Software :: Full Screen Mode Makes Its Videos Stop / Sort It?
May 31, 2011
I've this problem since I started to play videos through the internet. Whenever the videos is on full screen, it makes not only to stop the video but sometimes it becomes choppy. Also, when I try to play a video and another one is still buffering.. The video I attempt to play is still loading until I close the another that's buffering.
My system Immediately crashes and reboots automatically whenever a video currently being played in minimal mode is switched to full screen mode "IN Any Media Player". I have googled but did not find anything relevant. code...
I've started to have problems getting some streaming videos to either go full screen or go full screen properly.
On [url] when I want to watch a South Park episode full screen it pops up a little box that says "Error Full Screen Not Allowed" and if I hover my mouse over the video connection icon is says
"current video stream 750 kbps* Max video stream 800kbps Avalible in HDGo to Fullscreen *limited by this computer"
The current avaible bandwith speed averages 2500kbps and I have a 7000kbps connection with Speedboost.
When I use Windows XP I can go to full screen with South Park Videos, only in Ubuntu can I not go full screen.
With Hulu it will go into full screen but not always the porpper way. Sometimes it will go full screen but other times it will go full screen but I have to minimize the browser window and then maximize it again and the video will play full screen but apear to be playing on the desktop as wallpaper. I don't get this problem in XP.
This seems to have just started after the last time I did a recomended automatic secuirity update with updae maager. My Video Card is a ATI Radeon 9000 at 1280x1024 true color.
I'm just on ..... and half of the videos I try to put in full screen work and the rest just freeze the frame but the audio still plays and the video continues in the background.
I have installed ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop (a thinkpad L412). It works, except for video problems : - when I want to read a DVD, I can very well see and use the menu (where it is proposed to watch the movie or choose a scene), but when I launch the movie, theplayer stops. It happens with both VLC and Movie Player (I have not yet tried other player). - If I watch a video on ..... (or other websites), it is OK when I watch it embedded in the page. But if I want to put it full screen, the sound is still OK, but the image is frozen.
I've recently begun to have the problem of whenever a flash video in Firefox 4.0 goes in full screen mode, the screen goes black and my laptop is unresponsive. However, the video's sound will keep playing.
Running ubuntu 9.10 on an hp pavilion 2000 laptop, with 2.5GB of ram and a dual core (i think). Works at perfect speed with everything, except when I'm tyring to watch a flash video which slows everything down and gets choppy, especially when in full screen. From looking around online I see some people blaming adobe and some people blaming NVidia drivers. Get the impression the problem is a bit of both.
Funny thing is it worked a lot better with the drivers that installed automatically with the ubuntu install, soon as I put the updated nvidia drivers on it started screwing up. how I go back to those default drivers? Tried unchecking the drivers listed in Hardware Drivers, but when I restarted was stuck in very low resolution, so I'm guessing that's not the same as the drivers used after installing the OS.
I am running 9.10 on a laptop with an external monitor. when i run a flash video in full screen on the external monitor and click anything on the workspace of the laptop screen, the flash video on the external monitor will revert back from full screen.
this did not happen a couple of weeks back. i have not used it for 3 weeks. maybe one of the updates in between changed some setting?
Am supposed to hand my lord and master an ubuntu laptop tomorrow morning with a presentation on it that includes two short movie clips. Impress will import the movies, they play in the edit mode but when I actually show the presentation in full screen mode the video doesn't start, it just sits on the first frame and I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it play rather than switch to the next slide.
I'm using maverick meerkat on a dell mini 1012 and oo 3.2
edit: this works (specific movies and version of OO) on my Macbook running Lucid
I'm using UNE 10.10. When I connect to a windows pc in full screen mode using grdesktop I can get out of full screen mode fine by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Enter but when I do so grdesktop/rdesktop does not appear in the list of running applications and there's no apparent way to get back to my RDC. The rdesktop process is still running as seen by the ps command. How do I go about getting the window back? Could Unity be the problem??
I was running kpdf and clicked Full Screen from within the kpdf window, I think in the View menu. Now I don't know how to regain control of the screen. I mean the menu bar is no longer present. Each time I run it, it is in full screen mode. I pressed F1 and read the section on the View menu. But it doesn't say anything about full screen.
enables a full screen mode in Gnome. I was previously able to do this via the KDE menu. The main purpose for this, was to get mplayer working in full screen mode when watching my media links. I am now unable to do this since switching to gnome.
I followed the wonderful guide in this section with all of the steps and whatnot (I forget what it is called) and I got my DVD player working. I have used both the built in DVD player, and VLC with all the required codecs and whatnot. But when I go to full screen, the player (both of them) crash and I have to eject the disc and start over. It is actually kind of weird because I can resize it larger to a certain extent, but I feel once it gets over about 50-75% of the screen, it crashes.
Just one little issue. I have noticed the video is choppy in full screen mode. I have found this problem discussed on other forums but have had no luck. I installed wubi over top of windows xp. My computer is a P4 3 Ghz with 1.5 G of ram. 80 Gig hard drive. I currently do not have a video card installed.
I am running 10.04 LTS and when I try to play Supertux in full screen mode it goes off the screen, like i see the top of the penguin. Also what is the difference between opengl and not?
I have installed ubuntu 11.04 just yesterday and have installed the necessary nvidia graphic drivers too. But when I maximize any application(be it chrome, firefox, vlc, media player), the whole screen becomes white and when I escape from it to make it of small window, it again runs normally. Sometimes it work fine, but most of the times it is like what I told above. Please tell me some solution or I will have to go back to windows.
there anyone using Cent OS 5.5 and able to watch online video's in Full screen mode? I tried multiple browser but can not watch any online video in full screen.
I use Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 64-bit stable OS with Gnome 3.14.1 and Iceweasel 31.8.0
Some times, when watching full screen videos on: „you tube”, the only way to exit from full screen is to navigate with Alt+Tab to another open window, which cancel full screen mode, or Alt+F4.
Esc and „Exit from full screen mode” down right button, do not cancel full screen. Also on vimeo full screen videos freezes on half way.
I read that these may be because of VGA so i changed the VGA adapter, problem persists!
I use my netbook for basics, Internet, Mail, Office and music. I have most of my movies in .avi/Divx. when I was using Ubuntu the default movie player would play my vids but when I went full screen the movie would just disappear and would have to shut it down and restart it. Just wondering if I will have the same problems with F14/15.
I am configuring an internet kiosk on a centos 5.3. For that I need the browser in the full screen mode but here the network manager applet does not pop up the network status as the ethernet cable is plugged in/out. I want that feature in my kiosk. This feature works fine in an ubuntu machine. update me if any particular setting is responsible for this behaviour.
Http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrica...res/lecture-4/ The above lecture can not be viewed in Full Screen mode . When the full screen displaying point is clicked the video stops and only the sound goes on.
I am using vmware and virtualbox for experimenting with different linux distros and for using windows... When I switch to full screen, the upper portion(about 50px from top) of system becomes unusable because I am not able to click with my mouse anywhere there. So ubuntu's top panel becomes unaccesible and for vmware, once it becomes full screen I am not able to minimize/restore/close it.
In full screen mode, looking at the mouse cursor, it seems to be controlled by guest system when in full screen but as soon as I move it to top of the screen, the host machine takes control of it and then I cannot access any top panels or vmware toolbar. Is there any solution to this problem... Please let me know if more information is needed from my side.I am using opensuse 11.3, KDE4.4.4, vmware 3.1.2/virtualbox 3.2.10. The problem is for both vmware and virtualbox.
I have installed the most basic Arch Linux only with command line interface as guest OS on Windows using VMware. The problem is when I maximize the Vmware window, the Arch Linux console does not adjust to the full screen. How to do this without installing X window?
I also want to make copy-paste work to and fro from windows without installing X. Is it possible?
After update of adobe plugin to version 10.1.102.64 (10.1.r102) plugin crashes if I try to switch to full screen. Previous plugin (10.1.53.64) worked perfectly well. Anybody with the same problem? My system is System76 Gazelle, Ubuntu 8.04 with all latest updates, nvidia drivers.
Additional info:
1. Same effect in Google Chrome, which uses its own plugin 10.1.r103
2. Same effect (both in Firefox and Chrome) on Thinkpad T41 with ubuntu 8.04
I downgraded plugin to r53 for now, but it's not a good idea, last update fixed some security issues.
I got a nice Christmas gift, a Westinghouse 42" TV/Monitor, and it works great with Ubuntu 10.10. The one problem I have is watching Hulu movies on it. When I go to full screen mode, the digital image slows and get blocky. When I check the settings, it is telling me I have a 32" not a 42" and there is no way to change it. It does tell me I have a Westinghouse. I also have a Roku and I believe it has a Linux OS on it and it works great
recently i installed ubuntu (gnome) 10.10. i'm lovin it but only thing is bugging me is this annoying noise whenever i try to see a video on web or using vlc. i m using dell inspiron 6400. IT has VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility X1400 My glxinfo outcome is :
HTML Code:
name of display: :0.0 display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes server glx vendor string: SGI
[code]...
now my main problem is whenever i change my visual settings from none to extra , i start getting noise on my usb headphone or even on my speakers especially if i play a video on full screen mode it become worse .. it starts constantly makeing buzzing noise. sometimes even when i minimize or maximize or scroll up down a window...
if i put the visual effects in normal mode i still get the noise on video playing full-screen mood but this is time bit low and on none mode i get the noise too but very low... so i m assuming there must be some problem with my vga card which is causing this chaos. unfortunately there is no driver for my graphics card dat ati supports on ubuntu, so i used gallium 3d project using this ppa https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/radeon .. graphics works fine now but this nosie is killing me ..
This obnoxious bar has just appeared in Smplayer at the top of the screen. It stays there even when I go full screen. Now full screen isn't full screen and there are black edges on both sides of the screen. I have not be able to figure out how to hide it. I do not need or want this onscreen display. How can I configure Smplayer to make this go away? How can I get my 16:9 full screen aspect ratio back? I have done nothing to mplayer or smplayer as far as editing any or changing any configuration files. I tried several videos and it displays on all of them. It was not there last time I used Smplayer.
