Mar 22, 2011I have just created an 11.3 64 bit image using susestudio. All seems well but would like to customize the desktop via my script that I have added. My question is how do I remove the home directory and the trash icon from the desktop? Or better said what is the path to removing the symbolic link, I cannot find the symbolic links in the desktop directory. It is empty, I do not see any symbolic links under /home/test/Desktop?

Jul 2, 2010Well I'll start off with the recent changes I've made. I have three hard drives in my PC, two of which are formated NTFS. I recently installed Storage Device Manager and changed a few options around so they auto-mount of start up. Well when I did this, and wanted to delete files off those drives, I suddenly was being promoted that I must delete them permanently or not all at (wouldn't go into the trash)
I added the lines to FSTAB: uid=1000,gid=1000 0 1
So for example my secondary drive is:
nls=iso8859-1,umask=000,uid=1000,gid=1000,0,1
And also added .Trash-1000 folders in each of the two NTFS drives.
When I delete items off one of the two NTFS disks they go to the trash... I don't get the "delete forever" prompt and I can actually see them in the trash bin.
But when I empty the trash the icon remains that of the "full" trash, despite when I open it there being no trash in it.

Jul 25, 2011From what I gather, there's no way to remove the Trash icon from the Unity launcher, or to hide it; is this true? I noticed that if I delete ~/.local/share/Trash, the file re-appears if I click on the Trash icon in the launcher.

Jan 21, 2010I have another complaint:I cannot find the Trash icon. I want to clean up my disk space. I googled how to delete files and I wasn't sure which way was best. I sometimes use the 'trash' and 'empty trash bin' except I cannot find the icon.I assume there is a command for doing that but after googling, there are only a few (OLDER) posts or articles of doing it in older versions of Fedora and they're all Gnome-based. My install is KDE.

May 28, 2011some reason I lost my default icon sizes in Nautilus. This only appears to affect any graphic files like .jpg, .png, etc. that I keep in my "Pictures" folder. I also have this issue with video files that I keep in my "Video" folder.Currently I am running Ubuntu Natty and using the Ambiance theme that is customized with Faenznt icons. Nautilus is customized with Nautilus Elementary. Changing themes has no effect. The folders all appear normal and other icon file types appear normal, it's just my graphic d video files that are appearing small.Running dconf editor shows my icon setting is set to normal. I am enclosing a pic so you can see the folders display at a normal size, but the graphic files do not.

Jan 18, 2010Last night I upgraded to the 10.04 development release, and I am pleased with what I see so far. I ran into a problem, however, with the power manager.I am using an MSI Wind U100.
First, I have lost my battery icon from the notification area. It reappears if I plug in, or unplug my AC adapter.
Second, under, "Power Management Preferences" I have lost my "On Battery Power" tab, leaving only, "On AC Power" and "General"
If I wait about seven minutes, the battery icon will appear in the notification area, but the tab remains lost.The problem is due to update. I have confirmed by installing a fresh 9.10 and upgrading again to 10.04 without making any other changes to system.

Funny thing I do get Ubuntu OS Audio sounds Now as well I lost control of my Volume with my Keyboard, pretty sure it has to do with the same Sound icon in the Top panel that is missing The only way I can control Audio is Manually using: gnome-alsamixer 0.9.7
It sucks big time, because I can't control my Audio when ever I need to mute it or upper/lower it through my keyboard fastly when needed. having to manually opening an application to be able to change/control the Audio volume is a huge hassle for me

I did " sudo gnome - panel restart and got them back , All but the wireless icon and I do not have a clue how to get it back. I also need to know how to get my pc to see the ubuntu os on the same network and how to view its traffic as part to police what my daughter is doing.
