CentOS 5 :: Install Vlc Dependency File Manually?

i installed centos 5 in my pc. and i installed vlc 0.9.9.rpm. while installing it is asking some dependency files. then i install rpmforge.rpm. rpmforge clears all dependency files so then i am able to install vlc on my pc very successfully. now i have a another pc with centos 5. i dont have network connection on second pc.
so i want to copy these dependency files (installed by rpmforge while installing vlc) from first computer to sencond computer(without internet) by pen drive. and want to install these dependency files manually.because rpmforge is install dependency files form internet. is it possible to install dependency file manually.

how to update my system online (for example my firefox 3.0 to 3.5) but i can't figure out how this possibly works. I tried the "online update" using Yast2 but apparently (according to Yast) there is nothing at all to be patched on my system. I tried to click on the Firefox-3.5.5 rpm in the repository web-interface and open it using "install software" but the process aborts because of unresolved dependencies. Is there an easy way to update software without having to download/install every dependency manually?

I made a bit of a schoolboy error with Ubuntu. I was without an internet connection so attempted to install OpenShot manually, using .debs. Naturally there were too many dependencies to chase up but I did install some of them...! Now my connection is back i tried to install openshot (from the recommended ppa) as well as upgrading vlc (from the recommended ppa). Naturally OpenShot won't install as I have my dependencies all over the place. I was wondering if there was a way to track and uninstall/purge the last few manually installed packages, and if then installing openshot would proceed normally.

Is there any way that I can get a list of packages (on the command line) that have been installed manually i.e. all those that haven't been installed as dependencies? I think this must be possible as apt seems to know which dependency packages are no longer required i.e. apt-get autoremove

I want to install the subversion. I want to install the depandancy files like gcc, gcc-++ etc. But when I try to use Yum, I get errors. When I tried yum install I got the following erro xulrunner-1.9.2.17-3.el5.x86_64 from updates has depsolving problems

I accidentally removed yum, yum-fastestmirror etc. packages on Centos 5.3 after a failed "yum update" to update Centos 5.3 to 5.4. re-install yum packages manually by rpm.
I copied yum-3.2.19-18.el5.centos.noarch.rpm and yum-fastestmirror-1.1.16-13.el5.centos.noarch.rpm to my file system and tried to install by rpm. I got the following messages:

I have been able to load CentOS on my computer. I have the motherboard DG41TY from Intel. It seems that the only problem I have is my network card does not work. On the Intel site there is a link to download the network driver for Linux. I did that. It's an rpm file. realtek-r8169-kmp-default-8.004.00_2.6.16.60_0.21-0.i586.rpm is the name. When i right click and say install it tried to connect to the internet for some thing and fails. of coarse it does there not loaded yet. I added a second nic that cent did recognize and got me online. I want to load the on board driver and remove the add on card. When I try to load now I get missing dependencys.

Fresh instalaation of Centos 5.3 (32 bit machine). Got the Dag-Wier repos set up. Ran yum install videolan-client which found one missing dependency: libdvdread.so.3 is needed by vlc.0.9.9-2.el5.rf.i386. Looking in /usr/lib, I find libdvdread.so.4.1.3 installed, but no libdvdread.so.3. I created a symboloic link libdvdread.s0.3 -> libdvdread.so.4..1.3 and rand ldconfig. Tried to install videolan-client again with yum but got the same failed dependency. how to get vlc installed?

I've recently installed cacti on one of my servers and grimaced a bit when I had to install additional third-party yum repositories for CentOS 6. My question is, how does one go about preventing potential conflicts with certain dependencies overwriting key/critical dependencies relied upon from packages that might share them, i.e. apache? I understand yum priorities and have read the discussions regarding pros/cons from the threads involving one of the YUM maintainers. Since I need my servers to act as production-class equipment and, hence, be as reliable as they can, I'm always hesitant to allow yum to automate package upgrades when third-party repos are involved. How best to handle this?

Just tried updating 5.2 to 5.3; using both pup and yum, and both get the same error:
Error: Missing Dependency: libgpod.so.0 is needed by package rhythmbox
If I remove rhythmbox (I don't use it on this machine) the upgrade works, but I thought I'd post in case someone wanted to take a look at it.

I'm trying just a generic yum update to bring the machine up to date, I'm running into problems with two packages and their dependencies, kpartx and lvm2
I've removed any additional repositories, and performed a yum clean all
I think my problem comes down to device-mapper, it's asking for 1.02.32-1 to install lvm2 however if I run a yum list device-mapper it only shows 1.02.24-1.el5 as installed, and it is not marked for update. I've tried downloading the rpm directly, If i try to install the rpm with yum I'm told that there is nothing to do, if I try to install directly I run into problems with conflicts with the already installed package.
The kpartx seems dependent on device-mapper-multipath
I'm getting this problem on 2 machines.

I am trying to update CentOS 5.6 but its throwing me an missing dependency error.

Recently installed - manually, not with yum, the rpm distribution of the latest MySql (5.1.34) as I needed the latest version, not the one that YUM lists. I am now trying to set up (for the first time) an email server on the same system, and I have been led to believe that postfix and dovecot are the way to go. What i want to be able to do is create a custom kickstart for my centOS 5 server. I want to create a bootable cd that I can pop in my server and basically walk away for 45 minutes and I come back and its fully installed. All the directions I have read so far tell me that I have to create a seperate ks.cfg and then I need my original centos cd to get it booted. Then the cd will ask for where the ks.cfg file is and I have to type the location. I just want to pop the CD in and type in linux_clean or something and have it perform a custom install based on the information and specification in my ks.cfg. How can I go about doing this?
