Debian Multimedia :: Iceweasel: Prevent "unable To Connect" Frames From Showing?
Is it possible to prevent "unable to connect" messages from appearing instead of blocked web-content? I am using a huge hosts file to block unwanted web content from appearing. The attachment illustrates what I am referring to.

Debian :: Disable Ipv6 Protocol - Could Not Connect To Any Websites With Iceweasel Or Midori
When I go out of town I normally take my Acer Netbook to travel light. I ran into a problem over the weekend which I have seen before and couldn't find the cause. I used the wifi at the house I was staying at and could connect to the router via Wicd and ping outside IP addresses, however, I could not connect to any websites with Iceweasel or Midori. I receive the generic error that the browser is unable to connect. Now that I am back at my house I cannot repeat the problem, but have found a couple threads about disabling ipv6 protocol. The symptoms sound like a browser setting, but I couldn't find any settings that looked unusual.

Debian Multimedia :: Iceweasel And KDE Leave Crashes X
I installed Squeeze on an eeepc 900.Everything seems to work well, except for one thing: iceweasel, when drawing certain windows, likes to crash the entire KDE session. This is 100% replicable simply by right-clicking on a bookmark put on the bookmarks menu toolbar, and trying to go to "properites" on that item. It only does this, however, on my wife's eeepc 900, it does not happen on my 900A (different gpu and cpu though...). the two systems have the same packages installed. The most frustrating thing is that there is no error output whatsoever. I have looked through all the logs in /var/log, and I couldn't find anything. I have run iceweasel from the command line and redirected its output to a file, but the whole system hard-locked, and when I rebooted, there was no log file. I have started X using "startx" instead of using kdm, and I cannot see any output to the VT that kicked it off because the system hard-locks. As far as I can see, it only happens in iceweasel. If I disable compositing, it becomes stable again -- but I don't want to have to do this, as it interferes with features she is accustomed to.Oh yes, I should also add that this netbook worked fine under eeebuntu and compiz -- never an issue.

Debian Multimedia :: Iceweasel Bookmarks Disappeared?
I noticed that the "Bookmarks" menu in Iceweasel was totally empty. I quit IW and started it again, and the problem persisted. I disabled all my addons, restarted again, and they were still gone. I tried to restore them (the backup copies are stored as JSON files in ~/.mozilla) from Bookmarks -> Organize -> Import -> Restore, but I got "unable to process the backup file" for each of the backups.

Debian Multimedia :: Modify The Headers For Iceweasel?
There are some sites who are for example U.S.-only...Using Windows and Firefox, it often helped to just install Modify Headers, set it up correctly and you're done (it changes your ip-address you show to a website) Using a proxy really slows your connection down, but the app didn't.Is there an app for Iceweasel pretty the same, or at least one being able to do the same?

Debian Multimedia :: Minor Scrolling With Iceweasel-4
I've had some minor scrolling issues with iceweasel-4 which mostly did not draw my attention until yesterday when scrolling this page : [URK]. Scrolling was choppy..... [Code]... Some others things I've noticed : running iceweasel-4 in virtualbox ( minimal gnome installation Sid ) , running iceweasel-4 in virtualbox ( minimal KDE installation Squeeze with gnome-themes added to be sure ) did not have these scrolling issues.....( so is nvidia to be blamed ? ) I was about to remove the nvidia driver ( from nvidia.com ) and replace it with nvidia driver from Debian when I tried just one more step: Added deb [URL] unstable main to sources.list and upgraded libcairo2 from version 1.10.2-1.1~bpo60+1 ( squeeze-backports ) to version 1.10.2-6.1 [Code]...

Debian Multimedia :: God-awful Fonts In Iceweasel
My iceweasel version iceweasel: Here are two screenshot of a Wikipedia page (modified via readability). My serif font is Liberation Serif. Here is the same font in Open Office Writer And here it is in KWrite To me, the last two look all right-- at least all the lower case glyphs are the same height. So why does the font look so terrible in iceweasel?

Debian Multimedia :: Text Invisible On Epiphany And Iceweasel?
I can't find a solution for not seeing any texts on html5 web pages. I haven't found any other report about such an odd behaviour on the web so far. Even on the new W3C web page (see the screenshot below for details) I can't see any texts. They are just invisible. I can mark and copy them, but there is nothing to see on Iceweasel 3.0.6 and Epiphany 2.22.3. Because both browsers behave the same way I guess it's not a browser issue, but something more basic. My Debian Lenny stable should be unblemished because I've never used anything else than the main sources. I can't believe, that the W3C has switched to a new standard without propper fallback-support for older browser versions...

Debian Multimedia :: Iceweasel And Icons Stored In Bookmarks?
I don't find the little icons and tiny previews that iceweasel seems to make by grabbing an icon from a webpage at all helpful, and consider them a security risk.I have been using Debian Lenny for some time and have tried hard to foil the chrome engine (?) xul_runner (?) from sticking these icons in various places. But it still manages to stick them in, of all places, my bookmark file. How do I prevent that?

Debian Multimedia :: Web Console Doesn't Work In Iceweasel 6
Just as the title says: I installed iceweasel 6 in debian squeeze (via mozilla.debian.net) and while errors and requests are captured in the web console, I simply cannot use it to evaluate arbitrary javascript I type in it. Does anyone have this problem as well? It's been like this since v5 as well. I already tried purging and reinstalling, as well as running with another profile.

Debian Multimedia :: Iceweasel On Install Won't Follow Some Hyperlinks
I'm having some major issues with "Iceweasel" on Debian 6.0.1 (squeeze). I've done some extensive google searching but can't really find anything on this issue. Basically, Iceweasel simply won't follow some links. It seems to spin for a second and then remain on the same page. I haven't been able to find any correlation between the type/style of links and whether or not the browser will work correctly or not when the link is clicked. Also, sometimes if I have multiple tabs open, I'll open gmail in a new tab and it will do nothing. If I exit the app and restart with one new tab, it will correctly bring up gmail (does this with other sites too gmail is just an example). I actually use Chrome for most stuff now but need FF/Iceweasel for PHP debugging (a Zend Studio plugin not available in Chrome). how to get more debug info form Iceweasel I've thought about just installing Firefox but seems I have to do it manually and I'm not convinced that it would make a difference as supposedly the code is the same (?). I may just try it anyway as I'm out of ideas. Here's the stats: peter@sendai[vanilla]$ cat /proc/version Linux version 2.6.32-5-amd64 (Debian 2.6.32-31) (ben@decadent.org.uk) (gcc version 4.3.5 (Debian 4.3.5-4) ) #1 SMP Mon Mar 7 21:35:22 UTC 2011 Iceweasel 3.5.16 (like Firefox 3.5.16)

Debian Multimedia :: Iceweasel (3.5.13) Is Slow In Some Java Requiring Websites
I ve noticed that iceweasel (3.5.13) is slow in some java requiring websites: showcase: [URL] then add in the field location more than two locations (3=max i think). notice the slughiness if not the IW rash. Debian Multimedia :: Weird Content Rendering With Iceweasel - Can't Click On Any Of The Links
Alright ... recently switched from Ubuntu with FF 4.0 to Debian with Iceweasel which I had to upgrade to 4.0 since I really liked the way it worked on Ubu 10.10 ... but I'm having some really strange rendering issues. Flash is not a problem at all, works fine on all flash sites that I've checked out. Some sites though, including this Debian forum, do not show everything in the Iceweasel browser window. For example, sometimes I'll be browsing on a page with huge chunks of white, clearly indicating that "something" should be in those spaces. When I look at those same pages with Chrome or Opera, everything is filled the way it should be ... all content is displaying properly. On some sites, like this forum, the rendering is even worse because not only do some items not show up, but in addition most of the links don't work at all. For example, if I use Iceweasel 4.0 to look at the board index of this forum, I can't click on any of the links, not the links in the main sections anyway. If I open up Chrome (that's what I'm using to write this) or Opera, the problem is gone. What the heck is going on, does anyone know? Is this an Iceweasel bug? Am I missing some package update? I'd hate to have to switch my preferred browser just because this weirdness is going on. At first I thought it was a fluke, specific to a site or two only, but at this point I've seen these rendering issues on about 10 sites ...

Debian Multimedia :: Iceweasel Page Rendering - Not Displaying Portions Of Pages Properly ?
I guess this is a part deux, since I already posted one rendering issue which was eventually resolved ... having to do with the themes of this Debian Forum. Well, I don't know if this is related to that, but yesterday I noticed on another site that my Iceweasel 4.01 is not displaying portions of pages properly. See attached images. Both Chrome & Opera display that page correctly, I've included a screenshot of the same page with Chrome. I have JAVA installed and everything works perfectly fine accross the board on all browsers, except for this "once in a while" issue with Iceweasel. I've noticed this "missing content oddity" on three sites so far (out of 50 or more). No problem with eBay, craigslist, paypal, and other major players. Open the images with a new tab, then compare both images side by side for best results. Iceweasel: [url] Chrome: [url]

Debian Multimedia :: "firefox-bin" Still Running After Closing Iceweasel
my brand new Squeeze system, I cannot stop the Iceweasel. It just keeps going and going and going ... Specifically, after closing the browser a firefox-bin or xulrunner-stub process (never both) keeps running and consumes an entire CPU (according to top). To make matters worse, Mozilla does not accept responsibility for the problem. Instead it blames extensions, Java applets, plugins, etc.. They blame everyone but themselves. To see that the bug is in "Firefox/Iceweasel," run: cd $HOME mv .mozilla/ .mozilla-bkp/ /usr/lib/iceweasel/firefox-bin Then shut the browser. The process must be terminated manually. kill $(ps -A | grep -E "xulrunner-stub|firefox-bin" | awk '{print $1}')
