Debian :: Conky Making DNS Request Infinite Loops

For some reason my Conky is making my machine do infinite DNS requests to the last host I'm connected with. For example, if I visit forums.debian.net it'll start the infinite DNS request to this host. If I close the navigator it stops. If I try to connect to irc.freenode.net it starts the DNS requests. If I disconnect it stops. Why is it happening?

This conkyrc is for 4 core modern intel cpus, i believe, please check code. any correctional errors appreciated as well as my personal feature request. its also only suited for 1680x1050 or greater.
Attached are the .conkyrc and weather/cpu optimization files for intel i7 processors for a correct average. i hope it was written correctly. if anyone can improve upon this conkyrc i would appreciate it. just followup. i have a personal feature request i was hoping someone could do for me. i would like to get rid of the weather section and include a Banshee -------------

theoretically that should be an infinite loop but it in fact does terminate eventually echoing out 'FIRE!'
just wondering if even though in theory this should be an infinite loop (a number repetedly divided by 2 should never reach 0 thus the conditions of the loop should never be satisfied, hence infinite loop) perhaps in practice limitations of the variable types prevent this?

Said that all the config i find put all the info in one place of the screen, in this example on the right side:

or like conky colors where you can put in either side, or other complex examples that use folders with images..that at least i need one day to study all the variables it has...
What i want is something simple, in my black background i dont want images and effects, only white simple text.
My problem is: i want for instance my specs above, my log info in the middle, my music info bellow (above my clock) and in conky config i'm hitting my head in the wall....
For instance if i use my facebook script to appear in the midle how the hell can i put my music info bellow without ruined the facebook in the midle...do i need 2 conky configs?

I think i came across a bug in X server in squeeze. I would report it to the bug tracking system in debian packages but the think is I am not entierly sure about it.When i start X (whether it is through startx or service gdm start or auto startup through init when the pc boots) the computer PC seems to lock up.The screen goes black right after X initializes and before anything is show in the screen and if i wait a about 10 minutes the monitor either goes in standby or out of range. PC seems unresponsive to both keyboard commands and mouse but my LCD screen in my G15shows the time skips 1 sec every 2 sec (from 19:22:22 goes straight to 19:22:24).
I have a custom 2.6.33 kernel which i build but it happens with both 2.6.32-trunk and 2.6.32-3 offical kernels from the squeeze repository so i dont think that this is the problem.My PC is a P4 3.75Ghz with 2Gb RAM and an NVidia 6800GT with the binary drivers from nvidia. I have tried diffrent versions from my grapgics drivers (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.14.25-pkg1.run & NVIDIA-Linux-x86-195.36.15-pkg1.run) with no change in the behaviouThis is the syslog from the time my pc started and then "stuck". I left it for some time before i hard reset it

I'm using debian etch and I've installed some automatic updates, after that some programs weren't running. So I restarted the pc. Now that the computer boot up normally but when it reaches the login screen it just emit a sound in the pc's speaker,he login screen flickers and is showed another login screen again and again and again (it's automatic). I can logon using the option single-user mode in the grub options, any idead on how can I fix it?

I need to renew my SSL cert for my Mahara site and I follow the instructions below. But after I finish answering all the questions for the csr, I'm supposed to copy a portion of the cert into a web form. However I can't seem to find the server.csr so I can do this. Were this file goes?
Here is a step-by-step description:
Make sure OpenSSL is installed and in your PATH.
Create a RSA private key for your Apache server (will be Triple-DES encrypted and PEM formatted):
$ openssl genrsa -des3 -out server.key 1024
Please backup this server.key file and the pass-phrase you entered in a secure location. You can see the details of this RSA private key by using the command:
$ openssl rsa -noout -text -in server.key
If necessary, you can also create a decrypted PEM version (not recommended) of this RSA private key with:
$ openssl rsa -in server.key -out server.key.unsecure
Create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) with the server RSA private key (output will be PEM formatted):
$ openssl req -new -key server.key -out server.csr
Make sure you enter the FQDN ("Fully Qualified Domain Name") of the server when OpenSSL prompts you for the "CommonName", i.e. when you generate a CSR for a website which will be later accessed via https://www.foo.dom/, enter "www.foo.dom" here. You can see the details of this CSR by using:

Daily updated Debian Testing Because Debian is the only operating system on this laptop and I keep at least two working kernels, I would like to hide Grub2's menu unless I press a key (like one could do with Grub). I can hide the menu if the line GRUB_TIMEOUT=0 is in /etc/default/grub but it doesn't appear after pressing SHIFT, which is a threat if the system cannot boot the selected kernel. Right now, the timeout is set to one second. I've read Grub2's documentation and [URL] and tried various combinations, but I haven't been able to make this work.

I recently installed two PC with debian lenny (kernel 2.6.26). One is called serveur-debian1 and the second one serveur-debian2. I have installed gnome,samba, mysql5, apache2, php5, and Virtualbox,bridge-tools on them. On serveur-debian2, i installed an other virtual debian lenny with apache2,mysql5,php5,nagios and centreon on it to view my network. I remember having installed a soft to access nntp on serveur-debian2 in order to test nagios.
Since a few days, i have problem to access to my servers. rom my windows 7 client, i try to ping serveur-debian1. Response is OK but not for all resquets Always from the same computer, i try to ping serveur-debian2. Response is OK but not for all again.
When i launch a ping on serveur-debian1 and serveur debian2 at the same time i have:
ping 1 to 10: serveur-debian1: response OK
serveur-debian2: no response
ping 11to 14: serveur-debian1: no response
serveur-debian2: response OK
ping 15 to 25: serveur-debian1: respone OK
serveur-debian2: @ip serveur-debian1 network unreachable (there's no error, it shows me the ip of serveur-debian1)
If i switch on the debian virtual server on the serveur-debian2, and i ping it at the same time, the response is OK for all resquests. The problem is very strange. I can't have a correct connection and when i launch a request from a software which access the mysql server, the requests failed ...

I want to put some info on my all black background, for instance i do a lot of vpn connections, so it would be cool that i do startx and a xterm console was on the background (without the window ofcourse) with the tail -f /var/log/messages or my dropbox status and so on Like tilling....but on background...i hate wallpapers

hey guys, im doing a simple search program and i came up with a problem. What i am trying to achieve is, if the search is false(means the book does exist) , the program will then ask the user to input the information again(title and author) and do a search again until there is no such book and then display a message saying he can input a new book in.i tried using a until loop, but it does not seem to work. some guidance on how the statement should be and where should it be placed?

This is a mature Lucid installation on an desktop machine. After having to hard reset it after a lockup due to a misbehaving USB peripheral, startup and shutdown started behaving oddly (e.g. shutdown going to a login screen).
Now it is in a state where - on start up - after logging in successfully, the screen goes dark for a moment and then loops back to the login screen.
Have tried:
- booting in recovery mode,
- running dpkg repair (just an update of sudo)
- running in failsafeX - where problem is still present (so I assume the nvidia video drivers not to blame here)
Maybe relevant that:
- only one user account so cannot try logging in as another user,
- home folder is encrypted.
- hard disk has plenty of spare space.

Basically the issue is that after I installed ubuntu 10.04 (on the same drive as Windows 7) I can no longer boot windows 7 from grub. When I select windows 7 in the grub boot menu it returns me to the boot menu.I looked through other posts who had similar problems, however, I wanted to post my own thread as I was unsure how to fix the problem based on information from other threads.

Using K3b 1.91.0 on Lucid in order to burn multitrack Video CDs.These burned fine before, and I made 5 working ones. Now having weird playback problem of burned VCDs first track looping back to the beginning instead of automatically advancing to later tracks. Same problem occurs on a variety of players including standalone DVD player. I can manually access the later tracks, but the later tracks don't continue automatically from track one.
The funny thing is that I'm using exactly the same mpeg VCD files that worked successfully before. I've got a feeling that the problem is some setting in K3b that I might have unintentionally changed, or else some nuance to how I'm adding the files to the project. I notice that when I add tracks to the project, a funny line always appears under a file name. Could that have anything to do with this problem? Also, would choosing "DAO" rather than "Auto" fix the problem? I'm tired of wasting the nice archival CD-Rs I bought!

I am trying to execute a .c program of mine through bash... Problem is it takes two arguments (files) and am trying to use "for" loops to do it. I use the for loops to take the files (same number in both directories) and put them into arrays. I use the command "ls -1" in the "for loop" so they are sorted in such a way that they are in the same time and date order upon when the program is executed.
Here is the code:

HOWEVER, $a in this case does not change with the loop. Thus, the program doesn't work. I then tried:

done
But that produces the error: syntax error near unexpected token `for'. As a "do" statement must come after the for loop call.
