enabled during setup: I build and installed successfully from source Q-4.6.2, sip-4.10 and PyQt-x11-gpl-4.7 Python 2.55 is also installed (also) as a shared library: here is the output of ldconfig:
libpython2.5.so.1.0 (libc6) => /usr/lib/libpython2.5.so.1.0
libpython2.5.so (libc6) => /usr/lib/libpython2.5.so
libpython2.5.so (libc6) => /usr/lib/python/config/libpython2.5.so

I have tried rebuilding pygtk after installing Numpy and ended up making a mess of python. I have it back to functional now, but I would like to know how to properly add numeric python support. I suspect there is a proper order to building all of the python dependencies that yields success. Ultimately I am trying to run mypaint.

I am not sure if this is a qGIS issue or something to do with my desktop themes? In both KDE and GNOME Classic qGIS 2.12 does not have a menu bar, but only toolbars. What can be possible causes of this? In KDE the Windows Decorations are set to BE II preview, with a customized Desktop theme. Could this cause the menu bar not showing?

Another Ubuntu distro, another QGIS version, but still the same hassles of trying to get QGIS in Ubuntu to take MrSid raster file formats. I just did a fresh install of 10.10 and added the unstable qgis ppa to my software sources as follows.[URL].. However, the same problem as before, we need to add gdal, and the MrSid plugin in order to be able to use sid file formats. Alas, no tutorial seem to be up yet explaining how to do this in 10.10. The previous tutorial at [URL]... Now lizardtech has released a version 8 sdk, and no explanation of how it should be installed.

I am just asking how this works in general. I know Python can wrap a C code, but here it seems Python is already integrated with this C program.Would it be correct to say one would have to understand the C code in addition to py programming in order to accomplish anything useful here?I need to control the program, and especially import its output to some algorithm that accomplishes command and control in the way of bash scripts or whatever.

I've already used line split stuff to transform my data into something like this in a text file:
Code:
['1', '1', '3', '20.7505207']
['2', '1', '3', '23.0488319']
['3', '1', '3', '-1.5768747']
['4', '1', '3', '-26.4772491']
[code]....
How can I get this on a python program so I can manipulate it as an array?

in ubuntu 10.10, I have installed python 2.7. I would like to use apt-get to install packages to this version of python but I haven't been able to figure out howThings I have tried without success:changing the symlink at /usr/bin/python to point to /usr/bin/python2.7 - even after doing this apt-get still installs stuff to python2.6.Set up python2.7 as the primary alternative using update-alternatives - doesn't work

I'm trying to find out when QME2572 (Qlogic) card became support by the kernel. We have a RHEL 5.1 system that is moving to new hardware, however the kernel at this release doesn't support the new hardware, due to the Qlogic card change. I tired the Redhat KB and Bugzilla. Is there a Kernel change list etc I can search. Never really played around with the kernel too much so I'm just after some pointers for looking up this information. Offically its not supported until Redhat 5.3, I'm trying trying to research kernel info so I can tell the customer they have to upgrade.

This problem has to do with Python's interactive help (To get to the interactive help, just type help() at any interactive session). I like to browse all my installed Python modules, to see if I can find something that would be useful for my hobby programming projects. However, recently, typing modules (which is the command to list all installed modules) freezes the interactive session.

I'm looking to dual-boot Windows 7 and Debian 6 upon its release on my sister's laptop. I want to share a partition between the two of them so that /home points to this directory and the Windows equivalent also points to it (C:Users).
Anyway, I've heard good and bad things about the NTFSMount driver (I think it's NTFS-3G now) and the NTFSprogs project and so I am not so certain what I should believe. I do know that NTFS has relatively high overhead, though I do not recall the source of this assertion, so I am considering the use of EXFAT. An open source EXFAT project is hosted on Google Code at [url] and it utilizes the kernel module FUSE.
I'm quite certain that I've got everything covered on the Windows side -- that is, I know that both NTFS and EXFAT will be suitable filesystems for my required usage.
My issue is that I'm curious which will have superior performance and stability in Debian. I planned on building the package from source and mounting the device in my FSTAB but I have also found a PPA for Ubuntu on Launchpad at [url] that I could borrow the debian/rules from and make a .deb package from.
What do you guys think? Should I go at it with the EXFAT or NTFS partitioning? Is NTFS-3G actually fairly supported at this point? Or perhaps should I consider some alternate method?
I have also considered that the only files she will be sharing are those of music, videos, and pictures so it could be better to just link /home/xxxx/Pictures (Music and Videos, too) to the new partition instead of all of /home.

I already have the Python 2.6 interpreter installed on my system. I was reading A Byte of Python, and it said to get Python 3.1. So I typed in 'sudo apt-get install python3.1' in the terminal, followed the prompts and it installed. However, now I can't find it anywhere. I go either to the PyCrust of PyShell and it still says I'm using version 2.6.6. Any advice?

I was able to compile python 2.6.5 on debian 4 etch successfully. The contents of /usr/share/python/python_defaults are now like this:
Typing "python" on terminal now starts the correct version which is 2.6.5.
The next thing I installed wxPython from wxWidgets repository. I followed the instruction explained here:

When installation was about to finish, I got this error:
I am sure something I have missed something before installing wxPython. It seems it's related to "python_defaults", but I am not sure.
