General :: Ssh Login Without Password From Local To Remote And Further To Another Remove?

Apr 15, 2011

I know I can ssh login without password from a local to a remote. My question is how I can ssh without password from the remote to another remote. Say, I have three machines: A, B, C where A is the local machine. I use the same private/public key pair for all the login. What I can do are:

1. ssh from A to B.

2. ssh from A to C.

3. If I am sitting in the computer B (or B is local), then I can ssh from B to C.

What I am not able to do is:

After I ssh from A to B, I cannot ssh from the B to C. When I try to ssh from B to C, it asks me a passphrase.

Networking :: SSH Login Without Password On Distributed Program On Redhat?

Aug 4, 2009

I'm using a program on a group of servers which contact each other using SSH. I've got the authentication keys setup with no password but when one box tries to connect to another it wants the password for the user it's trying to communicate with. So the main problem is there is a lot of communicating within this program so it's important to allow each box communicate with each other without the use of a password. I'm using OpenSSH 4.3 with OpenSSL 0.9.8 on Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5.3 (Tikanga). I'm also using SSH on Ubuntu(Intrepid) to connect to these servers at the mo as i don't have direct access to the boxes.

Security :: REDHAT Missing Functionality - Force User To Change Password On Login?

Mar 16, 2011

I have now been trying to find an answer for the following for a while and can't seem to get anything. On previous linux distros we had the option available "passwd -e" which allowed us to force the user to change their passwords upon the next login.s functionality however seems to be excluded from latest linux distros (currently using RHEL 5.4)...Does anybody know how the same effect can be achieved and perhaps any idea on why this option was removed as it was great for securing passwords

General :: Password Database On Redhat?

Jan 7, 2010

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good password database I can download for Redhat. It only needs to be basic with a few options such as 'hostname', 'userid', 'password' etc and will allow read access for everyone but only allow administrators to edit, create, delete entries.

Most of the downloadable Password Databases run on Windows but apart from Gringott's I am unable to find a suitable database which will run on Redhat.

General :: SSH Login - For Additional Users After Password-less Login Setup

Feb 10, 2010

I've set up password-less login for user1 on a Ubuntu machine to login automatically into a Fedora box using the publickey authentication method. Everything is working smoothly. Now, there is a user2 on Fedora but he does not have an account on Ubuntu.

I tried to login as user2 from Ubuntu to but got the following error :

Code:

Predictably neither scp or sftp work either. I have several questions as a result.

1.Is the SSH server rejecting user2 login because I am inadvertently using user1 keys (as I am logged in as user1) ?

2. Do I need to have a user2 account on Ubuntu and public/private key authentication setup with Fedora for user2 to be able to login ?

3. Is there a method I can use to password login as user2 from Ubuntu to Fedora (even though there is no user2 account on Ubuntu) AND still keep password-less login for user1 or do I have to have password-less login for both ?

At present the only way to access the user2 account from Ubuntu is to SSH using the user1 account and then su to user2.

Ubuntu :: Remote Desktop Login To Gdm After Remote Restart

Feb 6, 2011

I maintain plain vanilla Ubuntu 10.04 systems for several friends. Each machine has only one user, the owner. I use Remote Desktop to instruct and to perform maintenance. Here's my problem:After updating the system, if the kernel has changed, a restart is needed. If I do a restart, I then have to phone the owner to insert his login credentials in the gdm login screen, before I can do anything else via Remote Desktop on that machine. There ought to be a simple way I can avoid the phone call and login myself.

I'd strongly prefer not to use any software that is not included in a plain vanilla Ubuntu 10.04 installation. And I don't want to weaken system security beyond what it is now.Is there a solution? Or, what is the simplest solution?

I hope this is not a totally ridiculous question. I use putty often to remotely connect to my laptop at home. I recently learned about the Linux framebuffer, and was curious if there was a tool like putty that would let me remotely connect to my laptop but use the /dev/fb0 device for forwarding graphics. Sort of like a vnc or X11 forwarding, but instead of using X, gdm, kdm etc. we use the framebuffer.
