Ubuntu :: RTorrent, Move Complete Downloads To Custom Dir?
Apr 3, 2011I've set up rtorrent to move my complete downloads. But i want it to move it to a custom subdirectory according to the file.
For example.
Downloaded. i movie clip and rtorrent moves it to /media/store/eps/ but i want it to automatically move it to check the files name and put it in the right subdir.
If the file is called "Series-1" i want rtorrent to put it the subdir "Series-1" in /media/store/eps/ but if it's called "Series-2" i want rtorrent to move it to the subdir "Series-2"
All this is because my XBMC setup wont add the files to the library if i dont add as a "one-series-only"-folder.

1. I had no GUI
2. I could not log in regularly

Ubuntu :: Browsing The Filesystem (Nautilus) And Firefox Seems Realy Sluggish Compared To The Windows 7 Counterparts
Mar 22, 2011I can't quantify the behavior, but every time I run Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (32-bit), I get the impression that I'm using a much slower machine. All I have to compare it to is my Windows 7 64-bit install on the same machine (specs in signature), where almost everything is very snappy by comparison.
I don't have skipping audio or delayed video when watching DVDs in VLC Media Player, and Urban Terror (a 3D game) runs fine, but just general stuff like browsing the filesystem (Nautilus) and Firefox seems reaaaaallly sluggish compared to the Windows 7 counterparts.
What I'm doing at the time does not appear to affect the sluggishness. I have noticed the same impression of sloth both while copying large files, and while doing nothing in particular. That's not how it's supposed to work, is it? Does an Ubuntu install normally slow down over time? I have only been running 10.04 LTS since last October or so.
Fedora :: Yum Complete Transaction Won't Complete
Oct 15, 2009I am running Fedora 8. Each time I run a YUM command, I get the message that there are unfinished transactions, and to run yum-complete-transaction. Upon running yum-complete-transaction, it fails with this error. How can I remove this uncompleted transaction so I can finish the last one?

Aug 27, 2009Are there any .DEB downloads of Seamonkey out there? All I can find (at the site) are the source and the installer (as a gzip). I couldn't get it to install using the installer (even with the instructions in the readme), and I'd like to avoid compiling from source, because this is for a college course and I don't feel like I have time to worry about compiling.
(The course calls for an HTML editor, and Seamonkey is one of the suggested programs with an HTML editor.) Since I couldn't get the Linux version of Seamonkey to install from its installer (I think the error message was something about being unable to open a screen), the only solution I knew was to run Windows XP in Virtualbox and download/install/run the Windows version of Seamonkey from there.
General :: Get Compressed OS Downloads?
Jul 10, 2010i can download a 700mb.rar to get almost a gig worth of iso.... so i was wondering if anyone knows a site where they compress the iso to a rar or any other format so that i can save time downloading....

General :: High Load During Firefox Downloads
Nov 14, 2010During downloads, the top command shows the Firefox process at 100% CPU. Yesterday I tried to download an .iso image. After a few hours the Firefox window would not refresh nor would it respond to input. I tried the wget command. It used negligible CPU time and completed in 28 minutes.
This problem is easy to reproduce because it happens every time I download a file in Firefox. It also happens when I use a fresh profile to run Firefox without any extensions or plugins.
This is Firefox 3.6.12 on Fedora 14.

nuwan@nuwan-laptop:~/Downloads$ ./jdk-6u24-linux-i586.bin
It works fine on me. These commands create a folder jdk1.6.0_24 in Downloads directory.
My Question is this. If I want to install packages manually.What is the best way to do it. Where should I put artifacts which generates after executing above commands. Another question, If I use sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jdk where does these downloaded packages are installed. I mean location. I have been using Ubuntu 9.10

1) First of all, I'd like to know what wc -w is actually returning. The word count is less than what gedit is counting in Document Statistics, so obviously gedit is counting something (like newlines) that wc -w is not
2) Secondly, I was wondering if there was a way to grep x number of words. I'm looking for something like the -m option, but returning a certain number of words instead of lines. For example, to find the first 2000 words, do something like grep -someoption 2000 ".*" or using {1,2000}.
3) Finally, I'm trying to filter out headers and footers of a text file but having no luck. The text files are Project Gutenberg files, so they have standardized headers and footers. Here's an example: [URL]...
The header starts with "The Project Gutenberg EBook of" and ends with the line containing "START OF THIS PROJECT GUTENBERG EBOOK" The footers begin with: "End of the Project Gutenberg EBook of" My problem is, grep can find:

Mar 5, 2011When I try to access my personal folder Music by clicking Places>Music I get the Appearance Manager instead, actually if I click on Documents, Music, Pictures, Videos, or Downloads the only thing that appears is the Appearance Manager.
