General :: Conversion / Covert SWF Animations To Movie Files

Feb 2, 2011

Is there any Linux tool that will take a SWF file and output some kind of video format? Note that I don't want a tool which will re-encode an embedded FLV or MP4, I want to take a standard Flash movie and render it as a video.I found a reference to dump-gnash in the GNU Manual, but having installed the gnash package on Fedora I don't have that command.

General :: Covert Multiple Jpegs To One Pdf File In UBUNTU?

Mar 22, 2010

One of the most common qs i see in forums is >>> How to convert multiple jpg files to one one pdf file by one click . I have got 2 solutions that I consider solve this situation to the best ....

*1.* Install SCRIBUS from synaptic package manager . It can convert jpegs to pdf without any issues . F Spot Photo Manager can also be used .

*2.* This 2nd step I find much better ....
I have been using it myself for some time now ... and its flaw less ...

A) Install WINE using the terminal . For beginers .... Its a software that can run selected windows applications on a linux destro like ubuntu. Installing is very easy >>>> open synaptic manager and in quick search box type Wine. Once the wine files show in the search mark them for installation. For details on easy manual for wine installation check here .. [URL]

B) Now go to the page below .... Its a free software.

[URL]

Down load and save the software from the link given . Open the file using wine ( Right click on the file and choose the option open with wine.) The installer will run and the programme will be installed . And Viola ... Its ready .... Import ur jpg files and merge them all in to 1 pdf file .. Very Useful In Merging Comics together.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Conversion Of .aac Files To Flac Or Mp3?

Jun 6, 2011

I have some downloaded files of radio programme from BBC which are .aac. I have never come across this type before. Googled it so now I am a bit wiser and VLC seems to play them without problem but they are not accepted by my upnp client devices which are happier with flac or mp3. I would prefer flac but what is the preferred conversion software.

Ubuntu :: Alien Fails On Conversion Of Rpm Files?

Apr 16, 2010

Having downloaded alien for the first time, and attempted to use it to convert an rpm file to a deb file (specifically asymptote located at [URL]), instead I found that it failed to do so. I've searched on google for a long while, and found that while this appears to be a problem encountered by multiple people, but there are no workarounds posted anywhere. Here is the error message that I am getting:

Unpacking of 'asymptote-1.92-1.fc12.i686.rpm' failed at /usr/share/perl5/Alien/Package/Rpm.pm line 153.

I've tried running the following variants of commands and all fail with the same error:

sudo alien --to-deb --scripts --keep-version asymptote-1.92-1.fc12.i686.rpm
sudo alien -d asymptote-1.92-1.fc12.i686.rpm
sudo alien -k asymptote-1.92-1.fc12.i686.rpm

The errors reported by others are on a variety of packages, so it seems to me that it is an bug with alien itself and not with the package, but that is only a guess.

And related to this, Alien is version 8.69, perl 5.8.8 and ubuntu is 8.04.

Ubuntu :: Encoding Conversion On Multiple Files?

Jun 8, 2011

I'm trying to convert the encoding of multiple files in a directory and I try to do it as follows.

Code:
#/bin/bash
find . -type f -name *.txt -exec iconv -f GBK -t utf-8 "{}" -o "{}.utf8" ;
find . -type f -name *.utf8 -exec mv -f "{}" `echo "{}" | sed 's/.utf8//'` ;

The first command goes well by generating utf8 files from all txt files, but the second command fails with error message. Could someone enlighten me about the mistake in the command and share a workable solution?

Fedora :: Merge Three Movie Iso Files Into One?

Nov 20, 2010

I have a movie split into 3 iso image files, say, movie-1.iso,movie-2.iso, and movie-3.iso I did the following:

[ewn]# cd /mnt
[mnt]# mkdir disk1 disk2 disk3
[mnt]# mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop0 /media/Hitachi_SATA_2TB/iso_files/Movies/movie-1.iso /mnt/disk1
[mnt]# mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop1 /media/Hitachi_SATA_2TB/iso_files/Movies/movie-2.iso /mnt/disk2

[Code]....

the files for disk2, disk3 are exactly the same except disk2 has 2 .vob files instead of 3. Can I make this work by changing the names of some of these files before merging them into one directory and then running the mkisofs command to create a new single iso image? If so, what names do I give so that the movie plays correctly? If not, just how do you do this?

Ubuntu :: Dolphin Not Showing 'Previews' Of Movie Files?

Oct 18, 2010

Just wondering why Kubuntu 10.10 has a file manager that by default doesn't show the previews of video files? Or did I do something wrong during the install? Does extra software need to be installed to view video files as thumbnails in Dolphin? Or, am I doing something wrong and everyone else who uses Dolphin after installing Kubuntu gets thumbnail previews of their video files? See the attached picture showing a preview of a graphics file. Maybe I'm expecting too much because Nautilus (in Ubuntu), Thunar (in Xubuntu) and Windows Explorer (Win XP/Vista/7) all show thumbnail previews of video files by default.

OpenSUSE Multimedia :: VLC Shows Black Screen When Playing Movie Files?

Mar 12, 2011

With a default 11.4 (64bit) installation, and the one click installer for VLC at VideoLAN - VLC: Free streaming and multimedia solutions for all OS! - if you get a black screen when watching movie files there are 2 solutions.1)-> Go to Tools->Preferences->Video-> Remove the tick for "Accelerated video output (Overlay)"-> Try and play the movie again, you should now see output.2)Download proprietary drivers for your graphics card - I think theres a thread on the forum dedicated to that.

Example, NVIDIA 8600 using the default 11.4 open source drivers (nouveau?) shows a black screen when VLC uses "Accelerated video output".However, installing the proprietary NVIDIA drivers, VLC will successfully show the movie using "Accelerated video output".To clarify the default VLC installation with "Accelerated video output" ticked - works with proprietary NVIDIA drivers - and doesn't without.
