Debian Multimedia :: PCManFM - X-gvfs-show Not Working With Multiple Partitions

Aug 20, 2015

Entries from fstab:

Code: Select allUUID=04E2891117C6D1E8 /mnt/Movies auto user,nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show 0 0
UUID=22C19F6A209C7999 /mnt/Storage/ auto user,nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show 0 0
UUID=366C25EB7664050D /mnt/Recovery/ auto user,nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show 0 0
UUID=2983C8A82A5FEF6C /mnt/Down/ auto user,nosuid,nodev,nofail,x-gvfs-show 0 0

The only one that shows in PCMANFM is the Movies partition. All others listed here are missing.

I checked syslog and it looks like they all mount correctly.

This puzzles me since all of them have the same options set.

Trying to start it from terminal gives:

I filed a bug report on Debian and at Sourceforge. [url] [url]

Trying to get a backtrace using gdb doesn't give any useful info:

Debian Multimedia :: Pcmanfm Crashes More Frequently ?

Nov 9, 2010

Recently pcmanfm crashes more frequently then before. Each time it occurs, I cannot open another instance of it until I reboot my desktop/laptop. But this is not possible if I happen to be doing some long computational work. I have been using it with fluxbox for two years already, and previously I simply reopen another new window and get on with my work.

Debian Multimedia :: Can't Access Windows Partition From PCManFM

I can't access (read/write) to my Windows partition from PCManFM on LXDE. On Gnome it is usually on the left side and you have to click on it and it mounts. I want to do the same for PCManFM. When I installed Debian with "Standard system utilities" it did work like it did on Gnome.

Fedora :: GVFS Mountpoint /home/$USER/.gvfs ?

Jul 7, 2009

When I use nautilus open my home directory, everything is OK except that the file contents in the home directory are not presented. It seems that nautilus is still waiting and busy.

After that, I try to enter the user's home directory by the Terminal and succeed. I can use 'ls' to display the file in the home directory, But when I use 'ls -a' to print the hiden files, again the Terminal seem to be lock. the 'ls -a' is locked, I fail to 'kill' it.

At last, I find that everything that connects to the behavior which need to enter, delete or just dsplay the /home/$USER/.gvfs will fail and lock, and without any error message.

Debian :: Mount The Multiple Partitions Of A Pendrive - Flashcard?

Dec 27, 2009

I did this with :

Code:

I made two partitions as below

Code:

3. Partition Compact Flash

Make two partitions on CF (use linux fdisk or anything else that is able to make linux filesystem)

1. at least 8MB FAT

2. rest ext2 (recommended) or ext3 - at least 50MB

Copy vmlinuz, initrd, linexec and params.txt to FAT partition.
Uncompress rootfs.tar.bz2 to ext2 partition. (command details at ref. [1])

But :

fdisk -l says only one /dev/sdd1

not sdd1a
not sdd1a

How can I mount those 2 created partitions, since they are hidden under /dev/sdd1 ?

Is it a bug of the kernel?

Debian :: Setting Up A RAID Array With Multiple Partitions

May 23, 2011

I need to set up a RAID 1 array on Squeeze. I have 3 partitions: sda1 is root, sda5 is home, and sda6 is swap. (sda2 is the extended partition containing home and swap. This was a clean installation, so I don't know what happened to sda3 and sda4...)

All the information that I've been able to find recommends doing something like this:

mdadm --create --verbose /dev/md0 --level=mirror --raid-devices=2 /dev/sdb1 /dev/sdc1

Do I need to type a separate command for each partition, or is there a better way to do it? Also, should I use the UUID instead of the dev names?

Ubuntu Networking :: Domain Privs Working Via Gvfs But Not Regular Mount Command

Dec 14, 2010

I have a samba based domain controller which has a share with limited privileges for different usernames. When I log in the gvfs wizard in ubuntu everything is all good and I can access all the files I am supposed to be able to.

I suspect it has to do with the owner and group of the directory not being a user in the local machine. When mounted via gvfs the owner and group are the local user and group whereas when mounted via the mount command the user and group are foreign uids and gids.I had thought that gvfs would have relied on mount() system call under the bonnet but is this not the case as gvfs mounts don't appear in the list when you type 'mount'.Can this be solved in the standard smbfs mount or is gvfs simply a better implementation that does some magic behind the scenes to set the owner and groups in accordance with the smb protocol?

Debian :: PCMANFM Automount By Non-root User?

Feb 26, 2011

I'm trying to familiarize myself with LXDE to help a friend of mine and one thing I just cannot solve, despite many googles, is how to allow a non-root user to auto-mount drives in the left-hand pane of PCMANFM.Everything works just fine as long as I have the root passwd. Not a huge problem but very irritating none-the-less.

Debian :: Flash Drive With Windows Files Not Showing In PCManFM

Feb 20, 2015

So I made a text file on a windows machine and brought it home on a flashdrive. When I opened it in PCMan File manager it did not show, but executing ls in a terminal shows the text file just fine. It is the only one that appears to be missing in PCManfm. I've had a similar problem going the other direction (Linux to Windows, but with pdfs) many months ago. here is ls -l

Code: Select all/media/FE32-A2F6/Translation/Kevin$ ls -l
total 2344
-rw-r--r-- 1 feelactthink feelactthink 2374182 Feb 19 11:19 Artigo 3-SAGE V4.docx

-rw-r--r-- 1 feelactthink feelactthink    4891 Feb 20 17:58 Translation.txt

The file is Translation.txt. What is different about this file that it would do such a thing? It doesn't look at all different from above.

Do I disable NetworkManager completely or do I try to make it recognize that I am connected to the Internet? If the latter, then how should I go about? (Please let me know which files I need to show you, because I know I've messed around with a couple).

I just upgraded from Karmic to Lucid and have the following problems:

(1) My unmounted partitions used to be visible in "Places" on the left of Nautilus, so I could mount them when needed, but now they are not there. Also,they do not show in "Computer" view
(2) When I open Disk Utility from System/Administration, there is nothing at all showing - it takes quite a while to start up, but when finally the window opens, no devices or partitions are shown.

How can I get the file manager option to show everytime I insert a dvd-rom? I tried to,create a new option in system setting but man is that stuff confusing.

i,want to be able to browse a dvd-rom movie/video using dolphin when i insert one. I want open with file manager to be one of the choices. I think file manager is the choice.

I am using direct mounts because I like being able to cd to the directory and use tab completion..versus indirect mounts where you can not do that since the directories are virtual.But, why does the /proc/mounts show these directories mounted(I have not cd to them)? Are they technically mounted? The reason why I use automount is because if I ever have power failures at least not all filesystems that are not being used will be unmounted and not corrupted.

I have been setting up my laptop as a dual boot with Win7 (yuckkk!) and Ubunutu 11.04. My HP Pavilion dm4 came with 4 primary partitions used by Windows! (Again, yuckkk!) I got rid of Windows_recover partition (I don't remember the exact name) converted that primary partition to an extended partition and then installed Ubuntu in virtual partitions. All that works.What I don't like is that the partition HP_TOOLS shows up in Nautilus, and if you click on it, it self-mounts and makes that partition accessible.
