The problem is next: when I try to install kde 5 into my debian wheezy system (now have kde4), I add 'kubuntu-ppa/next' repo and then try to make 'apt-get update' from 'su'. But I catch next message:

Debian Multimedia :: KDE5 Not Saving Session In Testing

Mar 15, 2016

I did an installation of amd64 testing with KDE 5 three days ago, and I noticed that my session is not restored upon login. I have this option checked at my kde system setting.

A quick search led me the next bug+patch: [URL] ....

(See also [URL] ....)

I did notice that files in ~/.config/session/ are created, but apparently not read upon login.

I tried to send a reply to the relevant bug 796062 but the email bounced back.

Having problem with latest testing and kde5 session restore?

Debian Configuration :: Error In Opera Update From Repository

Jul 2, 2010

I've got Opera for Linux on my Debian Lenny system, installed by adding their repository to my APT config, and it works great. Just recently there was an update. When I downloaded it, it could not install because the signature could not be verified.

W: GPG error: [url] lenny Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY F9A2F76A9D1A0061

Why would that happen now when I already had the repository correctly setup in my apt files? I tried re-installing the key and that didn't change anything. Is there a problem with a public key server somewhere?

When I change the update repository to a specific one, I chose a german one, there is still that checksum error. If I say yast I want to still use the repository with the error, there comes another checksum error, if i say i dont care about that one either, it says

Debian Multimedia :: Gnome Update Error - Forced To Shut Down Via Terminal

May 3, 2015

I have recently updated my GNOME installation from 3.x to 3.14. Suddenly, there are many glitches. The power buttons on the power menu does nothing, I am forced to shut down via the terminal, everything goes black every now and again, and there is a weird colour pattern behind some icons when I hover over them. But most importantly, the icons and text do not show up on the "Activities -> Show Applications -> All" menu. They still there, as you can see the opening animation before they disappear, and I can click on them, but you just can't see them. The "Frequent" menu works fine. Here is a YouTube video I have made to explain my problem.

[URL] ...

I did change the icons, but this was after these problems started happening, and so it should be un-related.

I tried rpm --rebuilddb, which didn't do any good and um clean all which also did no good. I did manage to do the updates with yum updates But I don't want to have to use yum at the command line all the time to do updates.

Fedora Installation :: Update 15 - Transaction Error - Check That The Correct Key Urls Are Configured For This Repository

Check that the correct key urls are configured for this repository.
This is far too involved for a linux newbie, I think my only option is to reformat and reinstall. This is so frustrating, there are 250 MB of updates available that I can't access.

Debian Multimedia :: KDE 4.4.x Not In Repository?

Apr 16, 2010

So I recently moved from Ubuntu 10.04 to Debian (I'm tired of Ubuntu assuming everything I want). As much as I like how Debian doesn't result in me uninstalling several hundred MB of packages, it also doesn't have the latest stuff.I'm using sid AND experimental repositories and neither of them let me use the later KDEs. I want the new KDE, its significantly better but I have no idea how to get it with Debian's repos. Also, how am I supposed to install the nvidia drivers in synaptic? I had to download them from nvidia's website and log out into a command line. To make matters more confusing, it asked for gcc 4.4 but I do have that (as well as all other c++ 4.4 related packages). I can ignore the gcc warning and it installs just fine anyway. I can deal with installing the drivers from the command line but its REALLY annoying when you have to do that after every kernel update, so i'd rather have the package manager do it for me.I am so far very unimpressed with the way Debian is maintained. Its missing many packages ubuntu came with too. I have other problems as well but I've managed to fix them or I'll work on them more later.
