View 2 RepliesI want to install the LaTeX plugin for gedit. There is a Ubuntu package for this, but it seems to want to install an entire TeX system in addition to the plugin. I keep my LaTeX current from the texlive distribution, and Ubuntu tends to a year behind in its LaTeX distribution. Question: Will the package installer detect that I have a current LaTeX system and not install an older version?
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter a month or so on a WUBI install (Lucid Lynx 64bit) I decided to pass to a clean install to a dedicated partition and here I am, almost happy. I have installed 5* ( uninstalled & installed) gedit-plugins package by every means I know of (apt-get from terminal, ubuntu software center, synaptics) and I also have downloaded and unzipped the package to ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. But none of the plugins is working.
I don't know if it is relevant, but i noticed the following: on my wubi installation i had installed gedit-plugins with apt-get and it had installed in the ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. Now I find the contents of the package in /usr/lib/gedit-2/plugins and /usr/lib64/gedit-2/plugins. I don't know if it has anything to do with anything.
I am using the Gedit LaTeX Plugin 0.2 rc3 on ubuntu 10.04 with gedit 2.30.3. The problem is that it will not make pdf files. I do have rubber installed.

I took it from here: [url]
It is pretty old, was not updated for a long time.
When configuring I get:

Alternatively you may set the GEDIT_CFLAGS and GEDIT_LIBS environment variables to avoid the need to call pkg-config. See the pkg-config man page for more details.
I have installed gedit-devel but it did not help unfortunately.
I'm trying to install extra tags into the taglist plugin for gedit.
Since upgrading to Lucid I've been unable to make this work.
I've tried putting them in both the following locations without joy:
I've also tried putting the tags in there in both compressed and non-compressed format:
ive installed the classbrowser plugin for gedit, and installed it the correct manner, by copying all the contents of the download to the .gnome2/gedit/plugins folder. The side pane shows up when i enable the plugin but it doesnt seem to do anything (the pane is just blank). Do i need to do anything else to get it to work?

But the checkbox to enable it in gedit becomes grayed out once I click it and it doesn't enable. (note that I used "pip install ElasticTabstops" instead of "easy_install ElasticTabstops", because that's what Arch uses)
I need some plugin for Gedit (or maybe other HTML-editor) which will make tags of words, like: I type "div", hit some hotkeys or anything else with keyboard and get "<div></div>". The same with all the words I type in. Do you guys know which piece of software can do such things?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am a semi-noob on this and I have problems getting my emacs recognizing .tex as latex and even running latex-mode. Usually when you run latex-mode (M-x : latex-mode) emacs should switch to latex-mode, but nothing happens in my case. The menu bar still show the TeX options, highlighting remains the same etc.
I am running emacs 23.1.1 (x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.10.4), this is on a university system so I don't know much about it.

I installed the vim-latex suite. Syntax colors are working great, but the autoindent feature is not working like it works for .html and .f90 files. My .vimrc file is, as far as I can see, correct:
Code:

" IMPORTANT: win32 users will need to have 'shellslash' set so that latex
" can be called correctly.
set shellslash
" IMPORTANT: grep will sometimes skip displaying the file name if you
" search in a singe file. This will confuse Latex-Suite. Set your grep
" program to always generate a file-name.
set grepprg=grep -nH $* .....
I have some strange behavior in Latex. I have added labels to all of my tables (currently there are 3) and my figure (currently there is only 1). So far I only notice this behavior with tables, though it may happen with figures as well...I will have to add another figure to test that. However, what is happening is that my list of tables is correctly generating the numbers of the tables (which are 3.1, 3.2, and 4.1). In the resulting PDF document, the tables have the correct numbers in the captions as well. The odd thing is that when I attempt to reference them using ef, it is printing the Chapter.Section[.Subsection] number the table is located in instead of the table's number itself.Right now I have two tables inside of Chapter 3 Section 3. They are as follows:
Code:
egin{table}[htdp]
egin{center}

Is there any gedit plugin, which expands folders of file browser side pane and shows currently editing file, while user switches between tabs?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with compiling bibliography in Latex running on Debain Jessie. I have even tried to compile the stock example provided by ShareLatex web site, and it still doesn't work.I keep getting same error messages, when I run my own files AND the stock example:

I've been with this problem for ages and finally decided to post. Installed the gedit-plugins package (Version: 2.30.0-1ubuntu1). After enabling Show/Hide Tabbar plugin, and unckecking View-> Tabbar, tabs are still there, anyone knows what may be happening? I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10 amd64, with gedit version 2.30.3

I've been battling with this weird problem for a while now and since I can't seem to find a decent answer I'm hoping one of you guys can steer me in the right direction. The problem is simple... syntax highlighting is not working consistently on ".rb" files.
My user name on my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS is jean-marc. So if I do
touch /home/jean-marc/testing.rb
and then
gedit /home/jean-marc/testing.rb
The file comes up as "Plain Text"
If I copy the file into /tmp/ and do gedit /tmp/testing.rb
the file comes up as "Ruby"
If I do
gedit /home/jean-marc/afile.rb
and the file does not exists the file comes up as "Ruby"
If I manually set the Syntax Highlight mode on my file gedit seems to remember it. Since most of the files are generated through scripting they all come as "Plain Text" and it's definitely not the best way to edit them. Also, the files, no matter where they are show up as "Ruby script (application/x-ruby)" when showing the attributes through nautilus. Now, before someone tells use, use this software or that software instead of gedit, well I'm happy with the tool and its plugins. I'm efficient with it and I'd rather stick to it.
When trying to use gedit in su mode get this:

any other options or a way to boot the graphic mode in root?

When scrolling down in nano with keyboard (holding "down" key), nano scrolls several lines at once each time. Is there any possibility to configure it so it will scroll one line each time like gedit does when scrolling in gedit?
View 3 Replies View RelatedGedit windows don't aerosnap left or right. They do upwards (to maximize).
Fedora 15, Gnome Shell, enjoying it.
A classical case for "aerosnapping" two windows side by side, in my experience, is a terminal on one side and a HOWTO in gedit on the other side. This allows easy copy and paste.
Anyway, a gedit window doesn't aerosnap left and right (it only heeds to aerosnapping on the top, for maximizing its window).
