View 7 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine is building a data acquisition system for a vehicle that will wander through city streets and roads and perhaps even off-road places. At the end of the day, back at the garage, the data must be downloaded and, if needed, upload an update of the data acquisition program. The network is wpa_supplicant, and it was chosen an USB device, because the original computer did not had any wireless interface and do not have any other possibility. The problem is that, when the vehicle comes back, very often there is no access to the on-board computer, or the connection lasts just a few minutes.
The computer must be reinitialized so the connection is back and the scripts run completely. Sometimes the connection is made, but the guys are so used to restart the computer that they do it anyhow, and then the connection does not come up, they have to restart it again.I have being thinking, as the vehicle drives all around, perhaps finding some access points along the day, if this connection trials - and failures - are messing up something. Or, the connection instability as the vehicle approaches the garage, could be driving his scripts mad?

I have two files, file1.traj and file2.traj. Both these files contain identical data and the data are arranged in same format in them. The first line of both files is a comment.
At line 7843 of both files there is a cartesian coordinate X, Y and Z ( three digits ). And at line 15685 there is another three digits. The number of lines in between two cartesian coordinates are 7841. And there are few hundreds of thousands of lines in a file.
What I need to do is copy the X Y Z coordinate (three digits) from file1.traj at line 7843 and paste into file2.traj at the same line number as in file1.traj. The next line will be 15685 from file1.traj and replace at line 15685 at file2.traj. And I dont want other lines (data) in file2.traj get altered. This sequence shall be going on until the end of the file. Means copy and substitude the selected lines from file1.traj into file2.traj.
I tried to use paste command but I cant do for specified line alone.
Here i showed the data format in the file. I used the line number for clarity purpose.

I have a 250g external HD that I use to store large things that I don't need often and don't want cluttering up my laptop (I don't have much space to play with on it). This external is formatted with a 200g ext4 partition for storage and a 50g FAT32 so that I can play back movies and TV shows on my Xbox and don't have to watch them on the netbook.
So there I was, moving my collection of Firefly episodes to the "xbox partition" from the ext4 "storage partition". Terminal is whizzing along and all is right with world. Then the power goes out. For a moment I think, "I'm fine, I'm on a laptop". No cigar. My USB hub is externally powered, which is excellent for charging cellphones. It sucks for moving files, it seems. When the power went out, the hub switched off and my drive was disconnected mid-operation. When the power was restored, a few moments later, I try to navigate back to my source directory and redo the file transfer.
The power outage had claimed nearly 100g of video, much of it difficult to replace. With a quickening pulse, I briefly panicked and reached for my recovery live cd, complete with testdisk. Then I remembered that I was on linux.
I tried to summarize the this as best as possible in the title. I am writing an initial value problem solver in the most general way possible. I start with an arbitrary number of initial values at arbitrary locations (inside a boundary.) The first part of my program creates a mesh/grid (I am not sure which is the correct nuance), with N points total, that contains all the initial values. My goal is to optimize the mesh such that the spacing is as uniform as possible. My solver seems to work half decently (it needs some more obscure debugging that is not relevant here.)
I am starting with one dimension. I intend to generalize the algorithm to an arbitrary number of dimensions once I get it working consistently. I am writing my code in fortran, but feel free to reply with pseudocode or the language of your choice.Allow me to elaborate with an example:Say I am working on a closed interval [1,10]

So would you have 6 points on [1, 5.5] followed by 4 on (5.5 to 10]. The key is to minimize the difference in spacing.I have been working on this for 2 days straight and I can assure you it is a lot trickier than it sounds. I have written code that

just bought a HTC legend. and my last phone was the iPhone 3g, used to iTunes just downloading the podcasts then syncing them.
Is there a Ubuntu program that can not only download podcasts but sync with an android phone? then arrange the playlist from ubunutu side.
Not looking forward to manually transferring them over and arranging them on the mounted drive the phone creates.

I am trying to write a program in C which compares two files and prints the line that is equal.

Note: file2.txt consist of only a single string where as file2.txt has multiple lines. Actually im comparing two files with md5sum values.

I've a question regarding two camera images. Suppose I've detected 2d window coordinate of 8 markers of an object in a scene in one camera and detected window coordinates of 10 markers of the same object on another camera.
I've detected the marker. It was easy. Now how do i know which window coordinates on two cameras are the coordinates of same marker? I mean there are markers captured on both cameras and some of them are representing the same marker in both cameras. I just like to know which ones are same on both cameras. Is it possible to find that out using opencv?

I wanted to know how can I change the default place of shared object files of a program in a system. let me explain it better for you : I have an embedded computer with Linux OS that its file system is read only and I can not add any file to /usr /lib and ..... and I can just mount a SD memory card to it and copy all of my programs to it and run them from there as you understand I have two choices to choose, first make one big binary file for each program that I am doing it now and it is not a suitable solution and the second is finding the way to change default place of shared object file of my program.

When I try to initialize classes (using the variable type and the variable, followed by the class's arguments [three unsigned 8-bit integers] in parentheses) and try to compile the Vala code to C code what I tried to AVOID doing, as I really wanted to create a shared object file, but now I know I have to use C code as a middleman, the compiler tells me it expects a semicolon between the class variable name and its members.
What?! A semicolon in a bad place, that's for sure! Why would I want to put a semicolon *BETWEEN* the class initialization and its members? Isn't the whole point of a class to *HAVE* different members? Here is my class:

I have some data files that should be distributed with my program. Using dist_pkgdata_DATA in Makefile.am, I get these files installed to /usr/local/data/share/package-name. The problem is that data is read-only, and my program needs to modify it. Playing with dist_sharedstate_DATA, dist_localstate_DATA, dist-data_DATA varibles, I got different installation directories, like /usr/local/com, usr/local/var, but data is always read-only.
How can I distribute modifiable data files with my package? I need some common directory for all users, or maybe local data in a user directory.
