General :: Debugger For Shell Script - Get Rid Of Multiple Exit Command ?

My two doubts:
(i) In office i open many terminal windows when i start my day and in each terminal i keep on login as different users many times in a day to do some task, by the end of the day when i need to exit from all terminals in a safeway instead of directly closing it i need to execute exit command or CTRL+D many times to close a single terminal safely. Can anybody tell me a way to exit from each terminal in single go, is there any command to acheive this ? I wish if we had a command like exitall like in vi we have :qa command to close multiple files opened in single window. I hope friends you have got what i am asking for ?
(ii) I want a software for debugging shellscripts searched a lot but dint got it.

I write a script to read a file which is something like a pipe (or) queue , which shows the running status.In normal case, if i open this file with cat command, i have to use ctrl+c to exit this . What command shall i use to do the same inside a shell script ? I have tried ^C in my script , but it does not exit the process.

I have a shell script that creates a file and at the end I want to mail the contents of the file to myself or a group.
Here is what I have but I the script halts and I have to hit <ctrl-d> the n I receive an EOT and the mail is sent.
What I need:
- how to terminate the mail to where is terminates automatically
- can I cat the file contents instead of using -a

I have 2 shell scripts, script1.sh and script2.sh. I call script2.sh from within script1.sh ( by simple ./script2.sh command). Based on some condition, i use exit 0 to exit out of script2.sh. I was trying to find if i can exit out of script1.sh as well at once. below is the example
script1.sh
#!/bin/bash
echo "Before ..."
[code]....
When i execute below is the output
Before ...
There was problem file is empty
The Script will Exit. Please fix the issue and run again...
After ...
I am trying to exit out of script1.sh as well so that i dont print "After ..."

This is a very simple problem, but I'm scratching my head with others..
In composing a simple shell script in class, we can't seem to get the script to execute fully. script was formatted as follows.
#!/bin/bash
echo "good bye for now"
exit
did, Chmod 755 to make executable
type file name "bye"
runs but wont exit.....
it just echos the type"good bye for now
The instructor says it works for him at home....
But it wont work in class...
Is there a reason it wont "exit" the shell as commanded ?

something like this connect to server hostname and than execute command "ls" and than some command
ssh username"at"hostname ls "something"
without "something" this phrase connects to server and lists directory, I need something that after listing directory, terminates session.

Trying to count the number of oracle instances on HPUX 11.23 - using ksh. I have multiple instances running and I would like to have a count for how many processes for eachinstance.Example, run the 'ps -efu oracle' command and for each instance increment a counter. The script receives multiple files as parameters and it is supposed to count the number of lines in each of them and write that number in another file.

I am running an application called QuantiSNP [URL]. The binary file is "quantisnp2", called upon in the "run_quantisnp2.sh" supplied by the authors. I am only able to run the application for single file processing (e.g. 1 input file for 1 sample; I can't run the batch file processing because I don't have the necessary BeadStudio report files, which has different formatting for the input files).
The difficulty is that I have 300 samples (300 unique sample IDs) and 3 input files for each sample for a total of 900 runs of this application. I am wondering how would I be able to automate this process as a shell script instead of basically manually changing the sample ID and respective input files every time a run completes? I bolded the single file processing shell script command line options below that need to be changed for each sample/input single file processing run. The command line option "--sampleid" is for the name given to the processed output files corresponding to the sample of interest and there are 3 input files for each sample.

I have a Python script that I run which needs to execute under a special environment, so I would run the program like so from my working directory (~/project/src):
python manage.py shell
This opens up an interactive shell for me to start typing my own commands.I have another set of administrative activities that I would like to house in another directory (~/project/admin). The manage.py is really finicky about running from the working directory. So, to make this whole thing work, I made a script which starts off like so:
#!/usr/bin/python ../src/manage.py shell
There are a couple problems with this. The first is that it doesn't work:
/usr/bin/python: can't open file '"/../src/manage.py" shell': [Errno 2] No such file or directory
How do you specify multiple parameters to the interpreter?How do I change the working directory?

I tried to execute a shell command by M-! cmd RET but it did not work.M-! does not turn up in the microbuffer no matter how many times I press Alt+!.But if I go to Tools menu and select Shell Command... option then it writes M-! to the microbuffer and everything works fine.What is the problem here?

Reading a BASH script, I saw a find command preceded with a backslash. It was similar to this:

It's impossible to find documentation about this in man pages or on the internet, since 'backslash' are always evoked along with special characters. I also noticed that even though the command was surrounded with backquotes, the result was not affected to any variable. Maybe the backslash's presence is related with this?

I've installed epstopdf and can get it to work for one file at a time. But I have about 100 *.eps files which I want to convert to *.pdf using this command. How could I get linux to find all *.eps files in the directory and repeat the command for each converting them to *.pdf?At the moment the command that works for me is, $ epstopdf file.epsAnd works for one file
