Slackware :: Latest Current - Git + Http + Remote + Mingwgit - Cannot "git Push" From Windows Workstation

Feb 12, 2011

Well since tonight, after the upgrade to the latest current today, it was about a month I didn't upgrade, I cannot "git push" from my windows workstation (through msysgit shell)... I can pull, at least it tells me I'm up to date, but it keeps blocked on the 'push' command, returning only after a long timeout:

Ubuntu Networking :: Latest Image Push (2.6.32-25) Causing WLAN To Drop

Sep 8, 2010

I noticed this weekend that I began experiencing wireless issues with the NIC (Intel 5300) on my laptop. I have had no problems with the wireless using several Ubuntu versions. This began after I installed the packages associated with the Update Manager last Friday, which included the 2.6.32-25.43 kernel update. My wireless will drop out anywhere from 10 seconds to a couple minutes later after connecting to my router. Again, I have not have any wireless issues before. Below is the end of dmesg when I enable the device.

Server :: Git Push Origin Doesn't Update The Remote Repository Immediately

Jun 26, 2009

I set up a git repository on the live site of my website using git init. Then I created the same repo on my local machine using git clone command. Then I made a few changes and committed them to on my local repository. Then I tried to use git push origin alongside the ssh path to my repository on the remote machine to update my live website. However, I noticed that git-push only changes the head of my git repository on the remote machine and it doesn't change any file.

In order to update my remote repository I have to issue the following command after I use git-push.

PHP Code:

git reset --hard HEAD

This is a two-step process for committing changes to the live site. I was wondering if it's possible to merge these two steps in one to make life a little bit easier?

Note that, I'm the only one working on this project (sometimes from my laptop, sometimes from my desktop), so I trust all the commits.

General :: Security - Remote Into System Workstation Behind A Firewall?

Apr 22, 2011

Let's say I have a Linux workstation at work, behind a firewall. So even though I may have a remote access server set up on it (such as the most excellent NoMachine NX Server), I can't access it from home.

My home network happens to have a Linux server. Is it possible to ssh from work to the home Linux machine and set up a tunnel so that once I'm at home, I can run the NX client, point it to my home Linux box on some port like 9000, and have that forward through the tunnel to port 22 on my work Linux box? How would I set this up?

Red Hat :: Push / Pull Windows Printers To Redhat Cups?

Apr 21, 2010

I would like to know if it is possible to push or pull all Windows printers (about 1000) to Redhat Advanced Server? I know normally Samba comes into play, but there i can only make connection to 1 printer at the time. Also, I must then add the printers from the Windows Print Cluster by hand. Considering the huge amount of work AND the manageable aspects ( you will then have the printers on two servers), this is not an option.

So, can I connect from the RedHat server directly to the Windows Print cluster, or, if not, at least load all printers in the CUPS configuration at once? Then I have at least connection. It's a Windows 2003 R2 print cluster with RedHat 5.3 Advanced Server. Eventually the RedHat environment will be a cluster.

Apr 6, 2011

I need to redirect all http/https/ftp traffic through the remote proxy, but when I changes connection settings in browser or in System->Preferences->Network Proxy it doesn't work well: instead of getting page content browser asks for saving some short (8 bytes) file with the same content for all requested pages. It happens in Chrome/Opera/Firefox. This proxy requires authorization and works on computer with Windos XP. It worked well when I was using Windows 7 and Proxifier, now I have Ubuntu 9.10 with all available updates.

Slackware :: Image / Icon Trouble After Slackware-current Upgrade

Jan 22, 2010

I recently upgraded to slackware-current from Slackware 13 via slackroll, and have only encountered one problem. My file manager no longer thumbnails images, and icons (mostly PNG) aren't appearing no matter what GTK theme is set. Running from the command line produces no errors, and when brought up in something else (say feh /path/to/icon.png) it works perfectly. This is the only hitch I have encountered so far. The same thing happens with emoticons in Pidgin. Does anyone know of a fix?
