I have a dell desktop using 9.04 version before when belkin 4 port usb hub was working with keyboard, mouse, printer, webcam connected on it. I upgraded system to 11.04 when again USB hub was working. Recently certain upgrades happened on my system and USB hub stopped working. If I connect mouse, keyboard directly to usb port they are working but not when connected with usb hub. Present kernel version is 2.6.38.10. Since USB ports are limited so i have to use mouse, keyboard, printer, webcam through usb hub.

The internal Wireless card is broken, so I bought a Belkin F5D8013 PCMCIA Wireless N card a while ago. It worked fine with Ubuntu 8.04-9.10, but it will not work with 10.04. It sees the networks just fine and will let me type in the network password, but it will not connect. Everything else in my house connects without a hitch, so I know it is Ubuntu causing the problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Compaq AMD64 that has ubuntu 9.04 on one HD that works great. I've installed 10.04 on a separate HD and had problems installing it. I have 10.04 running now but I can't get my wireless card to work. During installation I skipped setting up the wireless network. Now when I boot into the 10.04 partition I cannot get the nm-applet to work. I can't get it onto the task bar and I don't see it anywhere else.
I checked to see what drivers are installed, and since I have no connection with that OS I can't update or DL drivers for it. I'm pretty sure that it is because I skipped setting it up during installation. What do I need to do to get the wireless working now? I checked other threads and none seem to pertain to my situation. Since I have to log into the 9.04 partition, I can't copy/paste outputs very easily.
i am complitly new in Ubuntu and the world of Linux in general, so i said to my self its better late then never, i installed the last one 10.10. but i am having trouble with my wifi usb adapter (BelkinF5D7050 v 1000), the same adapter works perfect under XP in the same PC. when i go to NM i dont see it in the list of network cards "i see just my two other normal network cards + loopback" and i have permanent small "x" on the icon of NM up in the task bar, even if check or uncheck "Enable Networking", it alwayes show a info bubble "you are now offline", here is the result of all the command line that can help getting better view on my problem

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed 64bit flash last week when I installed Ubuntu 10.04 64bit on my new laptop, and for the past week it has worked without issues.
However a couple of day ago it simply stopped showing flash videos on sites such as ..... etc. I think there might have been a ream of updates around the time this happened but my memory is a little vague.
I have since tried installing the each of the 3 flash codecs in turn that Firefox recommends but these will not install, failing with an exit status of 2. After I tried this I followed the 64bit flash instructions on the Wiki once more to get back to the point when it previously worked but alas this has been of no help.
I have also tried loading flash videos in Chromium and these suffer from the same issue. Anyone have any ideas what could have caused flash to suddenly stop working?
I have just installed Ubuntu 9.10 alongside Windows 7 and it is not picking up my Belkin N wireless adapter?? So I went to go and download the Windows Wireless Drivers (ndiswrapper) software so I can install my adapter and the download center just says "Not available in the current data" and wont let me download it? Also I tried to download my nVidia drivers from software center and it said the same thing?
Never before have I had a problem with Ubuntu until now So can anyone point me in any directions as to how to get these installed???
I'm trying to get internet set up on my grandad's laptop (sony pcg-f590), which has a fairly old pcmcia belkin 54g wireless card. I've installed the relevant bcmwl5a.inf driver through ndiswrapper, and for a time wireless worked so I installed updates through update manager. however after restarting the network manager menu comes up with "wireless networks disconnected" and no list of networks (I know there are because my laptop works and his is sitting next to the router!). The light is on on the network card so I know the laptop is talking to it. Unplugging and replugging the card does nothing, and neither does restarting again.

I'm new to all of this but read through many threads to do as much as I could myself. I used the GUI to load the rt3070 drivers rather than rpm. The GUI is easier I think and should be equivalent. I tried getting a Belkin USB Wireless adapter:N150 to work in a fresh installation of 10.4 with no success. After reading several forum posts I tried both solutions with ndiswrapper and the XP driver and with the Ralink native driver with no luck.

For the rest of my PCs I use a Belkin kvm that connects the mouse and keyboard into PS/2 ports and it works. However, the new Dell doesn't have PS/2 ports and I can't get the machine to detect the mouse and keyboard (at all) unless I plug them in directly.
I'm using a Belkin four-port kvm, model number F1DJ104P. Does anyone know of a driver I could download to my Dell PC that would detect the devices via the kvm? The Belkin web site seems to be in pieces and is absolutely no use.
Alternatively, since I'm not particularly attached to the kvm, can anyone suggest a kvm switch that I could buy instead? It would have to have a minimum of four ports and be able to handle both Windows and Linux (all flavours with both OSs) machines, with both usb and PS/2 ports for mouse and keyboard. If it could handle audio, then that would be an improvement on what I've got already.

Now that I installed Ubuntu Server 64bit on a new drive in the same machine, the ethernet card is not working!! This is insane cause when I put the hard disk with the 32bit installation back and booting from it, the ethernet card is working without any problems but in the 64bits installation it is not shown at all using "ifconfig -a"

In previous versions of Ubuntu I was able to remap this button to act as double-click using 'xbindkeys'. However, in Lucid this no longer seems to work. I've recently installed the package xscreensaver-gl-extra, and noticed not one of the screensavers on that package works - all I get is a blank screen on all of them. After upgrading to Lucid Lynx I can't get Gnomad2 to work with my Creative Zen X-Fi. I used to get it to work by running Gnomad2 as a super user, but now the program quits itself when trying to get the songs from the device claiming a segmentation fault.

I'm not sure if I have a hardware or OS problem. Firewire on my old G3 iMac has stopped working. Previously I've used a scanner and an external hard drive (Iomega eGo) without problems while running Lucid. Now neither works with the iMac, though they both work when connected to a PC. Both the PC and the iMac are running the latest versions of Lucid.
I can't tell when the problem began since I don't use the scanner or hard drive that often. I did try booting using the live 10.04 CD for PowerPC and had no joy with either device.The LCD on the hard drive lights when connected to the firewire port so power is coming through. The scanner has its own power supply.Checking with lsmod I see that both the modules ieee1394 and ohci1394 are loaded.I suspect it's a problem with the hardware. Does any one have an idea how I can go about verifying that? I'd hate to bin an old faithful without first checking everything out.
I am running 10.10 on a 21.5 inch imac. I just ran some updates and rebooted, turned on rhythmbox to play some tunes and realized there is no sound. Tried ....., no yield. Tried a different user account still no sound. SO I rebooted into osx and I have sound. Its therefore a software issue for sure. I plugged in headphones and changed to the appropriate output in the settings manager, sound came out, but out of phase. What going on here? any ideas would be awesome.
