I would like to know how i get the button that let you change the volume that use to be available to add to the panel in some older versions of Ubuntu. If theres something else out there that can do the same and is added to the panel then please do tell.
View 1 RepliesOn accident I removed the volume control from the top panel, and when I go back to the panel and click add panel there is no volume control there. Also I use uTorrent in win and the utorrent logo use to go into the panel, but now it loads in a separate window label wine system tray. I have searched around and have not found a fix for this.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI use alsa, and I don't have a volume control applet on my Gnome Panel.When I right click and select "add to panel", there is nothing that has to do with "sound", "audio" or "volume" in the list, and the "Indicator Applet" or "Indicator Applet Session" things have no volume controls, or properties that would let you enable any sort of volume control.
How can I get a volume control in Ubuntu, so I don't have to run aumix in a terminal or something? I've got the thing working now. But does anyone know why the new, fancy "Indicator Applet" volume control doesn't appear? The Gnome Volume Control Applet isn't as nicely featured, although it actually works.
I've been using Linux since Redhat 5, it's beyond me why these sorts of problems are still around. Someone should just put a damn "Volume Control" element in the list of things to add to the panel, even if it doesn't work, perhaps showing an error message.
The volume control in the Gnome panel system tray has disappeared from my wife's Ubuntu 10.04 system with the master volume set to zero.I was able to restore sound via System->Preferences->Sound master volume, but this is not particularly convienent. How do I restore the panel volume control? (the speaker icon on the panel, between the Network arrows and Chat/Mail setup icons).

View 1 Replies View RelatedSomeone on the forums had me uninstall pulseaudio to get pSX working, and now I don't have a volume control icon on the panel and when choosing to add stuff to the panel it isn't available.I re-installed pulseaudio through the package manager, but I have a feeling it didn't install everything that uninstalled with it.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to default volume to 100% in the terminal with gnome-volume-control-applet or any other program? I am setting up a dedicated Zsnes machine which boots into Fluxbox but the volume is muted by default. There isn't a man page for gnome-volume-control-applet.
When I log into Gnome the volume is set to 100%, but Fluxbox is always set to mute.
since using 10.04 I have a big problem with my usb headset (freetalk everyman)
1. Problem: I cannot regulate the volume of the phones (output) anymore with gnome-volume-control. By default the volume is set to 100% which is way too loud. When I set it under 100% there is no sound at all. Values over 100% work.
2. Problem: The X server is freezing iregulary when I connect the headset and disconnect it, Magic SysRq works. I checked Xorg.0.log and found out that it recognizes the usb headset as keyboard:

I'm using the Logitech MX1100 mouse which has a quite a few buttons. (10) I would like to use 2 of them for volume control (as I do for Windows) but have no idea how to in ubuntu 9.10. Is there any way I could map the buttons to control volume? I'm a minor noob so keep it simple.

I have tried looking for options in the Appearance and Windows options in Menu-system-preferences but cant find anything, that could be used to enable or disable this feature. Secondly, since upgrading to the current version of Ubuntu I have been missing the volume control button usually located by the date/wireless/ Power off button/ icons on the panel located top right of screen.
I accidentally removed the volume control from the panel (top right). I added it again (Indicator Applet), but now it's not on the far right with the time/date and wifi icons; it's in the middle part of the upper panel. How do I add applets to the far right of the upper panel?

I'm not sure if it had anything to do with the update, but it happened shortly after, so i'm thinking that it's likely.My laptop has one of those touch-pads that controls the volume. Now it won't work. I tried going into preferences<sound to change the volume, but that doesn't even work. As much as I change the volume, it just stays where it's at.
Volume control on the panel won't work either.Also, another problem I'm experiencing is that when I go on ..... all of the videos play really fast. =/ not sure if it's ubuntu related, but this problem started at the same time as the other.

View 5 Replies View RelatedThe only volume control panel object I've been able to find in Ubuntu 10.04 is the Indicator Applet, and that has a bug that makes accessing the system through a remote VNC Viewer unusable. (Every time you hit the 'M' key, it activates the applet menu. You cannot type 'm' into a document or form without shutting off the applet.)
So, since I use VNC to remotely access the machine fairly regularly, it's either remove the applet every time I do, and add it back again when I'm running local, run without a volume control, or find another panel applet that provides for volume control. (At least until the bug-fixed version of the applet is available.)
The thing is I've not been able to find another volume control applet. Can anyone tell me where to find one?

I tried upgrading to Rhythmbox 0.12 and in the process something messed up my sound. When i try and start the volume control panel via terminal i get this error:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI normally run KDE, but installed GNOME as well on my netbook (running openSUSE 11.2) to try out. However, I noticed there is no longer any volume control applet. The GNOME panel control is labeled 'deprecated', and the volue Fn keys, which work fine in KDE, do not work at all. I tried launching the PulseAudio Volume Control app, but it gives me a "Connection Failed: Connection Refused error". I still have sound, and I can adjust the volumes in alsamixer, but is rather inconvinient. What is the "right way" to adjust volumes in 11.2's GNOME?
View 9 Replies View RelatedVolume up, volume down and mute keys on the keyboard don't control the volume any longer.They worked before. Hitting the keys brings up a progress bar widget with the volume level unchangeable, set at 0% (which is not accurate at all).It looks like the key mappings or key bindings are working, but there is a disconnect with actual functionality. The volume cannot be changed or muted anymore from the keyboard.
This worked just fine in KDE on Fedora 11 before upgrading KDE components yesterday with Yumex. I am now using KDE 4.3.2 I don't think that it's a coincidence that it stopped working after doing an update.
I updated the kernel and nVidia drivers too, but this problem exists when I went back and tested with the previous kernel, so I don't suspect the kernel upgrade. No info in Xorg.conf about the keyboard. Is there a setting that I am missing?
Sound works just fine. I can listen to whatever source I like. This is not a problem with the sound drivers as far as I can tell.I just want to be able to control the volume with the keys on my Logitech Illuminated Keyboard, model Y-UY95. Is anyone else experiencing this?I can adjust the volume with Kmix 3.5 or GNOME Volume Control V2.1
