Can someone tell me which of the parameters in pdftk is responsible for converting my PDF (which is a bunch of images "staped" together) into a pdf with text that I can ctrl+f? The manual isn't clear enough for me.

But recently, after I install Suse11.3 on my Dell desktop (64 bits), everything works fine except the pdftk. When I am trying to install it from Yast, it warns:nothing provides pdftk needed by pdftk-qgui-0.1.9.2-0.pm.1.1.x86_86, and gives me two conflict resolutions: 1. do not install it2. break pdftk-qgui by ignoring some of its dependencies.Obviously, none of them are the correct answer .
View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is a question for those that use pdftk. I've been using it for about the last year or so to combine manipulate PDFs and it is awesome. Until today, mostly what I've been using it for has been for less than five files. Today I have been working on a manual at work which consists of about 100 separate files with a total page count of 167. The pages are a mix of 8.5x11(inch) and 11x17(inch). The pages needed to be in a specific order, the only way I could think of to do this instead doing this all in the CLI, I created a text file which contained a list or sequence of the files. To make it easier for me to read and group, I first put each file on a separate line.

I am trying to write a script to edit text files formatted like this:

There are never line breaks or spaces in the actual files.
I want to delete all instances of the character "@" and everything between it and the next "," (including that comma) or the next ")" (including that close parentheses) whichever comes first. My desired output file would be like this:

I figured out how to do this using sed for either "," or ")" but both looking for whichever comes first.
I have 2 GB of html files and i need to convert all of them at once to text files. Is there any way that I can do it. Converting each of them manually is really a pain and I want to convert all of them with a single command to text files.

I have come to rely on pdftk, which has disappeared in opensuse 11.2I tried just cloning the package from 11.1 into factory & 11.2 in OBS, which didn't work. I tried tracking that down and got bogged down in a maze of dependancies and ultimately some incompatibility with the latest g++ or gcj which I failed to figure out.I see the errors in the build log, I just don't see what's wrong with the code, especially since it builds fine on 11.1. It looks like maybe it was always technically incorrect code, but only now gcj or g++ refuses to accept it. But I can't tell what's actually wrong with it. And the home site hasn't been updated in 3 years so no luck there.Has anyone managed to build pdftk on 11.2 ?Or, is there some other package that can do what pdftk does ? (non-interactive pdf manipulation)I see debian and ubuntu still have it in their latest versions. So next I'm going to try just importing a .deb with alien or maybe try porting their patch set over to my OBS package.

As far as I can recall (and as mentioned on different sites) all I have to do is edit /etc/cron.d/apt-mirror
I tried adding the following lines, but nothing works

I first started using Ubuntu and I liked the sudo facility because I didn't need to remember two passwords, so when I installed Debian I wrote the same password for the limited and the root account. Is this very bad for security? I mean can a program started from my regular account immediately become root or something?
