Fedora :: ABRT Not Connecting To Bugzilla Nor The Remote Servers To Analyse Core Dumps

Jun 14, 2011

Has anyone noticed ABRT not being able to connect to Bugzilla or the remote Core Dump analysis server? Since my upgrade during the beta phase of F15 I have been unable to file bug reports from ABRT's traces, nor has it offered me the option to file bugs to bugzilla. What it does, however, is offer me to analyse the Core Dump and backtrace of the crash using either the remote server or locally with GDB. Needless to say I'm clueless in GDB, and it requires a LOT of debug symbols found in the corresponding debug packages. But trying to use the remote analysis server always results in a message of the server being busy and to try again later. IIRC the last time I was able to file a bug through ABRT was in 13, has anyone been able to do so in 15?

Fedora :: F12 ABRT And Bugzilla Can't Login?

Sep 17, 2010

First of all, I was unsure whether this should go in General Support or in Installation. The problem is occurring on my first boot of a freshly installed F12 system, but the immediate problem seems to be more concerned with Automatic Bug Reporting Tool and/or Bugzilla plugin.

That more immediate problem is: when I run the tool to report a crash, it complains that the Bugzilla Plugin is not properly configured. So I look at Edit->Plugins->Bugzilla just as it suggests, and I see a bugzilla URL that looks right, and blank Login and Password.

However, since I just did the F12 installation, which presumably is designed for any user, not a developer or member of the F12 project, there is no reason to assume that I even HAVE a login. So this is the first question: what Login and Password are they expecting here? Is there a special Login for the ABRT?

Server :: Debian Lenny - Enable Apache Core Dumps?

Jan 29, 2011

My Apache web server (respectively a child process) is crashing several times a day. I wanted to find the exact reason and activated the core dumps but even though the crashing-issues continue, the core dumps were never created. I have found several howto's which basically point to the same steps:

- set "ulimit -c unlimited"

- add "CoreDumpDirectory" directive into apache2.conf (Debian's httpd.conf)

Another info I've found is that /proc/sys/fs/suid_dumpable shouldn't be 0 - so on one howto it said to echo 2 into it, on another one to echo 1 to /proc/sys/fs/suid_dumpable - didn't work with neither of them.

Ubuntu Servers :: Connecting - Using A Remote X Session?

Nov 10, 2010

I've been working on this since last night (a few hours) but can't seem to find what I am looking for. I'll spare you the details of what I've tried already.

Could someone guide me through connecting to my Ubuntu server using a remote X session? The "kicker" is that I want to do this from a Knoppix LIVE CD. So whatever method I am given will have to be something that is common to most Linux distros.

I imagine I will need help with two important steps:

1) verifying that I have an xserver of some kind running on my server.

2) command line statement for starting the Xserver from the remote machine.

Ubuntu :: Connecting To Remote Servers By Only Typing SSH User@ip

Jun 4, 2010

I manage a few Linux servers and I need a fast way to connect to these servers instead of having to enter the root password every time.

Is there anyway to save the passwords/keys and connect to the servers by simply typing: SSH user@ip

Or even something easier without typing the server IP like I had Putty in Windows. I know I can still use Putty but I want to use a better SSH client, like GNOME Terminal.

Ubuntu Servers :: Connection Times Out When Connecting To Remote SSH?

Jan 24, 2011

When ever i run ssh -p <port> <user>@<remote IP>, i get a connection has timed out error. (i use the -p <port> part because i'm using a custom port). does anyone know what could be causing this? i know of a few *possible* problems, but i don't know how to test them all.

- I am on the same network as the server (I'm trying to test using remote IP to make sure it works before i go out an try it somewhere else)

-The router could be blocking it (i'm using linksys)

-IPtables may not be set up right (i think it is though. the only thing i've run is "sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport ssh -j ACCEPT". I have changed the port for the server since then. maybe i have to restart it or something for it to recognise the change? I know very little about IPtables though).

-maybe i have to change something in my client or server config files? (the only config file i've changed is the sshd_config file on the seerver, and that was to change the port to my custom port).

thats all i can think of for now. It may be none of those. I do have the sshd_config and port forwarding in my router set to the same port, so thats good.

Fedora :: Connecting To A Remote XDMCP?

Jun 25, 2009

on Debian/Ubuntu in the login form (i suppose it's "gdm") from the bottom right corner I can pick the option to login to a remote XDMPC desktop (that of course I enabled on the other side..) the network is checked for those open XDMCP service and finally, the login box appears and i can remotely login to a "graphic terminal".

How can I do the same in Fedora? I found some guide about Xnest, Xzephyr, but I was totally unable to find a way for doing this simple task.

Ubuntu Servers :: Bugzilla Ldap Authentication Integration?

Aug 9, 2010

so I got bugzilla up and running (finally) on an ubuntu server...

but in order to use the ldap integration, you need:

Mozilla::LDAP (aka PerLDAP) Perl module
Mozilla/Netscape LDAP SDK

neither of which exist in the repositories, or anywhere on the internet. the best I could find was a request to build a package from over a year ago...

I did find source that I can build... the Perl module builds and starts to begin the setup process -- but I get stuck at the point where it requires the SDK... which I cannot find anywhere in a plain downloadable form. the one I found seems incomplete:

Fedora :: When ABRT Has A Bug / Does It Turn Itself In?

Dec 7, 2010

So last night suddenly my computer started running really slow. Like it would take a couple of minutes for a window to open. I tried to start System Monitor to see what was going on, but couldn't get it to launch. At first I thought something had grabbed the CPU, but eventually I discovered that something was writing a massive amount to the hard disk. The intensive disk activity continued for about 20 minutes as I watched nervously. Just as the disk activity suddenly stopped ABRT popped up a message that disappeared to fast to read fully, but it said something about a file that was too large.

This morning I discovered that about 9 GB of my hard disk had been used up. Using "find -size +1G" I found an 8.6 GB file in /var/spool/abrt /ccpp-1291706342-2244/ called "coredump."I don't know what a coredump is or how to look inside the file to see what might have caused its creation. But I do know that ABRT has not said a word about the incident.

Fedora :: Get The Abrt Flashing Light At The Top Of The Screen?

I could just dump abrt since it's hardly a necessity, but I'm inclined not to as I think it's a good idea which could potentially be of great benefit to us all.

Fedora :: ABRT (and SMOLT) And Sensitive Data?

Jun 18, 2011

Question about the bug reporting system that I think is called ABRT Struggling with F15 and want to file a bug report, but the backtrace thingy says I should remove sensitive data first. Obviously a good idea, but the report is full of what to a non-programmer looks like gibberish - things like what I guess are hexadecimal numbers or memory addresses, none of which I understand. Can any of that incomprehensible stuff contain sensitive data, like encryption keys or anything someone would need to crack a machine? If I remove all of that then the bug report will be pretty sparse.

(Same question applies to SMOLT - machine profie report - as well) Or is "sensitive" just about the human readable data in the reports?

Does the installer need to read a label from /etc/fstab? I executed tune2fs -L / /dev/hda6 amd ,and added LABEL=/ for the corresponding entry for fstab. but the FEDORA CORE 10 is still giving the same problems for the installation process. Should I upgrade to an intermediate verson like Fedora Core 7 first?
