Ubuntu Installation :: Ignored Repositories When Updating Package List?

Dec 3, 2010

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my Ubuntu 10.10 since a few days:when trying to update the packages list, a lot of repositories are ignored. Here is the output of

sudo apt-get update | grep -i ign
Ign http://extras.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main Translation-en
Ign http://extras.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main Translation-en_GB[code]....

How come all these repositories cannot be hit?is there any way to make the update hit there repositories? And if they're useless, no longer supported, how can I remove them so to have a tidy repositories list?

Ubuntu Installation :: Updating The Repositories To Natty (11.04)

After my system was updated to Natty, even though Software Sources is set for LTS updates only, none of the repositories in Software Sources or /etc/apt/sources.list.d were updated. I have manually updated the Software Sources repositories, and removed the outdated repositories from /etc/apt/sources.list.d, but when I do apt-get update I still see references to previous Ubuntu versions. How do I update ALL the repositories?

OpenSUSE :: WARNING - Unable To Download List Of Repositories Or No Repositories Defined

Feb 9, 2011

I am running Suse 11.1 64bit, with KDE, recently I received a pop up on my screen, "something about update problems", I used Yast 2 and selected online Update and it couldn't find updates for Nvidia and froze at that point. I dis-enabled that repository and refreshed all of the remaining Repositories individually and it seemed to work. I then went to the repositories listing and selected "Add" and selected "community" repositories and received the following: WARNING Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined. What is my problem? How do I acquire the list of community repositories? I can live with out the Nvidia repository for now but would eventually like to get it back.

I hope this is the right forum in which to post this but I am currently running SUSE 11.2(I know im a couple versions back, its a long story but this box has been in storage for awhile) but the problem I am having is with updating SUSE and accessing the repositories through the Yast Software Installer. When I open it I get several variations of this message:

Download failed:

Ubuntu Installation :: Package Manager Won't Update Source List Pmcenery-ppa-lucid?

May 4, 2011

I recently got an iPhone 3g and have been trying to upload music onto my device with Rhythmbox because my computer exclusively runs Ubuntu (10.04 LTS, Lucid Lynx). Rhythmbox would show files that were dragged and dropped as being on the iPhone, and they appeared in the iPhone's folders, but they weren't recognized in the iPod player. I followed a variety of forum threads to try to fix the problem, but ended up creating a whole new set of problems with my package manager.

I get this error message before package manager opens: E: Type 'n' is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pmcenery-ppa-lucid.list E: The list of sources could not be read. Go to the repository dialog to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

And this message after I close the first error message window and the package manager opens: An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Type 'n' is not known on line 2 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pmcenery-ppa-lucid.list, E:The list of sources could not be read.' Does anyone have any recommendations on how to fix this? If it isn't already apparent, I am very inexperienced working with ubuntu, so the more detailed the response, the better.

I noticed in Software Manager there is Upgrades OpenSuse-release 11.4-1.8 - 11.4-1.9! What does this mean?

Debian Multimedia :: Make A Dialog With Zenity Which Would Show An Updating List?

Jan 4, 2011

Is there a way to make a dialog with zenity which would show an updating list? Zenity does it with progress, but I didn't figure out if it's possible to do it with the list. I.e. for example, I want to monitor something, and update the dialog with new list periodically. Is it even possible? zenity can wait for data from stdin, but it just adds stuff to the list. May be there are some control sequences which clear the list in the dialog?

For example:

{ echo "Foo"; sleep 2; echo "Bar"; } | zenity --list --title='Dynamic list?' --text='Some data' --column='values'

How can I instead of adding Bar, replace the Foo with it?

Index of /repositories/KDE:/Release:/46/openSUSE_11.4
Index of /repositories/KDE:/Extra/KDE_Release_46_openSUSE_11.4
repositories enabled. Since some days, if I go to YaST2 Package "Update packages if a new version is available" (I'm translating from Spanish) I get a warning that plasma-addons-4.6.5-9.3.x86_64 needs akonadi-runtime < 1.5.40, but that that requirement cannot be match because there are eliminated providers: akonadi-runtime-1.5.3-91.1.x86_64
and non instalable providers: akonadi-runtime-1.5.0-3.3.1.x86_64[openSUSE-11.4-11.4-0]
As "solution" it offers me to not install akonadi-runtime- and libakonadiprotocolinternals1- (which I selected) or to uninstall plasma-addons and kadressbook, which I do not think it is a good idea...
