This obnoxious bar has just appeared in Smplayer at the top of the screen. It stays there even when I go full screen. Now full screen isn't full screen and there are black edges on both sides of the screen. I have not be able to figure out how to hide it. I do not need or want this onscreen display. How can I configure Smplayer to make this go away? How can I get my 16:9 full screen aspect ratio back? I have done nothing to mplayer or smplayer as far as editing any or changing any configuration files. I tried several videos and it displays on all of them. It was not there last time I used Smplayer.

I've been Googling all day and cannot find the answer. I find all the "GUI" ways to do it through Gnome and KDE but I'm not using either...I have an EEE PC set to boot up automatically to openbox and want Firefox to start after that in a full screen openbox window.I've tried adding the firefox command to ~/.initrc but it won't execute. I tried the command in .profile. This brings up firefox on a black screen without openbox.Firefox comes up fine when executed from the openbox menu.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIN 3.5.10 I am able to display the full $PROMPT_COMMAND environment variable in the Konsole title bar. Kind of handy and I did not need to display that information in the $PROMPT variable.
In 4.5.5 I am having trouble figuring out how to make that work correctly. The title bar displays only the directory name rather than the full path and user name.
This is my $PROMPT_COMMAND:
history -a;echo -ne "33]0;${USER}@`uname -n`: ${PWD}07"
All I see in the title bar is:
dirname: bash
I should see:
username@hostname: full path to present working directory
I recently upgraded my graphics card from a Geforce 7600GS to a Gefore 560Ti. And while most things are normal, during boot up my screen isn't "full screen" until X is started, after which everything else is fine. Essentially, all display, the grub menu, the splash screen, console text, etc, is within a box on the screen, with 2" on the left and right, and 1" top and bottom of empty blackness.
From what I understand, this is because the framebuffer is using the wrong resolution, but the maximum resolution that hwinfo --framebuffer returns is 1280x1024 (which I am already using "0x031a".) (My monitors is natively 1920x1080) Is it possible to do something about this? If not increase resolution than at least stretch the screen to full screen?

OpenSuse 11.3 with nVidia drivers.I have the screen working fine though it only runs in 1600x1200@75 using the nVidia driver (GTX260 card). When I play a game in full screen mode all seems OK but when I exit the game then I just get the mouse pointer on a black screen. There must be something present since the cursor changes as I move it, normal pointer -> hand over a link etc. It's just that black on black isn't very readable.

How can I correct this?
Konqueror opens in full screen every time which is more a nuance than an issue, I just haven't had time to search why; I'm seeing if anyone else has this issue or knows the preset to change how K. starts up. I don't use Konqueror enough. I can right click to take it off full screen mode, but for who ever else who uses it, it can be a nuance.
I also have this same issue with Thunderbird, but I can't get it out of full screen mode there is no menu bar up top to reduce, minimize or close out.
I was playing a game called "BZFlag", it's a full screen game, and I saw someone sent me an message on skype and I pressed "alt+tab" trying to get out from the game... but nothing happens, i was still in game, and i couldn't quit the game, the game wasn't catching my keyboard input at all.

View 2 Replies View Relatedever since i started using opensuse at the end of december, this has been bugging me. when i try to watch a full-screen videos video in either chromium or firefox, it lags to the point where maybe i'm getting 0.5 frames per second. ironically, when i launch chrome in virtualized windows 7 (virtualbox) to watch a full-screen flash video it looks smooth as butter. yes, even with the virtualization overhead and everything.
i'm using adobe flash 10,3,181,22 from the opensuse repositories, chromium 15 and firefox 5. i'm on a 64-bit system.
I know that you can make it full screen, however it just makes the background OS's background black, and still provides a smaller display. Is it possible to make the guest OS's screen (or display) full size?
View 6 Replies View Relatedi recently bought a pre-Win7 loaded netbook, and soon discovered anytime i moved a window and even accidently bumped the top edge of the screen the window would instantly pop to full screen side to side and top to bottom..i figured it was just another Redmond 'innovation' and just got in the habit of not bumping the top..but, now on KDE i see exactly the same behavior...is this something new in 4.6 or, is it just on this machine (maybe a BIOS intercept) or what the heck is it??
i have looked for and not found a way to turn off this abomination in user interface 'innovation' in either openSUSE 11.4 or Lose7..(i'm kinda tired of having to click it down from full screen--this is a MULTI-threaded system and i do not use just one app at a time..)

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I play a video web stream full-screen, the image randomly freezes. I can still move the mouse and hear the audio, but I can't click on anything, and I can't get out of full-screen. No keyboard commands that I know work, and so I end up having to hold down the power button to kill the machine.
This didn't happen in Ubuntu, so I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue. And I changed the power management settings to do nothing, but it still happens. So, I don't know what the deal is. Should I try a different flash player (I have the adobe player as default)?
For some reason my gnome-terminal is starting in / when it should be ~ I have checked /etc/profile, ~/.bashrc and /etc/passwd and everything seems fine as far as i can tell Konsole and xterm are starting up with the working dir to my home dir (as set by /etc/passwd) But im at a loss to see where gnome-terminal is starting in / if i enter cd with no argumants in gnome-terminal it is switching to ~ fine, so i dont think its mistaking my home dir for /
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using vmware and virtualbox for experimenting with different linux distros and for using windows... When I switch to full screen, the upper portion(about 50px from top) of system becomes unusable because I am not able to click with my mouse anywhere there. So ubuntu's top panel becomes unaccesible and for vmware, once it becomes full screen I am not able to minimize/restore/close it.
In full screen mode, looking at the mouse cursor, it seems to be controlled by guest system when in full screen but as soon as I move it to top of the screen, the host machine takes control of it and then I cannot access any top panels or vmware toolbar. Is there any solution to this problem... Please let me know if more information is needed from my side.I am using opensuse 11.3, KDE4.4.4, vmware 3.1.2/virtualbox 3.2.10. The problem is for both vmware and virtualbox.
I have 11.2 installed on my laptop but have a bit of an issue. When I boot it normally, it will not use my full screen, instead it only uses about a 5"x5" box in the center and displays there, but when i boot into failsafe, it uses the full screen.
