Ubuntu Servers :: What Is The Folder Named Enwiki In Hadoop
Jan 4, 2010
I download a gz pack from hadoop's official website. It's only 30MB. But my friend give me another package. It's more than 3GB...after decompressing,it's 11.3GB! and I found that the folder enwiki is about 11GB!! but I didn't find this folder in offical package. I wonder what this folder is used for? Is it indispensable?? 3Q~
Mandriva 2009, BIND 9.5.0-P2. Named will start however I'm getting the above error as well as these:
14-Mar-2009 15:45:37.084 general: error: zone 0.in-addr.arpa/IN: loading from master file /var/lib/named/var/named/reverse/named.zero failed: file not found 14-Mar-2009 15:45:37.084 general: error: zone 0.0.127.in-addr.arpa/IN: loading from master file /var/lib/named/var/named/reverse/named.local failed: file not found
Named shows to be running but with the errors above I know it's not running correctly. I also copied the above dir's over to /var/lib/named/var/lib/named which is where I 'believe' it's chroot'd at, though I could be wrong since I'm unfamiliar with chroot.
I have for a while been trying to setup ssh so hadoop can ssh without a password to all it's nodes. (Currenly 2 nodes)But i can not get the ssh to login without either asking for a password or just getting access denied (public key)I have been following two guidesFirst:Setting up SingleNode ClusterThen after:Setting up Multinode ClusterI have also done various ssh tutorials on setting up ssh.I got to the point where i do the command bin/start-dfs.shThen it begins asking for passwords. Which it should'nt.The problem is that ssh is not setup correcly. And whatever i try i get problems with logging in.the computers are called.

I've suddenly stopped getting emails from logwatch which runs on an Ubuntu server daily using cron. After a good day or so of troubleshooting, I was able to establish that it was the 'Service = named' line in my logwatch.conf file, which was stopping the emails from coming through. If I commented out this line, the logwatch emails come through with no issues, uncomment, and I don't get an email. I don't get any error from logwatch itself when I run it, even with '--debug high', leading me to think that my email configuration is setup ok, at least. Furthermore, I tried running logwatch with '--output file --format html' and logwatch produces a valid html file.
I then thought: "Could I have a entry in my Bind/named log files which could be rejected by my ISP's smtp server?". So, (to the best of my knowledge) I cleared out the log files in /var/log that contained messages from named. I then ran logwatch (including the named service in my logwatch.conf file) and I got an email through, with a pretty much empty named section, which is exactly what I anticipated. Great! - it's fixed.
So, the cron.daily ran early this morning, but still no email in my inbox when I got up. I then tried to run 'logwatch --Range today' and lo and behold, I got a logwatch report email, which included a named section, with log entries in there. So it seems that something that's been logged by named overnight to my logfiles (i.e. '--Range yesterday') has caused issues again with logwatch's ability to send reports through my ISP's smtp servers.
I am running named as a caching name server (package bind-9.7.3-1.fc14.x86_64 with config files exactly as supplied), and sometimes it does not shut down cleanly when I shut down the machine. The script /etc/ init.d/named tries to issue a "stop" command with rndc and that seems to fail most of the time; then it next uses the function killproc (defined in /etc/init.d/functions) which fails sometimes.I've hacked the named service script for now so that error messages are not hidden, but there is nothing reported.
I'm using ubuntu server 9.10 for a home build NAS. Everything is working great just have one more thing to figure out. I have Samba set up to access my files and I set up a recycle feature so anything deleted will get moved to a Recycled folder. (I learned this the hard way after hitting delete key by accident while browsing the shares in windows. Lost 100 GB of data)
Now it is for the most part working but the permissions on folders isn't getting set right. If I delete a file in a share I can go to Recycle bin folder and delete the file for good. But if I delete a folder I can not access that folder to delete or restore from the Recycle bin folder. I have to chmod the folder before I can do anything with it. Anything I can change to get folders deleted via windows to have the right permissions when it is moved to the Recycle bin folder?
I am attempting to make a shared folder for people that VPN into the network. This folder needs to be accessible to windows and mac machines. So far I have the VPN through ppptd working. I just don't know how to make a folder. I feel like this should be fairly easy. I am using Lucid Lynx server edition.
I and setting up a home web server using Ubuntu 10.04 server (local only). I am currently using Webmin 1.53 to access it remotely all is going great very easy to use. Webmin - Check, ftps-fileZilla - Check, Apache -It Works BUT I cant seam to set up Apache as a named server using Bind DSN. Tried most of the help in the fourms and ..... I think my problems is in the master server selection, do i have to use [URL]... or can i just use myservername. I have tryed both with no luck. First time with the server addition.
I use named as a local caching nameserver (it has seemed the most stable DNS solution in the past given my ISP's flaky DNS servers) and I've noticed (since using fedora 12) a number of "broken trust chain" messages from named in /var/log/messages, for example:
i've made a big update of almost 300Mb.I'had a working DNS server. Now, when i boot the box, named works and it resolves all the clients. If i make any change (enter a new client for example) and of course i restart named (service named restart), named stop but does not start again !!!In order to get a working named, i 'm obliged to reboot the box?
I have created a folder including some html link pages in /test/htlink . Now I want to create a soft link of that folder as htlink -> /test/htlink in /var/www/html . Now when I m browsing the folder , its erroring (404 Not Found) folder is not found on the server . I have given 777 permission on every file-folder in /test . No firewall & no SELINUX .
I want to protect one of the folders in my VPS which is running under Ubuntu server 10.04 LTS I've tried doing this using .htaccess and I am being prompted for a user name and a password but when i enter the user name and the password I get the same window again but I am sure that I am entering the correct information. this is the .htaccess file code...
this file is located in the same folder that I want to protect. code...
I'm new to Ubuntu (at least on server distributions). I used debian versions for a long time and thought, to try ubuntu LTS 10.0.4, because of the long time support cycle. I had problems, to install this distribution on a x86 platform (used with ASUS P4B533-v), because of kernel panic after installation. So I used a trick to get it running. I installed Ubuntu LTS 8.04 and compiled a kernel 2.6.34 and made a distupgrade. All went o.k. and is now running as a productive system.
My question now belongs to the used pid folder /var/run. I'm using some self compiled programs and had to create a separatly folder (e.g. /var/run/stunnel). My problem is, after rebooting the system, the folder is deleted automatically! Never saw this issue on other distributions. Is there any reason why? Of course, I can write a section in my init script, searching for existing folder and if not, creating it ...
We have an Iomega StorCenter ix4-200d in our office. for past two days the shared public folder is not getting mounted. but it's working fine through the web interface i.e user can upload/download.that rules out the permissions problems.
I am providing the output of mount command:
t227@t227:/var/log$ sudo mount -t cifs --verbose //220.127.116.11/public /mnt/public/ -o username=shrey [sudo] password for t227: Password:
in fact i can't access any of the folder which I am having permissions to rw.but it's working fine through the web interface.
Looking for a way to add multiple groups to a folder. This feature is obviously available in most other platforms (Mac, Windows). Why can't I find any reference to this, or better yet, why doesn't this feature exist?
First off I'm running a headless Ubuntu server 10.10 box.I have a single folder on a ntfs drive that I wish to copy somewhere else on the same HD. I'd like this to automatically happen about once a week or so. It would be even better if it would tarball the copy also..but this isn't a 100% necessary.
Something like "XFOLDER" would be copied to "/backup/XFOLDER1.tar" then next time "/backup/XFOLDER2.tar" and so on.
Anyone know if you can use samba to share a folder to stream music and video files to a wireless enabled dvd player? I have a machine running Ubuntu server and have all my music stored and shared using nfs with my network computers. I just got a Samsung BD-P3600 blu-ray player that has wireless for blockbuster, netflix, pandora, and you tube. You can also setup a shared folder on a Windows system to allow play back on the blu-ray player. I was just wondering if anybody has tried it with ubuntu and samba.
I recently set up a computer running Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop for use as a server, and successfully have it hosting game servers.I'm relatively new to Ubuntu, so I'm not sure how to go about this, but ideally I would like a user to be able to access a single folder on the server over the internet, and be able to upload and download files from it.It would be nice to set up multiple folders like this, so different people would have access to their own personal folder, but not anyone else's.
I have samba allowing only known users, and on the ubuntu side, I have the folder permission 777. I have the same exact samba smb.conf file(locations of course matching new server), but I can't get it to authenticate with the new server(Old server is up and running too) and I'm lost. I thought I had it figured out when I did my last server, but I seem to be missing something on this one.
