I feel little silly asking this, I accidently removed from my gnome panel my internet connection, volume control and battery indicator on F11. how can I add this back. It does not show up in the add to panel menu and the applications do not give you back the default feel.
Someone on the forums had me uninstall pulseaudio to get pSX working, and now I don't have a volume control icon on the panel and when choosing to add stuff to the panel it isn't available.I re-installed pulseaudio through the package manager, but I have a feeling it didn't install everything that uninstalled with it.
I use alsa, and I don't have a volume control applet on my Gnome Panel. When I right click and select "add to panel", there is nothing that has to do with "sound", "audio" or "volume" in the list, and the "Indicator Applet" or "Indicator Applet Session" things have no volume controls, or properties that would let you enable any sort of volume control.
How can I get a volume control in Ubuntu, so I don't have to run aumix in a terminal or something? I've got the thing working now. But does anyone know why the new, fancy "Indicator Applet" volume control doesn't appear? The Gnome Volume Control Applet isn't as nicely featured, although it actually works.
I've been using Linux since Redhat 5, it's beyond me why these sorts of problems are still around. Someone should just put a damn "Volume Control" element in the list of things to add to the panel, even if it doesn't work, perhaps showing an error message.
I want to add the bthprops.cpl dll (The bluetooth control panel applet) to my wine install under Ubuntu 10.04 since it is required for Dolphin Emulator. [URL]
I copied the file from my windows install into the System32 folder in .wine and into the folder where the application I am trying to run is, but wine still fails to load it. Is there anything else I need to do to make the dll accessible for wine programs?
When selecting Extra in Visual Effects, the Nvidia drivers we installed to my computer. However the video playback now look weird till I open the Nvidia Control Panal when the colour become normal again. The first time of open the Nvidia I had to set the Hue to 0. How do get this loading to happen automatically.
In a previous version of UBUNTU I was able to enter a NVIDIA control panel to adjust my RGB settings. Now I'd like to change it slightly but there doesn't seem to be a NVIDIA control panel. There used to be two of them. After installing the video driver, If I tried to go into UBUNTU video settings I would get a console message stating I now need to use NVIDIA control panel and would automatically open it for me.
I was intending to do a clean install of 10.04.I have downloaded and burned desktop-i386.iso.After booting from CD and selecting install from the menu, I get the splash screen for a few minutes, then black screen, then purple ubuntu screen, then the error message "the installer has encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run etc.....".
I am thinking this may be related to ACPI, because when i 'Try Ubuntu without installing' it loads ok but I get a 'Crash Report' notification on the panel.
If again 'Try Ubuntu without installing' with F6 option "ACPI=Off" it loads up with no problem.
Another thing I noticed is that when I load with ACPI=OFF, my external drives automount, but if i dont turn ACPI off, and get the Crash report notification the external drives do not automount.
I recently loaded the latest version of Ubuntu Remix of my EEEPc 10000h.The problem I am have which I had had with some previous versions of Ubuntu is, I am prefer the classic desktop view. I also like to have control over what goes on my desktop panel. With the latest version I find that I cannot add to or delete from, neither can I move around any of the objects on the on the desktop panel.I there is some applet that has to be loaded or something in the software that I happen to be missing
I want to find a way to control compiz from my panel, basically have some custom launchers that would say rotate cube or bring up expo, i have been unable to find commands to do this, does anyone know if this is possible. even if it were a link to a bash script.
I accidentally removed the volume control from the panel (top right). I added it again (Indicator Applet), but now it's not on the far right with the time/date and wifi icons; it's in the middle part of the upper panel. How do I add applets to the far right of the upper panel?
How can I open control panel for Ati?In my old computar I have nvidia video card. To enter in control panel to my nvidia card, I had to type nvidia-settings.Now I have Ati video card, and I look for similar command to enter to control panel.
Trying to get things running using Fedora 14 on a GoDaddy Virtual Private Server. SSH'ing into box to do everything CL.First problem I'm trying to set my site in the httpd.conf file, I'm probably doing this wrong.Do I put domain.com in the www folder or the html folder? In httpd.conf I have server name as:Am I wrong with any of this so far?
I boot up my machine today and the Volume Control, which I use a lot, is missing from my panel!Anybody know how I get that back? I figured I could just right-click the panel and choose it from "Add to Panel".. but there is no Volume Control in there?
I'd switched to OpenSuse around ubuntu 8.04, for a number of reasons. I thought I'd give (k)ubuntu another try, cos so much software gets released that's *ubuntu compatible these days, almost as much as is windows compatible. So far it's not bad, but I've got one gripe, that was one of the things that drove me away from kubuntu before. All the advanced user graphical admin stuff is essentially hidden! In OpenSuse, you've got Yast2, which gives you absolutely all your admin stuff in one "control panel". Kubuntu used to have this, in kcontrol, but that's long since gone.
Is there something like Yast2 for kubuntu? As an example of something I could easily do in Yast2 and can't find an easily graphical way to do in kubuntu 10.04-I swapped out one of the hard drives in my system. Now every time I boot, the bootloader is looking for the now missing hard drive, and I have to tell it to skip it. I know I could manually edit the file, but I'd rather have a nice graphical config tool that lets me configure things. I can't seem to find such a thing anywhere in my kubuntu install tho.
Another example-there doesn't seem to be a gui partitioner installed. I can just use parted from the command line, but like I said, I prefer a graphical interface. I installed partitonmanager, but still. A graphical partitioner seems like a pretty crucial thing to have in an OS. Maybe I just missed it someplace, but that comes back to my main point, which is that all the power user graphical stuff seems to be missing, or really well hidden; and it would be nice if all that stuff was in a single place. So, any control panel sort of app, that includes the sort of stuff Yast2 has on OpenSuse?
I accidentally removed the volume control in my panel (upper panel, stock 10.10 desktop) and I can't get it back. It's not listed in the "Add to Panel" choices. What wizardry must I conjure to make it re-appear in my panel?
I'm using "Control Panel" for my settings and the icon for Bluetooth has changed, it looks like a sheet of paper with a no entry sign on it.It works but it's not the correct icon for the theme I'm using. Any ideas ?
Yesterday my computer started acting up. I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the update, but it happened shortly after, so i'm thinking that it's likely. My laptop has one of those touch-pads that controls the volume. Now it won't work. I tried going into preferences<sound to change the volume, but that doesn't even work. As much as I change the volume, it just stays where it's at.
Volume control on the panel won't work either. Also, another problem I'm experiencing is that when I go on ..... all of the videos play really fast. =/ not sure if it's ubuntu related, but this problem started at the same time as the other.
I accidentally deleted my volume control from my top panel and it's not an option when I go on to 'add to panel' How do I get it back? The sound is half way down and the only control I have is on my crappy speakers so when I turn them up more to compensate, I get the buzzy noise they have?
As the title states I have no Login panel in fedora 10. I went to change the theme of the login and discovered that it's not there as it has been in all previous versions
What would you recommend as the Base OS for a server to run a Web Hosting and a VPS kind of set up?I'm particularly big on CentOS and would like to know how users who have worked with it in data centers have fared with it in all aspects. Will be interested to know too whether taking BSD systems - FreeBSD or OpenBSD has any advantages and which of these to choose. On control panels - what is the best Open Source Control panels to manage:
i,Web hosting on *nix environment ii,VPS accounts
I have always come across ISPConfig on my searches but I don't know how it rates with the end users.Fill me on this please.Has anyone of you used/using other cost friendly commercial Control Panels which are robust and have full capability and come as alternatives to CPANEL?
On accident I removed the volume control from the top panel, and when I go back to the panel and click add panel there is no volume control there. Also I use uTorrent in win and the utorrent logo use to go into the panel, but now it loads in a separate window label wine system tray. I have searched around and have not found a fix for this.
I want to set up a hosting control panel solution on my Ubuntu LAMP server to make it easier to administer virtual hosts, users, databases, and so on. I'm completely disgusted with how drastically the installation seems to alter your system (I highly doubt it even works at all with Debian/Ubuntu).
I'd actually prefer something that was more than JUST a web hosting manager, but that gave me options for managing my server in general. What control panel option would you recommend?
Most importantly, I want something that's going to work well with the Apache config standards that are unique to Debian/Ubuntu and won't require a PhD to setup. I really like the default Apache/PHP stack in Ubuntu. Of course I'm particularly interested in Open Source solutions. The new OpenPanel project sounds really exciting, and I've heard lots of people talking about Webmin. Others I've heard good things about include VHCS, ispCP, and ISPConfig.
I upgraded from 9.10 to 10.04 and my volume control disappeared from the panel. I have reinstalled pulseaudio but it had not re-appeared. I can't find it in the Add Panel list nor can I find it in the Pulseaudio volume control application as an option.
The only volume control panel object I've been able to find in Ubuntu 10.04 is the Indicator Applet, and that has a bug that makes accessing the system through a remote VNC Viewer unusable. (Every time you hit the 'M' key, it activates the applet menu. You cannot type 'm' into a document or form without shutting off the applet.)
So, since I use VNC to remotely access the machine fairly regularly, it's either remove the applet every time I do, and add it back again when I'm running local, run without a volume control, or find another panel applet that provides for volume control. (At least until the bug-fixed version of the applet is available.)
The thing is I've not been able to find another volume control applet. Can anyone tell me where to find one?
