Ubuntu :: Error. Exception Has Been Thrown By The Target Of An Invocation"

Mar 30, 2010

Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit. I was importing photos into f-spot. Then my laptop shutdown because it overheated (a different problem). Now f-spot will not open. A dialog pops up and says "F-Spot Encountered a Fatal Error. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation." Here are the error details:

An unhandled exception was thrown: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.at System.Reflection.MonoCMethod.Invoke (System.Object obj, BindingFlags invokeAttr, System.Reflection.Binder binder, System.Object[] parameters, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) [0x00000]

I've read somewhere that there might be a bug with themes, but I've changed mine back and forth. I don't really think this is a bug as much as something that happened when the computer crashed. I've tried uninstalling f-spot and reinstalling it, I get the same error above. Anybody have any idea on how to get it working again?

Ubuntu Installation :: Previous Linux Version Boot

May 14, 2011

I upgraded from 10.10 to 11.04. on boot up I sometimes get only the purple screen freeze and sometimes I actually get to the grub menu. I select the generic kernel and get the black screen freeze. same if I do the recovery mode. but if I get lucky on a reboot and can get the grub menu up again, I select previous linux version and then select 2.6.35 generic and it will boot into 11.04 with Unity. So, how can I get this thing to boot normal with the correct kernel version? I am fairly new to this linux world and don't want to have to go back to windows if I can help it.

OpenSUSE Install :: Wrong Linux Kernel Version Reported By Uname -a

Jan 6, 2010

I am an openSuSE user for many years. My current installation is openSuSE 11.2. However, my first was SuSE 6.4 and I have been _constantly_ upgrading since then until reaching the current openSuSE 11.2. The technical issue I have been facing lately is with the kernel version of my current system: although it should be, as this is the one I have chosen via the online update mechanism and the yast2 system boot-loader procedure, grub shows it as preselected, the boot procedure in the end greets me mentioning this very kernel version, _but_ when I issue the command: uname -a in a command prompt, I am informed of using linux kernel version: #1 SMP PREEMPT

I am really quite puzzled, since I _cannot_ find any such vmlinuz file under /boot/ ! Could it be that my system properly runs with the expected kernel version, but uname mistakes it with a different one? Is there a way to determine the actual version of the linux kernel that my system currently runs with? If it's a problem with uname, have you got any suggestions that could potentially shed some light towards the origin/cause of the reported issue?

Fedora Installation :: Error, Saying I Had Bad Sector(s) The Error Told Me To Run Chkdsk /f /r In Windows, Then I Could Run Ntfsresize With -b, (in Linux)

Feb 22, 2009

I have the DVD installer of Fedora 10, i want to dual boot with windows vista. well i get up to the partitioning part of installation (in anconda) and it asks me how i want to partition it... i wanted to re size my partition and create the default format, so i keyd in 70GB and Okay. then it came up with an error, saying I had bad sector(s) The error told me to run chkdsk /f /r in windows, then i could run ntfsresize with -b, (in Linux) well i did all those steps, and shrunk /dev/sda1 to 70gb (/dev/sda2 is my recovery partition) i have a 140 gb hard drive, but can't find the unallocated space anywhere!

when i booted windows, it ran a chksdk, like it should, and in my computer it said that it had been shrunk (because the pie graph showed a capacity of around 70GB) When i go into windows disk management it says no unallocated space, just one big partition (and a 8gb recovery partition) this is the same with GParted on puppy linux, GParted on fedora 10 (live cd) says there is no drives I can mount or unmount and same error on partition logic... in EASUS partition manager i get told that there is no unallocated space, in the fedora installer there is only /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2. Does anybody know.. how to install fedora on this partition, or get rid of the partition and repartition it another way. when i click on the option to remove all linux partitions and create default format, it errors and says it cannot make another primary partition, then says there is no room for /boot. and i can not proceed.
