View 3 RepliesI am using Ubuntu 10.04, and from the moment I installed it, I couldn't type capital z, all other shift+letter are working fine, but when it comes to z, it pops up a message with the title Metacity saying:There was an error running System Monitor:Failed to execute child process System(No such file or directory)
How can I fix it?(And yes, I can use Caps-lock and z, but I wonder what is causing the problem)
I'm wondering if it's possible like in OS X, to have the some of the emacs and terminal keys binded to all applications.
e.g. In the google search bar, having M-f to move forward over a word, etc. I'm most interested in M-b, M-f, C-a,C-e.
Is this kind of setup made in the kernel?
The full log is too long to post here (I could upload it somewhere if necessary) but here is the relevant part.

I will attach a image of Firefox and Rekonq for contrast. As you can see from the picture, Rekonq is displaying everything in majuscule, while Firefox is fine.
I am running Kubuntu 10.10 64-bit
I wasn't sure what to put this in since I don't know what the source of the problem could be. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 (gonna upgrade soon) and as of yesterday I haven't been able to get a capital t from pressing shift+t keys. For some reason, all other keys work fine. Yesterday, the keys were triggering as maximize window/unmaximize window. I checked the keyboard shortcuts in Gnome and shift+t wasn't set to anything. I then assigned it to something else and removed it, and now the maximize/unmaximize problem is gone, but nothing happens when I press shift+t while typing. I can still get a capital T like I just did with caps lock on.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI feel shy asking this question but, 90% of the applications I install in Ubuntu (last release), do not show up later on in the applications menu, so I cant run them. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm setting up a large number of virtual machines, each with a basic set of about 30 applications. Obviously, I don't want to do everything manually so I'm looking for ways to automate this process. Multiple distributions (Ubuntu, Red Hat Ent., FreeBSD, CentOS, etc.) will be used, meaning I will have a few Ubuntu installs with the basic set of 30 applications, and multiple Red Hat installs with the same set, etc. So, I'm looking for advice on automating as much of this as I can, even if it means a new form of automation for each distro.
