View 4 RepliesI can only hear sound from my front speakers but not from the rear ones. And everytime I reboot I have no sound and manually have to do 'alsaconf'.For information about what I have done: I have only 'su' to root and put 'alsaconf'.It detected my soundcard and the sound works but only the front ones. As I am new to debian(I have installed debian lenny), I would greatly appreciate any help as to what should I do.On googling around I found that I have to edit some "asound" file.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble getting the audio to work on this computer (ACER 5570-4765 with PCM Audigy ZS 2) running Ubuntu Studio 10.10. I can get JACK to run without errors but I am not sure if settings are correct. For now I would just like to listen to music using Audacious but I would eventually like to record guitar using Rakarrack (I have this installed but I am having zero luck with this as well).
Here are a few lines from the JACK message screen.

I would like wireless rear speakers without breaking the bank. Creative's Sound Blaster Wireless Transmitter seems to be the ticket. I would like to get pulse audio to blast the rear left and right channels through the sound blaster usb card and the other channels through the AC97 card built into my mobo (I think its ac97, anyway it works right now). I would like a real 5 channel experience using two different sound cards. If there is delay, can I adjust for it?
View 1 Replies View Relatedi just installed a new Ubuntu 10.10, but i have no sound at all. I google-d for my problem, but i cant find any fix. In sound preferences - everything look great and working - there is my X-fi Xtreme audio CA0110-IBG, and i can choose how many channels to use, but when i go to test button, there are no sound from any channel. I got 5.1 sound system, and i use Flexijack for mic. Im confused, because everything looks like working - the system recognises my sound card, but there no sound at all. I tried to kill pulseaudio, but it not help me.

I just bought a Creative Soundblaster X-fi Surround 5.1 Pro, and I'm having trouble getting it to work with flash or vlc. I hear audio from Amarok (audio player) and DragonPlayer (video player), but when I use vlc or flash it just comes out of my onboard speakers.
Here are two images of my audio setup:

I have a Creative SoundBlaster live SB0490 USB sound card. Alsamixer only shows a mic channel for this card although it has a line in. Is this because it is not supported or how it is meant to be? I have problems with no audio out on a program which directly accesses the card as hw:1 although it is actually using it and wonder if this is all related. Strangely I can play sound through the card using rythmbox.

My sound card (Soundblaster 24 live! USB) stopped working shortly after upgrading to 10.04. everything was fine until the upgrade as well a immediatly after, so I assume that an update was to blame. If I boot the PC off a live CD, all is well and the sound card works fine.
I've tried running
aplay -l
but it assured me that I do not have a sound card on the system to setup! how I find the broken config file or busted driver?

Neither with kaffeine, Me tv or tvtime can I search for channels? I run 11.2 Asus laptop Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7300 @ 2.00GHz
When I start Rosegarden, my computer freezes. No faillure reports, nothing. Tyan-Tiger K8W, two Opterons 250, 4 GB memory, OpenSUSE 11.3, Linux 2.6.34.4-0.1-desktop x86_64, KDE 4.4.4 "release 2".

Ironically, VLC now works a treat, when upgrading that in 10.3 killed it.Xine doesn't want to work (restricted format), and Kaffeine isn't playing any files either. Has something been dropped from my previous setup, or do I have an inadequate installation? I'm not very command line oriented I'm afraid;I just expect things to work as they did before...:-)
View 4 Replies View RelatedAbout two weeks ago I enabled KDE factory repo to get the latest KDE 4.4. Everything was fine until a recent update, which caused sound working only in some applications. View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed the Fluendo decoder following the tutorial linked to from here (but just downloaded the RPM so I wouldn't have to unpack anything). Now "fluendo-codecs-mp3" is showing up in my software manager as having been installed, but I still can't play MP3 files in either Amarok or Kaffeine. One thing I've noticed is that, in the software manager, under "Installed (Availabled)" it says "11-3" in red. This was such a simple thing to fix in Ubuntu, I'm baffled by how much trouble I'm having right now. Please help me so that I can justify the eight hours I spent downloading openSUSE. I love the interface and would hate to go back to Ubuntu's oranges and browns (and Gnome).

mandvd doesnt produce the correct output: I every time get an error-message that says there is a problem with the menu-creation. I have installed the latest package of DVDauthor. mandvd2 doesnt work at all: The rendering process is completed after 6 seconds.
I cant start KMEdiaFactory: "KMediaFactory uses "MJPEG Tools (mpeg2enc)", and this has not been found on your system. You must install this before KMediaFactory can continue." However mpjec tools are installed.bombono DVD doesntt create an iso but a corrupt mpeg file. I really need good advice here, I cant fix it alone. I never could solve a single problem with the community. I think now its time to start.

There is a basic driver for it. I was wondering if anyone got it to work. Or is there another card that has been used successfully, especially with recording from a microphone. I am getting poor input from the mic source. Levels are low and broken up. Extensive research has pointed to ALSA/PulseAudio not being able to fine tune all sound cards. I am using the onboard currently, an ALC262.
In the meantime I was tempted to set the priorities higher for sound in general, in other words tweak ALSA and PA. Reason being is that many across a few distros have problems when resources are squeezed, like the times when proc load is at or near 100%, for example. I do not know how to tweak sound. Does anyone know?
I still want to try the Titanium since it could be utilized in 7 (ouch) as a luxury for recording "what you hear", and for superior sound reproduction as well.
I was trying to make the mic to work on openSUSE 11.3 x64 (it's a headset's mic). At the beginning I thought it was just a mater of plugging the mic on, as it's the earphones'case, but didn't work. Then I found this link: Skype, KDE4, OpenSUSE 11.3 and PulseAudio Doesn't sound bad, but I also use Wine and Pulseaudio is said to be not compatible with it.
So, if Pulseaudio is enabled with setup-pulseaudio --enable, how do I disable it should I find problems with Wine? Is Pulseaudio really needed to make the mic to work, or it depends on what I want to use it for?
i have a 3g ipod touch and i need to know how to get it to work in opensuse 11.4 running kde desktop.

I am using Open Suse 11.2 on my HP DV6 notebook. I am connecting my television to the notebook with a HDMI cable and the television is unable to find any signal. Am I missing anything here? Shouldn't it be simply connecting the HDMI cable finding the source channel on the television and then I get sound and picture..

I'm hoping to find a batch of codecs for my newly installed openSUSE OS. I have a very troublesome collection of .mkv files that took several codec packs to make them work. For a brief explanation, I had tried haali and matroska both together and they still didn't work on certain mkvs. I ended up using CCCP, but that's win only as far as I can tell. It took the latest update of CCCP to work on all of my mkvs.

I have followed the posted instructions on the "restricted formats" as specified in the stickie on the forum.
When I insert an audio CD, I can see the mp3/ folder in KDE with the tracks on the CD, but whenever I try to copy one of the mp3 files from the folder I get a VERY wide error messagebox stating that lame threw an error.
[When I use the command line tool "ripit" - the mp3s are generated without problems, so I assume all my encoders are working.]
Copying an ogg file with the KDE audiocd integration works fine, but unfortunately ogg is not supported on an iPod, and since ripping CDs through a VM with iTunes takes forever and a day, I want to rip the mp3 files and then copy to the VM so I can use iTunes to sync them to the iPod (sigh).
And yes, I would prefer to use Amarok to sync to the iPod directly but I made the mistake of buying an iPod recently and I've found that the 5/6th gens don't work (and probably never will) due to the hash encryption.
I updated Audacious to latest version v2.5.1.1 & it wont work anymore.
Whats up with that?
I wanted to downgrade to previous version but i cant find older versions of Audacious.
