Programming :: Objects And Assignment In Interpreter?
Feb 9, 2011
I have it so that an Env object contains all the variables in the current scope, and the parent scope. You can also save them to variables like objects, and my idea is to use the "." operator to get values from them.
First, how do I assign to them? I currently have it that only a variable name can be assigned to, but you should be able to assign to an "obj.value" expression, too. How do I keep track of what variable to set and still be able to say it in an expression and have it evaluate to the variable?
Second, these object don't really have a "type", they're just containers that contain any values you want under any name you want. How can I, for example, define a primitive "boolean" object and have things like if statements recognize it?

does the assignment operator copy all the members also for structures containing STL objects strings,vectors,vectors of vectors...)? I did try it on my platform,and it works that way (copying all the fields),but i was wondering if it is a standard behavior or not.

I have a partially completed interpreter that has first-calss functions and can store scopes in variables. That way it is possible to implement a simple class like this:
Code:
MyClass = func () {
value = 0;
setValue = func (x) value = x;;
[code]....
But what about inheritance, and what if I want to know the type of the object?

As some of you know that I am new to this forum. I have another problem that I got stuck on. I have this file called "Fib.rbb" and my instructor told us to write an interpreter program by using Fib.rbb.
"You are to write an interpreter in Perl for Rongs Basic Basic (RBB) as explained in class. The BNF description for RBB and a test file called Fib.rbb are part of the RBB.zip file which is available in the Course Documents folder on blackboard. If you call your interpreter myIntp.pl, you would execute the program via perl myIntp.pl Fib.rbb
Code: Print "A few Fibonacci numbers:"

it's been a long time since I did coding in C, but thought to pick up a very old project again, just to show off what I have been working on ten years ago.I deducted my problem as follows:
Code:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>
#define bit1 1
#define bit2 2
[Code]...
Why is it saying that bar->act is not a valid lvalue while both bar->act and the bit are cast to (long long)?

I have a question about shared objects and when mapping and linking is established in the following code...Well more of a verification.
getsetx.c - shared object source code Code: unsigned long x = 0;
unsigned long getx(void)
{
return x;
}
[Code].....
Now its my understanding when I execute ./testit, getsetx.so will get mapped into its address space at start up and testit will link any functions as they are needed..

I have two classes, for argument's sake A and B. A implements the core functionality, B is an encapsulated data structure. If you imagine this situation

From within B's member functions, I would like to access the public function() in class A. This is not an inheritance issue, they are two discrete classes with radically different functionality. Class A makes an object of B.

The goal is to auto-update a webpage that contains links to network devices. These devices are all set to DHCP, and their hostnames are not guaranteed to stay the same, so static IPs or accessing via hostname is NOT an option.
Process: Run a script every hour or so to query devices on the local network to generate a list of responding devices by MAC address and what their current IP is (results.lst). Using a "static" MAC address list file "printers.db" as the database search "results.lst" to find specific MAC addresses. When a match is found, grab the IP from "results.lst" and update "index.html" with the new IP address. No comparison needs to be done between "results.lst" IP and "index.html" IP as I just want to overwrite whatever is there.
Here is what I have so far (using dummy data): PRINTERS.DBProduct Mac Address Printer1 00:00:00:00:00:11 Printer2 00:00:00:00:11:11 Printer3 00:00:00:11:11:11 Printer4 00:00:11:11:11:11 Printer5 00:11:11:11:11:11 Printer6 11:11:11:11:11:11 TEST.SH

[code]....
This is what the object currently looks like:

Using: Open SUSE 11.0 64 bit, KDE 3.5.9 (release 49) and KDevelop 3.5.1. Problem: A singleton was created in subproject A, and so an object file is created in subproject A. In subproject B, I want to use that object file. We have not been able to find a way to link that object file created in subproject A with subproject B. Also, the subprojects are in different directories. We created a symbolic link to the ".h" and ".cpp" files in directory A. And the project compiles and links just fine after adding the symbolic link to the header and cpp files in subproject B. My concern is, that two objects of that singleton will be created. The whole idea of making a singleton is so that there is only one instance at a time.

I got across a peculiar problem with memcpy.History:writing a code which do flash/Read functionality for SPI Parts.
Implementation:
1.memory map the Flash chip registers to userspace. - fine
2.Issue block read command
3.Just print the data I got, using the memory mapped address - fine I got the correct data.
4.Copy the data to a local buffer from memory mapped address using memcpy - FAIL
UPDATE:
on SUSE 11.3 -32 bit the above code worked perfectly, but on SUSE 11.4 - 64bit , Ubantu, Fedora it failed.
I am using gcc compiler obviously. I am using i386/x86_64 OS. Processor: Intel core 2 duo, SNB after step 4 , when I dump the data from local buffer every thing is FF.But step 4, if i implement byte by byte copy using assignment operator, it worked.is there any known bug with memcpy? am I missing anything?

I feel there's a bit of a misunderstanding going on between C++ and me...My problem is that I have a deque of pointers to a class, and create objects then add them to the deque in a for loop. However, the destructor is called on the object as soon as the loop quits.
Code:
This prints:
Code:
Now, if I change the deque from deque<Test*> to deque<Test> then it works fine - I get:
Code:
However, I can't do this with my actual code, because I am creating a deque of pointers to an abstract class, so it won't let me instantiate the class. (This is all so that I can take advantage of polymorphism, and call functions on a set of similar objects without worrying what type of object I'm dealing with).
So, I suppose my question is: what is the correct way to create that deque of pointers to the abstract class? I don't seem to be barking up the right tree currently.

I want to create a "Shared Memory" in linux, then create multiple "Shared Objects" that can access to a Table for example; And one of them can write something into the Table and the other can access and read it, so that these operations can be handled by programmer! I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 and I've set it's runlevel at 3 (I have commandline environment now!) I've searched the Internet so much, but couldn't find a good sample code for this! I have no experience about it and need your help to introduce me a sample code about it and advise me how to compile and use it with "GCC"?!

I just wanted to install Maya 2010 on Fedora 12 x86_64, but setup alway ends with the following error (right after having started that):
Code:
bash: ./setup: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter
Autodesk recommends Fedora 9 for Maya, but I wanted to give it a try on F12. So before giving up on that one, I've got some questions:
1. What's an ELF interpreter, anyway?
2. Is there any workaround for that problem, or do you have some suggestions on what I might try?

I am using ubuntu hardy and python 2.6.5 (built from sources). For a custom python packager I need to rebuild python interpreter (python executable). I am new to linux and don't have much knowledge of gcc and other stuff. Here is the process:1. Copy python.c as myapp.c. myapp.c is in the same directory (python2.6.5) in which I have all the required files. 2. Using the syntax from makefile of python sources, here is my first command to produce myapp.o
Code:
gcc -pthread -c -fno-strict-aliasing -DNDEBUG -g -fwrapv -O3 -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -I. -IInclude -I/home/zeno/installed/Python-2.6.5/Include -fPIC -DPy_BUILD_CORE -c myapp.c -o myapp.o
This produce myapp.o but throws a warning:
Code:
myapp.c:24:2: warning: no newline at end of file
Next is to produce the executable or python interpreter:
Code:
gcc -pthread -Xlinker -export-dynamic -o $@ myapp.o -L. -lpython2.6 -lpthread -ldl -lutil -lm -o myapp
This is causing an error:
Code:
/usr/lib/gcc/i486-linux-gnu/4.2.4/../../../../lib/crt1.o: In function `_start':
(.text+0x18): undefined reference to `main'

I downloaded a Perl script from off a page on the Internet, and tried to run it. It displayed its source in the web browser. First of all, I am in the cg-bin containing my cgi file and the file permissions are set to 755. I open the Terminal in this folder and run ls, which lists my file called hello.cgi; I run hello.cgi, and get a not found error, and run ./hello.cgi and get source code less comments:
Code:
me@fast:~/Files/Website/perl-dropdown/cgi-bin$ ls
hello.cgi redir.cgi
me@fast:~/Files/Website/perl-dropdown/cgi-bin$ hello.cgi
[code]....
Next I open my Synaptic and search for perl, so I can reinstall it. I find nothing. I navigate to /usr/bin and eventually find perl and perl5.xx as well.

I wrote a script to use egrep to search files for '#!/usr/bin/python' so I could tell what my Python scripts were/where they were. It grabs 'ls' and separates it into an array. It uses ls -F so I can pop anything with a / in it; giving me just files. It then egrep's them. Here's the code.
Code:
#!/usr/bin/python
import commands as com
ls = com.getoutput("ls -F")
ls = ls.split("
[Code]....
When I run all that code in the interpreter, it works. If I run it from Bash (eg ./egrep) it throws me an error like this 'egrep: [Screenshot.png]: No such file or directory' for every file in the directory. Also, it doesn't filter out the directories either.
