Jan 1, 2011
While booting my Linux System (Red hat Enterprises edition 5.1) I am getting a messsage as below , the message is getting generated during file checking on first boot. Extended attribute block 18875430 has reference count 2 , should be 1. and after this system remains in the same sate.
my server is fedora-7 and it was working fine till yesterday yester I have power failu problem after we got problem. while booting following error coming Inode 3640928 has a bad extended atribute block
Just tried to test ea support by running setfattr on a test file and received an error message to the effect that this function is not supported. Is that corrects and if so how do I turn on ea support?
Recently installed Fedora 11 from CD on eeepc900HA. Update manager suggested 402 updates available. trying to update I get the following traceback error report:
Traceback (most recent call last):
On trying this process a second time after having selected specific packages I noticed that a prepare machine for upgrade package (not selected by me) seemed to be where the process stalled.
Trying a third time with attempt to upgrade some (random) python packages I get the same result via a system/admin/upgrade or download software .
I have one hard disk (call her HDA) that contains nothing but a single ext4 partition containing a backup of all my important data. Last night I did a clean install of Ubuntu 10.10 on my primary hard disk (call her HDB) and from there proceeded to upgrade directly to Ubuntu 11.04 upgrade. In 10.10, I was able to read HDA just fine. However after the upgrade, I can no longer mount this drive. When mounting from file browser:
Code:
Error mounting: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda,missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so The end of dmesg said the following:
Code:
dmesg | tail [ 82.130904] EXT4-fs (sda): bad geometry: block count 122096646 exceeds size of device (122096381 blocks)
my hard disk has a block count greater than the size of my device. I've done my background searching on this and tried a command line utility I've never heard of before:
Code:
# sudo e2fsck /dev/sda e2fsck 1.41.14 (22-Dec-2010) The filesystem size (according to the superblock) is 122096646 blocks The physical size of the device is 122096381 blocks
[code]....
this is as far as I've gotten. This drive holds over a decade's worth of work for me and is extremely valuable. I really didn't think that the Ubuntu upgrade process would mess with this drive, seeing as the Ubuntu install was contained on an entirely different drive. What is it that I need to do to restore my drive to working status?
create a tar file from a list? My script returns the error: AttributeError: 'list' object has no attribute 'startswith' I want to create a compressed tar file containing the directory /usr/lib and the files in the list assigned to variable b.
code:
import tarfile tar = tarfile.open("backup.gz", "w:gz")
What I want to do is from a file having block like
<event> 8 3 0.2685416E-02 2 -1 0 21 -1 0
[code]...
The first line after the "<event>" is its process-id, so I would like to have at the end a summary of how many "event" block I have for each type, ie how many
6 1 0.2685416E-02
or how many
7 2 0.2685416E-02
etc etc
I do not know in advance how many different-kind of block I will have, so it has to be a bit smart to scan the file, and make an new "summary" info for each unique type I was using something like
I have been having a lot of trouble lately with installing from CD/DVD. The DVD reader/writer on this laptop is new. Nevertheless, trying to install Ubuntu onto an exernal HD, I get 'input output error on sr0 logical block (a large number) After a long time the booting proceeds to a point, but I never get the actual installation started, and have to shut down manually.
The CD is fine, says the Ubuntu-checker. I just installed using my sons laptop, and there was no trouble. Question: does this indicate a motherboard failure? A memory block damaged? Do you know of a diagnostic tool I can use to check the reading of a CD/DVD?
Which command should I use programmatically (in ldap.h) to change only ONE of the attributes above? say i only want to change the userPassword from value secret -> notasecret
I have WD external hdd (80GB) formatted with fat32. I was using this hdd to transfer the data from computer A (LINUX, RH9) to computer B (Win7).
I was keep copying and deleting the data in the WD hdd during the data transfer because the amount to transfer is more than 300GB.
After doing this several times (and the WD drive was emptied), comp. A said the disk is full. I checked using 'df' and it was really full but 'ls -la' shows that there is no data in it.
I checked it in comp. B, and it showed empty. I tried to format in comp. A using 'mkdosfs -F 32 /dev/xxx# (block#)', but showed an error message like below.
'Warning: block count mismatch: found 78xxxxx but assuming 0'.
I found a similar situation in this forum metioning 'possible damaged linux kernel (not exactly same expression though)', so I re-installed linux in comp. A, but the problem was not solved.
1. why the disk info. is showed differently in linux and win7 2. why I cannot format it
I am not sure what is wrong I am dual booting with windows 7 I have partitioned correctly when I boot from the CD The first screen comes up where it says automatically boots in 10 seconds. when it finishes counting down it pauses and then goes straight to a black screen I also tried to load Ubuntu and the same thing happened. Not sure what to do?
I have the following trouble when I try to install Fedora 10 with a USB Flash Drive created by Fedora LiveUSB 3.6.3 [url]...ator-3.6.3.zip in a HP Mini-Note 2133 Notebook.
Everything looked ok during install, restarted the PC, get the booting count down and splash screen.

I am in Ubuntu 10.04 with its standard desktop environment. Exaile was working great. Now, suddenly it refuses to work. It brings up the splash/loading image and then dies. It works fine under a different user account. I completely restarted, completely uninstalled, completely reinstalled through the Ubuntu Software Center. No luck. I then tried to run it via a terminal.
Here was the output: wmeler@ubuntu1004:~$ exaile INFO : Loading Exaile 0.3.1.1... INFO : Loading settings... INFO : Setting up deferred idle manager function... INFO : Loading plugins... When the following little C program is compiled with gcc it does not get a compile error even though the function atof is undefined. If I change it to xatof then it goes get an "undefined reference" error. (I knowthat atof is a library function, and I know that it resides in stdlib.h But since I did not include stdlib.h I would think that it would give me an error). What am I missing here?
I am trying to install NOX which is a openflow controller and it needs Xerces-C++ this. I installed it successfully on the Debian. The output of the xerces after running the "make install" command is as follows which shows that is successfully installed on the machine.
I am using Wind River Linux- 2.6.27.18-WR3.0bg_standard. The problem is whenever I execute "reboot, ls, cd" and many other commands the OS prompts me an error- "end request: i/o error, dev sda, sector "(different sector each time)" and EXT3-fs error (device sda1):ext3_get_inode_loc:unable to read inode block- inode-4088001, block-4097027 I also executed "dmesg", it also showed similar errors. Has the disk gone bad or the kernel is corrupted?
I have big troubles with new mouse. It works properly in all cases except booting. It is really strange but if I restart the system (11.3), There is BIOS hdd detection, GRUB (I choose oS 11.3), after I can see about three text lines for short time and after only black screen. And system is halted.
If I disconnect the mouse, reset PC, choose in GRUB, I can see text lines, immediately there is a graphic screen, connect mouse and it works until next reboot.
I had found the following error messages one of my Linux server. the file system using for this partition is EFI GPT. Is this cause because of RAID controller incompatibility or Driver mismatch? PHP Code:
I'm trying to create a program from 2 files - main.cpp that contains the main function, and modules.c that contains the definitions of the functions that are called in main(). modules.c only contain function definitions, no main function.
My Makefile is as follows:
Code:
I have included "modules.h", which contains all the function declarations, in my main.cpp.
When I try to make using this Makefile, I get the error
Code:
If I switch the order of modules.o and main.o in my $(TARGET) line, then I get errors that say "undefined reference to" the functions I have defined in modules.c, in main.cpp.
