Software :: Convert Kaspersky Virus Signature To Clamav

Sep 28, 2010

I was curious if anyone has attempted or successfully converted a kaspersky virus signature file to clamav signature? During a trial period using kaspersky anti virus for our web server I successfully petitioned them to write signatures for some nasty php web-shell hacks, and now that the trial period has expired I don't have the ability to scan for the files anymore (I know I am cheap!). The first hurdle would be finding the correct file, as their signatures are all done in hexadecimal format, and my knowledge for searching through that type of file is very limited.

Debian Installation :: 'driver' Pcspkr Already Registered Then CRASH?

Jul 5, 2011

I have a squeeze net install cd I downloaded and have used to install on two computers. Now I try to install on a third computer, install seems to go well, but when I try to run it, I get the message about 'driver' pcspkr already registered. Then CRASH. So, I wiped the HD and tried again; same result.

I figured the cd might have been corrupted so downloaded and burned another. This time I downloaded from a different mirror. Same result. I don't know what this pcspkr is all about; I don't even own any pc speakers. The computer on which this happens runs Lenny on another HD.

Debian Installation :: Error: Driver 'pcspkr' Is Already Registered, Aborting

Mar 15, 2010

I recently installed Lenny 5.0.3 i386 onto an old HP XE783 box. I've got a couple of errors that pop up on boot, and I'm not sure how to troubleshoot them. A couple of the lines from /var/dmesg that strike me:weird, boot CPU (#0) not listedby the BIOS. ACPI Error (dsopcode-0595): Field [ALB2] at 120 exceeds Buffer [CRSA] size 104 (bits) [20080321] {along with two other ACPI Errors (psparse-0530): Method parse/execution failed; and (uteval-0233): Method execution failed.}.Error: Driver 'pcspkr' is already registered, aborting.

The most annoying thing (I think) has to do with the ACPI errors: the box won't power down after issuing a shutdown command; it bumps into single user mode then prompts for the root PW.

my laptop currently has 8GB of RAM and I wouldn't want that going to waste. I have read about the issues with flash on the 64 bit versions of buntu. Would you recommend going 64-bit or 32-bit with PAE? also, does the 10.10 kernel have PAE enabled by default?

Fedora :: Does Xorg.conf Get A One User Only Version?

Dec 18, 2010

Something bad happens after installing nvidia driver for my fedora 14. It's about the stored driver/xorg configuration, and it only affect on my current account. So I wanna know where can be a one-user-only VGA driver configuration stored. I'll delete it, it's give me a big trouble. Belows are how it become like this, and how the trouble appears. after nv driver installed, I change the /etx/X11/xorg.conf file and start another X with another account without exit current X. Now, everytime when I start gnome with current account, it pop up a message writes

Could not apply the stored configuration for monitors none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible modes: Trying modes for CRTC 354

[Code]...

And I have to wait for this pop-up message to disappear. During this some 2 minutes, I can't do anything, even Ctr+Alt+F5 to switch terminal fails. I can't PrintScreen neither. I've been uninstalled nv driver twince for this. but right now I decide to fix it.

Debian :: Root / Super User Access On KDE Version

Mar 16, 2009

After a week of working with Debian, I decided to install the KDE3 version straight from an NetInstall CD. This fixed some issues for me as well as made networking and folder sharring a snap! But now its time to add all the extra packages I need.

Here's the problem: Using any kind of Package Manager yields the same results:
E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (var/lib/dpkg/), in another process using it?
RESULT=100

I've tried apt-get from root command line and the KPackage Manager that comes with KDE3 with same results. I have only one user that was created during Debian install. I'm having some other problems, from what I've seen on the net, they all seem to point to not having proper Super User access (I'm guessing here). What could cause this error? AND/OR How do I make sure I have top level access to the configure the system? (I tried logging in as "root", but the login errored out saying that this was not allowed).

I remember having the same problem with kde/Fedora a few years back, and I can't remember the solution. Trying to open any attachment in evolution gives the error "No application is registered as handling this file" and you have to save the attachment, and then open it as normal. I have checked all the file associations, and they are fine, and the same attachment in evolution under Gnome opens fine.
