Oct 6, 2009I was lucky enough yesterday to get some help finally getting flashplayer installed
but now almost any page I try to load is crashing and I don't know why?

Fedora :: FC13 - Firefox Crashes With Java Sites / Sort It?
Jun 1, 2010I just installed FC13 and am having a problem with Java sites in Firefox. Everything is a fresh installation from the LiveCD (Gnome) and I'm dual booting with XP.
My laptop is an older Presario 2170us / 2G Celeron / 512 Ram / 40 G HDD.
If I go to the preferences of Firefox and disable Java, I don't have the issue but I can't open sites that are Java-intensive, such as AOL.
Once I re-inable Java and open Firefox, as soon as I get to AOL, I am dumped out of the Gnome GUI to the plain text list of startup items, then returned to the FC login screen and then I get back to the desktop.
When I open Firefox again, I get a page about the failure to open AOL... but I don't restore it...instead, I open a new site (such as this Forum), then close Firefox and reopen it.... but when I go to AOL, it happens all over.
As a recent (almost) convert from Ubuntu, I'd like to solve this. I used FC10 on my laptop but had too many SE-Linux issues (I couldn't do much without generating an error), so I went back to Ubuntu. I tried FC11 and FC12 but still had some problems. Now I'm trying FC13 and like what I'm seeing so far...except for what appears to be a Java issue in Firefox.

Sep 17, 2009Trying to open Firefox, and find that I cannot. It crashes. So, have opened Seamonkey, and am writing this from there. F11 updated to the latest on an ThinkPad R51. If I try my terminal, it opens provided I quickly open an empty tab before the home page loads. As soon as I try to connect to a page, or even preferences, Firefox crashes.

Fedora :: Firefox Crashes During Flash Play Back
Jun 3, 2010I'm within Firefox and start playing ..... movies Firefox crashes. Thats not the worst of it however; the process locks up the whole system and I have to reboot. I attempt the kill it with now luck. Killing the PPID doesn't help because it got to 1. I even looked a pstree to kill parent processes without any luck. I'm like WTF. Firefox crushes with the "ZL" in the line when running the ps command also. I'm going to uninstall Adobe flash and reinstall it to see if that helps at all. This is the only time I have every had this type of issue.

Jan 24, 2010I have two kinda weird problems that have been preventing me from wasting my time!
1. I can go to a flickr page and see the first picture fine. When I use the browse buttons and/or try and change to another picture, firefox crashes.
2. When viewing pictures in facebook (the only reason I use it is to share pictures with my far-off family who doesn't get to see my kids often) the pictures are very badly pixelated.
I'm using an Acer Aspire laptop (Intel 915 graphics, celeron processor, 1.5GB ram) with a completely up to date Fedora 12 installation. The weird part is, my wife's netbook, (1GB ram, Intel 945 graphics) with Fedora 12, displays everything fine. I'm cometely stumped how one machine is having such issues while another isn't. This problem existed in F10 when I used up until the F12 release so I'm presuming it is a graphics card problem (???) since the software and OS has changed.Does anyone know what might be going on or how I can check?

Jul 7, 2010I'm running F 13 and today's updates included updates to Xorg, so I logged out and back in to let them take effect. Ever since then, Firefox has been repeatedly crashing, especially on certain sites. I managed to get the crash reporting tool to report it to Bugzilla, but when I try to go back to add the bug report to this post, Firefox crashes, every single time. Has anybody else found this? If somebody can get to bugzilla.redhat.com and find the report (The email address I use there is joe@zeff.us if it helps.) Jan 9, 2010I recently upgraded (via Ubuntuzilla) to firefox 3.5.7 and now, every single time I close Firefox, the program seems to crash without quitting completely.
First, I receive an error saying that the program will not close and asks me if I want to Force Quite or Wait for it to close on its own. This has been happening ever since I upgraded to Karmic and if I just wait it usually quits fully after a couple seconds.
Now what happens is this: the window still closes, but if I try to reopen Firefox then I get this error stating that Firefox is already open and therefore cannot be opened again. The only way to get back into Firefox is to restart the entire computer. (Incidentally, this is the same problem that occurs whenever I try to Force Quit Firefox)
This now happens every single time I "close" Firefox.
Does anyone know the source of this error? Or a workaround?

Mar 12, 2010I can, on rare occasions, login to my gnome desktop with the sound theme enabled, but it usually crashes back to gdm while I'm still looking at the ubuntu logo. It does a resolution change, and I thought that might be my problem.
Then, my son noticed that, on those rare occasions we get into the desktop,the gnome-session crashes whenever a system sound plays.
I disabled the Ubuntu sound theme in failsafe mode, then could login to the normal gnome session.
This isn't the only machine that does this, and the other has the same model of motherboard, the ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA. code...

Mar 31, 2011i'm really irritated with this huge problem with my system. i'm using ubutnu10.10 on my dell inspiron 1525. the problem is, whenever i play any video on any browser(firefox and chromium), no matter if its your tube or vimeo or whatever. the system crashes as soon as video starts to play. the video plays for few seconds system starts to slow a bit and suddenly it crashed and shuts down.
also while using the totem videos sidebar i can searhc the video but cannot play it at all.
i get this error
"gstreamer encountered a general supporting library error"
i tried other forums too but.. no help till now. its like 2 months with both these problems

Aug 25, 2010I am running Ubuntu 10.04, up to date, 32 bits. I tried to open a huge (10.000 x 1.200 pixels approx) Wikipedia image, and everything crashed. Nor Firefox, Gnome or anything else responded from there. Not even ctrl+alt+del, ctrl+alt+backspace, alt+F2, etc. Only the mouse moves, but rather slowly.

I could NOT replicate the problem with Chromium. However, I am not sure if the issue is only firefox since it locks up everything in ubuntu.

Jul 24, 2011Recently my Firefox 5.0 started to crash randomly. This morning, it crashed twice within three minutes. I believe that it crashes mostly during loading something (such as a new tab), but it can also just crash when nothing is being done to it. I can be reading one page of text and it crashes. When it crashes, there is a "Submit a report" thing. When I click Restart Firefox, it doesn't. What I can think of is the use of Flash-aid and the addition of a 4GB bar of RAM. I re-executed Flash-aid because 1080p full-screen was choppy (still is). I don't think it is a Flash problem since with Gnash, Firefox also crashes. The RAM bar is a Lexar 4GB DDR3 SODIMM 1066-1333MHz. All other programs run correctly. I have re-installed Firefox, Firefox-branding and such in Synaptic. Still crashes.

Aug 29, 2010I've installed SuSE 64 11.3 (with updates) as a new installation 4 times because of video driver problems. On the 3rd installation Firefox crashes. I had no difficulties with 11.2 with the same hardware. I followed CAF's suggestion to another user to add it to the repo list and run a zypper install. No difference. I've added no new hardware. I then re-installed SuSE and made no changes to any setting or driver, but again, no Firefox continues to crash.

Video card: ATI HD 5870 running I believe at 1920x1200
1366 CPU 2.8 GHz
MB: Asus P6X58D Premium
Ram: 6 gb

Jul 19, 2010Upgraded from 11.2 to 11.3 without any issues. However the newer version of Firefox keeps crashing and bringing down 11.3! It's a complete system crash with absolutely no warning, although it looks like 11.3 is trying to send the TERM signal before the pc shuts down.I have other browsers for my work, and both Opera and SeaMonkey work perfectly.Konquerer also works perfectly.

May 21, 2010I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 and, when using Hulu, if I try and enter Fullscreen Mode, Firefox crashes to the desktop. Is this a known bug? Is there a fix for it? Any idea what could be causing it? I'm using fglrx for my integrated ATI card, by the way, but the standard open-source drivers made video choppy, and I had the same problem with Hulu.

Jan 9, 2011I think this case is pretty funny, as I have been using xubuntu for a couple of months - without a single crash or freeze. The first time it freezes is when I am looking through the GNU.org art gallery - [URL] - see link to the exact page in the next post. Not only firefox froze. The whole xfce environment + mouse + keyboard froze; with no other way out than making a hard reboot and starting firefox in safe-mode and tjecking off the tab with the gnu gallery art. The graphics on the screen was messed up when it crashed the second time. I'm wondering how firefox would be able to make the whole desktop environment and keyboard input freeze.. I have run the page, 'GNU o Lantern' again, which causes the freeze. The reason why I have posted this under Desktop Environments is that Firefox causes my Desktop Environment to freeze.
