i have no sound on my laptop and my browser says missing plugin i tried to download adobe flash player but even if i load it does not go away.i downloaded skype too and loaded it but can run it , it says cant read

I'm trying to load the flash stuff in webpages, but it says i need the flash plugin.
I download the YUM rpm installer, and use yum localinstall to do it.
Terminal say: /home/wade/Download/adobe-release-i386-1.0-1.noarch.rpm: does not update installed package.
I have already tried installing it, and it says it worked fine, but I'm still unable to view flash.
I am having problems getting Adobe flash player to load.I went to there site and could only find the Linux download for Ubuntu 10.4 so I tried to load it using update manager to no avail cant seem to get it working in version 11.4, Works fine in version 10.10 . has anyone else had this problem?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have ubuntu loaded on my Dell as the only operating system. It was working fine. I would just keep it on all the time, so if there was a problem with it booting previously, I wouldn't have known about it. I recently installed long overdue updates, and when I restarted the computer, it wasn't able to boot. I've tried several times, and I always get the same black screen with white text, and a message it gives me. I'll put that message below the dotted line on this post. There was a series of numbers in there, but I'm not posting those just in case it would be a security risk (not sure if it's a code or something).

I have used the command timidity -EFreverb=0 -iA -Os so that I can hear sound when I use tuxguitar. My problem now is that I can no longer hear sound when browsing the internet. My web browser is Firefox. By right clicking my mouse on the websites where I cannot hear sound a dialog box about adobe flash player 9 appears. There have not been any error messages.

At the end, still no sound.The sound worked perfectly before the Adobe upgrade. To be clear, now have no sound period, no system sound, no playback sound, no sound online, offline, nada.I am running Ubuntu 10.04, which I don't want to update at this time. I'm running this OS on a desktop PC and have no idea what sound card I have.I recently installed a new ALSA mixer and have checked to be sure nothing is muted. Is there any diagnostic output I can refer to to find what libraries are missing if any? Using Firefox. HW is Creative Audigy2 on Gigabyte AMD890 mobo, Phenom II 4 core Sound works everywhere except Flash.

However, when the same video was replayed on an upgraded Ubuntu 10.10, the video part was fine fine while the audio couldn't be heard. Anyone encountered the same problem? Anyway to fix it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get HDMI audio to play from my Dell XPX M1330 laptop through a HDMI cable to my Sony Bravia TV.
This is a dual booted laptop. Booting into Windows 7 on the same laptop and streaming the desktop through HDMI cable to the TV shows up on the TV just fine, including sound through the TV's speakers.
However, when booting into my Debian laptop, with the HDMI cable already plugged in, I am able to play the videos, but no sound comes out of the TV's speakers. (plugging in the HDMI cable after logging into Gnome hangs up the entire system and I have to cold boot; setting that problem aside for now).
Since Windows 7 can figure this out, I consider this just something I don't have configured properly.
What do I need to do in order to enable sound to be piped through HDMI to the TV's speakers?
System details are shown below:

It tears or shears badly, although is still usable. No tearing is obvious on computer TV like TvTime. 10.0.32.18 is the flashplayer version. Debian Lenny backport .30.
Should vsync be enabled or something? Do not know if it's enabled at the moment. How is this done?
Flash player was working all right. Still works allright but when go to full screen the picture is still, not moving, but the sound keeps on going. It *may* have something to do with upgrading to Ubuntu 10.10.

I'm at a lost right now, I tried researching to find a possible reason, but I'm coming up short. I have a dual boot laptop with both fedora core 12 and windows7. Could there be a conflict between the two drives? I have the YUM extender on my linux drive performing the updates for me. i recently installed (wubi) ubuntu 10.10 on to a new hdd - i had trouble with my microsoft wireless keyboard & mouse - which ended in me replacing them.ubuntu is running ok but i can't install adobe flash player from the videos prompt? i get a message: package "adobe-flashplugin" is virtual - i just don't know what this is.

I'm on Slackware 13.0. I downloaded the tar file for Adobe flash player (install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz) to my /tmp.
But when I invoke "tar -xzvf install_flash_player_10_linux.tar.gz" all I get is a file libflashplayer.so in the same /tmp directory.
I was expecting a folder with the same name and more than the one file in it.
