When installing Rstudio from: [URL] .... in Debian stretch I get the following:

seems like there's only libgstreamer1.0-0 available in stretch. In sid it's included though: [URL] ....
For the time being I installed the sid versions but wonder what's a proper solution.

I have 2 questions, First when I try installing some apps from the software manager I get :

Secondly for some of the applications they require different sources (universe, main etc.) but when I try installing these sources it tells me to put in the maverick meerkat cd rom, I dl the virtual cd and I have the .iso can I use that for the source? Is there a virtual drive program I can use?
After a re-install, I tried adding Ubuntu-Tweak, only to have this message come up, in red, in the dialog box: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: gconf2 (>= 2.28.1-2)

I would like to install wxCam in Ubuntu 10.04 and I have downloaded the file wxcam_1.0.7_i386.deb
Then I have installed with Synaptic Package Manager the following packages:

Next step is double click on wxcam_1.0.7_i386.deb

Synaptic Package Manager shows me that the latest version is 2.8.10.1-oubuntu1.2. So what means (>=2.8.11.0) ?
When I remove the packages �libwxbase�, then again I have the same error.

However trying to download and installing my favorite browser I get an error: Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libqt3-mt (>= 3.3.4) im downloading the default package, and ran the package install thingy. I googled around trying to find a solution, but I found mostly for older versions of ubuntu and dont know if they apply to my problem. I also tried some tips I found running a command with something like sudo apt-get install libqt3-mt. then i end up with this response:

I am very new to Ubuntu. I have installed Ubuntu 9.10 yesterday from downloading file from Website on my Acer Laptop. I am using Ubuntu Hardy. I tried to install Skype and it showed this error message "Skype dependency is not satisfiable libasound2". Then I check the synaptic manager it shows that the libasound2 is already installed. Then I reinstalled the libasound2 using terminal. But the error is still showing. On googleing I found in most of the forums the solution was to upgrade from edgy to feisty so it was no use to me.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter mapping iscsi storage from my netapp and scanning for new devices I run multipath -v2 to create the multipath device handle under /dev/mapping/. This normally takes about 2 seconds or less on every other linux distribution I use. On Stretch it takes a little over 3 minutes. I have tried several different versions of multipath.conf but the result is always the same.

I have installed debian stretch on this machine, but can't get wired ethernet running. Using Slitaz live disc, the wired connection works. Guess I am missing a package or two.

This new version has been available at the web site since November,but has yet to be updated on the Ubuntu sites.Anyway,I tried to install it by double-clicking it in Nautilus. It works with either the 2.6.29 or 2.6.30 kernels, but with 2.6.30 I'm having screen brightness issues that I can't seem to get rid of. So I want to run 2.6.29, but virtualbox is a bit of a problem because it requires linux-headers-2.6.29, but when I try to install the amd64 headers it tells me that it cannot install the dependency linux-kbuild-2.6.29. Is there any way I can get that dependency installed on my computer?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've got this weird problem: when I reboot my Debian 8.3 server, I have to run through the crypto unlocking processes for my encrypted volumes a few times before I actually get to a login screen. The operation times out 85% of the time, leaving me to reboot and try over and over until the system is happy.
Here's my partitioning setup (manually partitioned at install):
/boot: 500 MB, EXT2, nodev, nosuid, noexec
/tmp: 2 GB, EXT2, AES-256/xts-plain64 with RANDOM KEY
swap: 2.5 GB, AES-256/xts-plain 64 with RANDOM KEY

I had the same problem in previous builds where I chose Twofish instead of AES, and I was hoping that the timeouts would be fixed by switching to AES as my CPU has the AES instruction set. Obviously that didn't make a damn bit of difference.
What am I doing wrong, or what should I change in my setup? The encryption is a requirement. Could the problem be caused by something as stupid as using a RANDOM KEY instead of a PASSPHRASE on /tmp and swap?

I recently upgraded my Debian box from Jessie to Stretch. After this, apt informed me that I should issue "apt-get autoremove," however the package list to be effected was large and contained some important packages (xorg being just one example). Most of the packages are qt4 related, and I at first assumed qt5 equivalents had replaced them, but seeing network-manager and xorg in the list made me pause.
