View 1 Replies View Relatedfrom vuze(bit torrent client) it shows my total download speed to be 20.56 KB/s....while my network monitor tool shows a speed around 72.41 KB/s. Similar is the case with upload speed. In much simple words the download/upload speed that vuze shows appears to be less than that shown by the network monitor tool.I must mention that at the time vuze was running there was no other simultaneous downloads.I don't understand why this is so?Is there any tool that can give me the exact information of downloading & uploading speed or rather any tool that can give me the details of uploads/downloads presently going on.
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust a quick question, is there a system user management app that could be accessed via a website for red hat (or really any distro)? Something kinda like phpMyAdmin, but can do useradd, userdel, groupadd, etc. For remote admins who don't know how to use ssh or the command line.

I could write a wrapper for ldapsearch, ldapadd and ldapmodify, or write something from scratch in perl, but I imagine someone has done this already.
How do I do a download speed test when comparing Hosting Providers?I'm on a Macbook Pro - wondering if there's an ap for this?Also, I have accounts at each provider with a 100mb file, but I'm guessing I'm closer to one than the other? How would I make it fair?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Fedora 11 system and cbq.init-v0.7.3 in it. Now I want to restrict upload speed from my ftp server to Internet (eth1). According to docs I've made a simple file /etc/sysconfig/cbq/cbq- 00.inet_upload_restrict:
DEVICE=eth1,100Mbit,10Mbit
RATE=800Kbit
WEIGHT=80Kbit
PRIO=5
RULE=:20,
So as you can see I want to limit outbound traffic on eth1 from my ftp port 20 to any to the 800Kbit/s (100Kbyte/s). Now I do cbq start, it says: find: warning: you have specified the -maxdepth option after a non-option argument (, but options are not positional (-maxdepth affects tests specified before it as well as those specified after it). Please specify options before other arguments.

I need to run a self-test on my external USB drive and don't want to use System -> Disk Utility.I've taken a look at the man page for udisks and curiously, there does not appear to be an option for self tests. Is there a way to run a self test using udisks directly from the command line?

View 5 Replies View RelatedThis is a bit of a long shot and I think the answer will be no but I thought I'd ask just in case. I have a number of tutorials in html but I want to be able to search for particular information in these files and display that information in the terminal rather than having to go through a browser. Apart from using grep which gives a pretty messy display or having to write a a specially Bash or python script, is there any command line tools that can provide such a function?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am writing a script to do a speed measurement from my ISP's test ftp server. To do this interactively I connect to the server, enter credentials, enable hash and download a test file. The process concludes with something like
Quote:
################################################################
226 Transfer complete.
1048576 bytes received in 2.87 secs (356.6 kB/s)
So I entered the credentials for the server in my .netrc file and created a little bash script as follows
Quote:
#!/bin/bash
cd ~/Desktop
# poiuytrewq is the limit string of the "here" document
[code]...
The script executes as expected EXCEPT that I do not see the statistics at the end of the transfer. It terminates thusly
Quote:
#################################################################################################### ############################################
ken@taylor12:~/Desktop$
I have tried adding another ftp command such as ls to the end of the "here" document (in case the results were clipped by the bye command) but to no avail. The ls result immediately follows the ### - no stats I am at a loss.

I'm thinking fiddler, but a unix version? I've heard of things like ntop and iptraf, but I don't think those will help me in this instance.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have ndiswrapper installed, and have successfully installed the drivers, I have also used nm-applet (and x forwarding) to configure wireless connections. My problem is that I want to reboot and unplug my wired connection and use just my wireless connection, but when I reboot it doesn't seem to connect to my network.
is there a command line tool or an independent tool that i can launch forwarding x I can use to search for and connect to wifi networks that would also have the ability to save configuration so that when I reboot the system automatically connects to my wifi?
