Slackware :: Best Package Of Openoffice On 64?

Jun 2, 2010

I have slackware64-13.0 & xfce. I installed somebody's openoffice package ( a repackaging of the rpms), openoffice.org-3.2.0_en_US-x86_64-1_rlw.txz and ran into crazy keyboard issues, double inserts of random keys when I type faster than a snail's pace liikee tthiis. I had errors from xkbcomp rolling off the screen.

Slackware :: Openoffice Will Not Save To Nfs Share - Openoffice 3.2.0

Jun 5, 2010

I have an nfs share that mounts automatically when kde starts.

Code:

wendy@DellNB:~$ cat .kde/Autostart/mountNAS.sh
#!/bin/bash
mount ~/TestShare
#echo "NAS Mounted"

[code]...

Gimp works fine editing and saving photos from/to the nfs share. kWrite can do its thing and read/create files on the NAS. Files I create with vim are visible and editable under windows. OpenOffice however, when I try an open a file I get "file is locked by unknown user." I open as copy and try saving to the share with a different name... No Dice, error saving to share the file is created on the share but it is empty. I did some reading and found a post that said to comment a line from a file called soffice, which I cannot find.

Ubuntu :: Package Manager And Openoffice.org-emailmerge?

Mar 3, 2011

I am new to Ubuntu, but have been using it (and falling in love with it) for the past month. However, I have hit a snag: I have been trying to install a new program, but cannot due to an issue with openoffice.org-emailmerge. Whenever I try to install something, apt-get freezes when it tries to update because it cannot update emailmerge. After a bit of googling to try to fix it, I decided just to remove the program. However, but I get the following message (if I use Synaptic, it freezes):

[Code]...

I can't do work until I install R and I can't install anything until this is fixed!

Ubuntu Installation :: Where Downloaded OpenOffice Associated Package Saved

Jan 23, 2011

I am a newbie to Ubuntu. I have installed Ubuntu STudio 10.04 Lucid, and to install Open Office, I have chosen the below method:

1. Went to System-->Administration-->Synaptic Package manager.
2. Here, I chose Open Office Package and marked something, which I now dont remember.
3. Download of the associated packages have been completed, but it is not installed. Around 99 mb is downloaded, but I am not sure where it is saved.

The problem is that, it is not yet installed. After the download, it behaved like it was installing, I waited, but of no use. How to install the same and where the downloaded packages sit in the system?

Slackware :: Openoffice Slackbuild Installs But Won't Run?

May 13, 2010

I downloaded the slackbuilds openoffice.org files, extracted them, added the original source, ran chmod +x openoffice.org.SlackBuild, ran ./openoffice.org.SlackBuild, then found the resulting .tgz and installpkg'ed it. I was able to get through all of the steps listed without any error messages and everything seemed to be going well. However, now when I navigate to opt/openoffice.org3 (the created folder) and attempt to run any of the programs from kde nothing happens. When I attempt to run them in terminal I get the following message:

root@slacktop:~# soffice
/usr/bin/soffice: line 98: /opt/openoffice.org3/program/../basis-link/program/pagein: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/soffice: line 104: /opt/openoffice.org3/program/../basis-link/ure-link/bin/javaldx: No such file or directory
/usr/bin/soffice: line 129: /opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice.bin: No such file or directory

is there some reason these files wouldn't be in there after a normal installation? I read the howto on slackbuilds.org several times to make sure I got all the steps right, and have tried uninstalling with removepkg and reinstalling and the same thing keeps happening.

Slackware :: Pkgbuild - Modern, Multi-architecture, Package Builder For Slackware?

May 25, 2010

We are pleased to present one of our new creations: pkgbuild, a tool written in standard C++, using libCURL, ZLib, BZip2 and libLZMA (part of XZ). It is a modern Slackware packages builder, network-transparent, multi-architecture, designed to greatly simplify the creation of a package, automatically executing the required post processing.

What does it do? Recognize and build packages for the following architectures: i386, i486, i586, i686, x86_64, IA64, IA32e, s390, s390x, sparc and sparc64.

Slackware :: Any Kind Of Package Manager / Slap-get / Sbopkg For Slackware ARM?

Feb 13, 2011

I am very happy to announce that today I succeeded to install full Slackware ARM on the pandaboard: URL...I did the following:

* sd with 2 partitions, one (vfat) for bootloaders (MLO, u-boot.bin) and uImage and the other one (ext2) for minirootfs
* copy xloader (MLO), uboot and uImage from Angstrom distro on the first partition
* copy Slackware ARM minirootfs on the second partition with Angstrom modules in the usual path (/lib/modules/...)
* boot in ARMedslack
* install all the others packages via NFS

I had to make some changes to configuration files as indicated here:URL...The next step is to build a kernel and modules for omap4 by myself and use them instead of the Angstrom ones. One question: is there any kind of package manager, such as slap-get, sbopkg, etc. for Slackware ARM? If not, can I use the SlackBuilds from slackbuilds.org? How to modify them?

Slackware :: Poor Quality Fonts In OpenOffice Menus

Mar 23, 2011

I'm running -current (13.37) 32 bit and have installed OpenOffice 3.2.1. The problem is the menu fonts in OpenOffice which look very thin and are not smooth. All other application fonts look very good. When I had this same version of OpenOffice installed on Slackware 12.2 I did not see this problem. In OpenOffice I have ticked the option to use system font for user interface but this doesn't seem to have any effect. I've also ticked the screen font anti aliasing option because the fonts look worse when this is not ticked. My KDE system font is DejaVu Sans, the same as it was on Slackware 12.2.

My OpenOffice package was built using a script written by Robby Workman which I think I got from his web site a long time ago. It takes the rpms and creates a Slackware package.

Ubuntu Installation :: Downloading The Package "openoffice.org-core" - Stops At Exactly 20.5 MB Out Of 27.3

Feb 23, 2011

I recently came back to Ubuntu after a long hiatus. In the last week I've installed and re-installed 10.10 several times getting things the way I want them. Although I've installed on 3 different machines and updated them all almost completely, I'm having a problem downloading the package "openoffice.org-core" On every install on all 3 machines it stops at exactly 20.5 MB out of 27.3 Is anyone else having this problem? I'm thinking it is an issue with the repo, unless someone can think of something I'm possibly missing. This problem has been continuous over the last week, isn't a temporary connection issue.
